Age of Adepts

Chapter 0967 - The Disappearing Dark Knight

After chasing out for more than ten miles, Kennett did indeed catch up with Lena in a forest clearing.

After all, Lena was only a 2nd rank witch who was hard stacked with witch potions and resources through her bloodline, and was usually raised in a dignified manner, never really experiencing a real life and death struggle. Thus, her transfer was not as resolute and seemed too dragged out.

By the time the Dark Knight spotted the enemy's fast approach, how could Lena's physique outrun a furious Golden Knight.

Looking back, and seeing the dazzling light that overflowed from the Golden Knight's body as he ran at speed, Lena couldn't help but panic and cower even more.

She secretly pulled out a reagent vial, uncorked it, and quickly chanted a strange sorcery spell. Out of the reagent vial crawled a pitch-black, three-tailed scorpion with its three tails raised high on its tail, firing a gray ray of radical* at the tall dark knight.

The other's body stiffened.

"Go, stalk him to death..."

As she hurriedly gave the order to send the Dark Knight to his death, Lena ran forward in a mad rush.

That tall dark knight's mask-covered face showed a look of despair, hatred, and relief as he drew his huge long sword from his waist and returned to face the golden knight who was charging at high speed.

An enemy meeting a foe is extraordinarily jealous!

Despite knowing that it was a death-defying act, under the control of that damned witch's strange sorcery, the Dark Knight still gathered a thick and evil darkness and slashed at the front of the mask of light that had coalesced as the Golden Knight charged at high speed.

There was a muffled thud.

The power of darkness and the power of holy light clashed together.

Light and darkness entangled and annihilated each other, while the two longswords collided with dazzling sparks.

After all, the Dark Knight had just fallen and was still unskilled in controlling his own dark power, coupled with the huge gap in power. It was as if he had been hit by a rushing elephant, flying straight out, breaking off countless bushes and thorns, and eventually setting into the trunk of a tall ancient tree.

With such a skillless collision, the dark power on his body was directly scattered by the other side. If it wasn't for the fact that his armor had lost nearly half of its strength, he would have been killed on the spot by the Golden Knight's power.

However, even so, he had lost the power to resist, and his entire body was set into the tree trunk, struggling a little, and purple-black fetid blood flowed out from inside the broken armor.

Facing the violent strike of a 2nd rank Dark Knight, Kennett couldn't help but suffer a portion of the concussion damage as well. But as a holy knight, with holy light added and protected, this insignificant amount of damage was obliterated with only two flexes of the fingers.

Kennett came to the Dark Knight with his longsword, picking apart the other's face armor with the tip of his sword, revealing the young face of the Morbid White Obscurity beneath.

"Ash Daven...why have you fallen?" The tip of Kennett's sword trembled a bit.

This Ash Daven in front of him was an elite carefully selected and cultivated by his Holy Light Chapel, and at a young age, he had already become a 2nd rank Silver Knight. As long as he didn't make any mistakes, he definitely had a chance to become a revered 3rd rank Gold Knight after giving him 30 to 40 years.

After hearing that an evil witch had appeared near the chapel, it was Kennett who had personally ordered Ash Darwin to go after the enemy. This was originally Kennett's good intentions as well, as long as Ash Daven could perform well in this operation to hang the witch, he would definitely be able to obtain more feedback from the Holy Light.

It would undoubtedly have huge benefits to his strength and qualifications!

Perhaps, after the success of this operation, he would be able to qualify to preside over a chapel of holy light alone in a certain region.

Unfortunately, his fate was incredibly reversed when he met that wicked witch.

For some unknown reason, he was quickly corrupted. With the help of the wicked witch, he turned to the embrace of darkness and became an enemy of the Holy Light. What could be more infuriating and maddening to Kennett than this!

That was why Kennett so desperately wanted to catch him and question him personally as to why.

Unfortunately, this completely depraved Ash Darwin was silent, his eyes were sightless, and his pupils were drifting with wisps of darkness, as if he was not sane.

The longsword in Kennett's hand trembled slightly, and several attempts to cut off his opponent's head were too much for him.

Finally, with a fierce flash in his eyes, he brushed two swords to cut off the opponent's legs, and then copied the opponent's dazzling darkness and pierced his long sword through his right shoulder to impale him on top of the tree trunk.

Having done that, Kennett no longer stopped, his eyes drifting towards the direction of that evil witch's escape and struggled to chase after her.

It had to be said that Lena was quite useless as a 2nd rank witch.

She had the Dark Knight to buy her 3 minutes of time, and she still hadn't escaped Kennett's pursuit.

