Age of Adepts

Chapter 0955 - Crime and Punishment

The holy knights of Harkans City had fallen into despair.

No matter how much they resisted, no matter how much they struggled, they were never able to resist the attack of the metal monster in front of them. And while they were using their lives, their flesh and blood to delay their opponent's pace, another, even larger and more terrifying flame giant rushed back up.

A berserk fireball burst through the crowd, and the resulting huge cloud of fire and ring of flaming shockwaves burned the Paladins to the ground. And taking advantage of the gap in their formation, the metal monster roared back in.

The Paladins' defense line finally crumbled!

Grim walked into the Chapel of Holy Light entirely on the flesh and blood of the Paladins.

As he moved forward, Grim also waved out a red flame, incinerating the bodies of the dead Paladins along the way into ash. On the other hand, the strange holy light that was milky white with a hint of divinity was like being attracted by a magnet, and was cast onto the fist-sized transparent crystal at Grim's waist.

The two gates of the Holy Light Chapel were gorgeous and elegant, with poems praising the holy light engraved on them, as well as decorative and beautiful patterns. Such gates apparently weren't known for their defensive power!

Thus the Elemental Demonic Armament only bumped into it, and the gate collapsed inwards, crushing some Paladins underneath. Between the loud noise and the flying dust, some Paladins rushed out with their great swords raised high and covered in blood.

Unfortunately, their meager strength was just some scraps in front of the violent elemental magic weapon, even with the addition of more divine aura!

The Elemental Demon Armament stepped in, two sturdy metal arms held aloft, either firing a barrage of ice guns, or throwing out a violent energy grid, or spewing out a thick stream of hot flames, or flying a wind vortex tornado....

Although these magical energies were not as strong as the Sorcerer Sorcery, but the advantage was that they were incessant and astonishing in number, so they also swept the Paladins who were in a negative position into a large area by virtue of their absolute numbers. Occasionally some Paladins rushed in front of the Elemental Demon Armament with their shields held high, and before they could exert their exquisite and profound fighting skills, they were blown away by the Elemental Demon Armament's brutal and simple steel fists.

Before any more absolute power, skill was so feeble that there was almost no room for it to be used at all!

Within the main gate was a huge teaching field, which could be seen to be the place where the Paladins usually trained on a daily basis. Around the churchyard, a spacious corridor led to different areas.

Among them, the one located in front of the churchyard was the most towering and magnificent chapel.

That was also the place where the Paladins meditated and communicated with the great holy light. It was usually only open to the faithful on Sundays, allowing them to venerate and pay their respects to the warriors who had died for the great and holy cause of the Empire.

On the left side of the churchyard were rows of tall wooden houses of the same style, which were the living quarters of the holy knights, as well as a large library and restaurant inside. On the right side of the churchyard is where the armory, weapons depot, prison and other large military buildings are located.

In addition to the two to three hundred Holy Light Chapel, there were also more than two hundred trainee knights selected from all over the empire stationed in this huge chapel, plus formidable handymen and artisans, there were nearly a thousand people to say the least.

However, when the Elemental Demon Armament and the Grim who had transformed into a tall fireman rushed into the chapel one after the other, under the boundary of pale red flames, ordinary mortals would instantly turn to ash without even having the chance to utter a word. Only those powerful holy knights could barely withstand the burning of the magical flames with the addition of holy light.

However, with their strength, how long could they hold out in the flame boundary?

Thus, as Grim made his way forward, a fire burst in the dwellings and houses he passed, and then flakes of ash flew up, leaving no room for ordinary mortals to survive.

The hordes of Paladins running out of the various buildings came up with loud cries, and then were smashed and kicked over one by one by the elemental magic weapons. Occasionally, there were too many for the elemental magic weapons to take care of, and Grim, who was leisurely following behind, threw a berserk fireball over, and the entire world was instantly quiet!

The disparity in power between the two sides was too great, and even though they had the bravery and will to fight to the death, they were still unable to stop Grim's footsteps.

It only took a quarter of an hour for the elemental magic weapon to scatter the last group of holy knights in front of the chapel and entered the cathedral without incident. And there, there were dozens of wounded Paladins lying across the floor, all of them bruised and dying. Most of them had severe injuries of mutilated limbs and broken bodies, and at a glance, they belonged to the critically wounded that could not be saved.

In addition to these Holy Knight wounded, there were hundreds of mortals in the cathedral hiding in the corners, looking at the intruding tall metal giants and world-destroying demon-like terrifying firemen, hugging and trembling one after another.

Resist? These foreign invaders possessed a power that they could never imagine. Let alone resist, they didn't even have the power to stand in front of Grim.

Everyone's eyes were filled with despair and fear as they looked at the oncoming pale red boundary, some women, children and old people were crying with their heads in their hands, and young men and women were gritting their teeth as they waited for their fate of death.

"Wait a minute..."

Just at the moment when the final destiny was about to come, a young Paladin in fine half-armor suddenly stepped forward, pulled out a great sword from his waist that was almost as tall as he was, and pointed it at Grim shouting, "Demon, it's us you want, it has nothing to do with them mortals. As long as you let these mortals go, we...we are willing to give up our resistance!"

The young holy knight's voice was clear and loud, with a hint of a young girl's child's voice that had not faded.

As she gently removed her face armor, she revealed a young, young, hardened face mixed with a dazed, pained face.

A little trainee knight....

Although the other party had plucked up the courage to block in front of Elemental Armament and Grim, her greatsword, which was held flat, trembled slightly, showing that she was not at peace inside.

With Grim's 6-meter tall form, this cathedral, no matter how grand it was, would not allow him to get in and out smoothly.

Therefore, Grim's body was bursting with flames, rawly melting the side of the cathedral to create a huge human-shaped passage, before taking a giant step to enter inside.

At this moment, looking at this tiny trainee knight who was blocking his way, Grim couldn't help but heave a smile. He leaned down slightly, and as the flames in his eyes condensed, a stream of crimson flames struck the young girl's raised greatsword, instantly melting it to a mere fraction.

The young girl screamed in alarm, and the broken sword in her hand, which burned red, also fell to the ground, burning out a charred hole in the wooden floor beneath her feet, with black smoke rising from it.

Faced with the topsy-turvy terrifying fireman in front of her, the young girl's weak body was trembling slightly. Due to being too close to the other party, she could even feel the strange touch of the giant's body's lingering flames licking her long hair and armor. Under such an environment, every time the girl breathed, what she inhaled into her nose and chest cavity was no longer sweet air, but a stream of hot flames that pinched her bones and etched her flesh.

The nostrils were on fire, the chest cavity was burning, and the skin of the entire body could feel the intense burning sensation of the flame everywhere. The young girl's face was so red that she could hardly breathe anymore.

Looking inside the church once again, Grim stood his ground and began to slowly gather the flame energy that was spilling out of his body. The temperature of the air within ten meters of him immediately dropped wildly from the dreaded 3000 degrees to 1200 degrees, which was a lot lower, but still enough to be fatal to a mortal lacking protection.

"Life indeed shouldn't be wasted like this!" Grim said quietly, "You may take this group of mortals and leave! All the guys below the Black Iron rank can leave, I'll only give you 3 minutes..."

Grim spoke these words in the Zambis common language, and the ordinary mortals hiding in the corners stopped crying at the news, their faces glowing with renewed hope.

"Three minutes... you only have three minutes! When the time comes, everyone here must die!"

Hearing the roar of the flaming giant once again, the handymen, craftsmen and commoners in the corner who had come in for refuge looked at me and me at you, not knowing whether or not to believe the words of this otherworldly demon.

Finally, a middle-aged man, fighting for his courage, stuck to the wall and cautiously made his way past the tall fireman, not letting loose until he was out of the church doors.

With this lead, the rest of the crowd was reminded of the time crunch, and one by one, holding on to each other and clustering around each other, they walked past Grim's side with caution and fled the cathedral.

It was only after Grim had put away the flame boundary and restrained the flame energy that was spilling out of his body that he was able to give them a way to escape. Otherwise, with the powerful power of a 3rd rank Fire Witch, without using any sorcery, just the energy breath spilling out of their bodies would be enough to kill everyone in the church.

Grim was not a rotten killer by nature, and the reason for slaughtering the holy knights was for the strange holy light that condensed after their death. There was absolutely no need for those mortals to create too much killing as long as they didn't get in his way.

As for letting those little guys below the Black Iron Knight go, the same reasoning applied.

These guys hadn't advanced yet, and it was impossible for their bodies to nurture a strong enough power of holy light, so slaughtering them would get them nothing, so Grim didn't mind letting them go with him.

As for whether or not the other party would continue to fight against him after escaping, this was something Grim had never considered.

In front of him, even a 3rd rank golden knight would have to drink his hatred, and what harm would a bunch of little guys who hadn't even reached 1st rank do to him if they were dead or alive?

"No, I won't leave..." despite the slight tremble of fear, the young girl was still fighting to hold on, "My life belongs to the Holy Light, and I'm willing to die for it!"

Grim smiled slightly and raised his right hand, and a huge flame energy instantly began to gather in his palm.