Not knowing how to hide her tracks, not knowing how to evade the other party's pursuit, in the dark forest where it was difficult to walk, Lena only escaped 5 miles before she was caught up by Kennet again.

This time, there was no one who could help her anymore!

Kennett almost hardened himself against Lena's sorcery attack, rushing to her side and smacking the back of his sword on top of her backbone, putting her down completely.

Raiding Lena of all her bottles and strange trinkets, picking at her tendons, Kennett only then grabbed her by her long hair and dragged her all the way back.

The dark forest was almost completely devoid of any paths to traverse, and Kennett had chosen the densest areas of the shrubs and thorns to walk on, so the Lena witch had hundreds of blood cuts on her body along the way. By the time they reached the nearly withered ancient tree, Lena's dress had shredded into a single rotten strip of cloth, revealing her beautiful body to be nearly naked.

Kennet stopped abruptly and looked at the empty ancient tree.

The spiked longsword was still there, but the Ash Darwin, with his legs broken and his body skeleton nearly shattered, was strangely missing.

Not only was he missing, but the two severed legs were gone too!

"Damn damn damn damn..." and Kennett flung Lena on top of the ancient tree and made a few quick circles around there himself.

With his extensive tracking experience, Kennett was confidently certain that that Ash Daven had by no means left on his own, but had been rescued by some outsider. And the guy who rescued him was not only powerful, but also had an extremely special stealthy hiding method, otherwise he wouldn't have left even a trace.

The witch's companion?

Kennett grabbed Lena and held her up in front of him in a fierce forced stare.

"Say, is there any more of your company here? Who rescued Ash Daven?"

Since she had fallen into the hands of the Golden Knight, Lena's lumbar vertebrae had been broken by the other party, so naturally she had no power to resist in the slightest. She raised her face covered in blood and scratches, shaped like a fierce ghost-like terror, and cursed sharply at the Paladin in front of her.

"Let me go, let me go... If you kill me, my companions will definitely avenge me!"

Before she could finish her sentence, Lena was hit with two vicious slaps from Kennett, her teeth loosening nearly half of her mouth.

"I don't want to hear another half-assed word from you. Say, who is your companion? Where are they hiding? Tell me this and I'll give you a good thrashing, or you'll be waiting to shower in the holy light!"

Lena's mind was instantly destroyed by the fierceness of her enemy, she no longer had her previous brutality and ferocity, and her entire body was shaking.

"It's gone, it's really gone! There were three of us this time, and we had an accident while traveling through a rift in space, and we scattered each other..."

"Where did those two guys run off to?"

"I don't know, I really don't! I'm just here to deliver the materials for the Witch Formation, which corner of this plane they were swept to by the Void Hurricane, I... really don't know!"

The Holy Light skill apparently also had the divine art of discerning lies, and only after making sure that the heart-broken witch in front of him wasn't lying did Kennet give up on further torture.

Since it wasn't the witch's companion, it was probably a native demon from the Dark Forest!

Ash Daven was all dark, but it matched the place perfectly, had it been devoured or brought back to the lair by some passing demon?

After pondering for a long time without an answer, Kennet finally gave up on continuing his search for Ash Darwin and grabbed the captured witch and ran out of the forest in strides.

When his figure had completely disappeared into the dense forest, the trunk of the ancient tree with the dark sword suddenly protruded from the trunk of a pale human face, staring distantly at the place where the golden knight had disappeared.

After blinking a few times, the human face opened its mouth wide and actually spat out that Ash Daven from within the trunk of the tree.

On the other side, the two broken legs had now miraculously reattached themselves back together.

It took a good deal of effort for Ash Daven to rise from the damp ground and stare silently at the human face.

Ever since he had fallen into the embrace of darkness, he had felt as if a veil had been cast over his mind, seeing, hearing, and thinking things completely different than before.

This human face in front of him, however, gave him a strange feeling of kindred spirits.

"Heehee, that little witch is still quite capable of inspiring your latent dark talent. That's a bargain for my lord, picking up a dark knight with good potential for nothing in such an inferior bit. Fine, fine, you're coming with me!"

Saying that, the ancient tree face Ug opened its mouth to its maximum and actually opened a void passage to an unknown mysterious space on the tree.

That Ash Daven, whose mind had yet to recover, only hesitated for a moment before he once again entered the black hole of the passage and completely disappeared from the Enewick Dimension.

The Kennett, who had already left, naturally knew nothing of what was happening behind him.

He had now focused his full attention on the captured Lena Witch.
