Age of Adepts

0975 - Poison vs. Poison, Let's See Who's Poisonous

As soon as she stepped out of the Chapel of the Holy Light, the old witch, Gwynevere, Woody, paused in her tracks and turned her head to look somewhere in the city.

"What are you dawdling about, old man? Wait a little longer and that fire witch will be far away..." the giant serpent wizard, Natagu, said coldly.

"You guys go ahead! I want to take a look over there..." the old witch laughed strangely, "I can feel it, a sweet plague spreading. That fire witch's plague demon pet is in that direction!"

The Giant Serpent Sorcerer hesitated, but finally nodded, "It's good to split the army! You go after that Plague Poison Spirit, and we two will go after the Fire Witch, they'll always converge, it's safer that way too... Alright, let's go!"

Saying no more, and not saying much, he casually summoned a huge black mamba python over twenty meters in length, humping him and the mind warlock Benija to follow the dense flame scent that remained in the air, and quickly chased off into the distance.

The old witch laughed a few times, leaned on a dark wooden staff taller than her own head, and thudded and turned into the darkness of the street.

The herd of poisoned corpses north of the city was retreating.

After receiving Grim's news, Plague Poison Spirit Remy did not hesitate to direct the poison corpses to start moving outside the city. Those poison corpses with lesser rank qualifications were directly abandoned, leaving them to scurry around the city and give the Paladins something to do.

Most of the poison corpses with apprentice level strength, on the other hand, swarmed out of the city walls and moved towards the distant wilderness areas. And among them, there were even a dozen or so servant corpses that had advanced to rank 1.

Compared to the poison corpses, the servant corpses were drier and leaner, but their skeletons were larger, and their strength, physique, and agility had all been greatly improved. Their muscles were more solid and dense, and even if they weren't wearing any armor, their body defenses were no weaker than ordinary possessed leather armor.

Their movements were also more nimble and agile, and their hands and feet had evolved into sharp finger claws that could easily climb and move on walls or ceilings. The strange flexibility of their limbs, in turn, allowed them to perform all sorts of bizarre movements that were difficult for humans to imitate.

As a result, the killing methods they possessed were also much more terrifying than those of poisonous corpses!

The Plague Poison Spirit Remy, who was only one meter tall and still looked like a four or five year old boy, was straddling the back of the most powerful among the servant corpses, leading a group of small, bouncing creatures behind him like a torrent over the city walls, over the moat, and into the wilderness.

As he rode the servant corpse forward in a frenzy, Remy scanned the darkness around him in confusion, always feeling that a pair of eerie eyes were secretly watching him.

It was, after all, a unique creature evolved from the Deeds, unable to learn knowledge and master sorcery in a systematic manner like a wizard. The abilities it possessed now were almost all spontaneously formed, and whenever its own strength grew to a certain stage, as if it had unlocked a certain natural potential, some strange and bizarre abilities would flood into its brain and etch deeply into its soul.

In this way, even if it didn't have to study or practice, these abilities would automatically become its natural abilities just like breathing and sleeping!

By advancing to 1st level, Remy gains the natural ability Plague Spores!

By advancing to 2nd level, Remy gains the natural ability of Plague Aura!

Advancing to 3rd level, Remy gains the natural ability Plague Transformation!

Pestilence Spores allows Remy to transform himself into an incubator, using his Pestilence Talent to release a steady stream of terrifying Pestilence Spores. Remy is also able to simply control plague spores, which in turn is biased in several directions, including highly lethal, highly contagious, and highly harmful.

The Plague Aura was able to turn Remy completely into a poisonous spirit. Not only is it able to quickly spread plague spores on its own, but even the sharp teeth and claws of the plague creatures it fights beside can come with plague venom attached to them.

Seriously, by the 3rd level, with the Plague Transformation ability, Remy's own strength was only initially formed!

Previously, the creatures that died from the plague were just dead, and other than bringing some life energy to Remy, there was no other benefit. But now, with the plague transformation, the creatures that died from the plague all had a certain chance of standing back up under the control of the spore bacteria, becoming plague creatures that were under Remy's domination.

And these plague creatures were able to evolve through bloody and cruel killings!

It was just that their evolutionary path was clearly different from the mundane sense of leveling up, and they followed a killing evolutionary system. It was simply delusional for an ordinary creature to evolve into a rank 1 in a single night. But Remy's transformed plague creature poison corpses had only gone on a killing spree in Hessas City, and seventeen 1st rank servant corpses had already emerged.

Of course, a large part of the reason for this was that these servant corpses were probably some sort of trainee knight or straight up Black Iron Knight before they died. With a good natural background, coupled with the superior quality of the blood food in Hesas City, the chances of quickly advancing to the next level after being transformed into plague creatures were much higher.

But these plague creatures would never be able to escape the bonds of Remy's soul in this lifetime even if they were to advance any further!

Because they were dead creatures in the first place, they were only able to come back to life again thanks to Remy's strange abilities. Therefore, in front of this group of plague creatures that numbered 600 to 700, Remy was their worthy king, and even more so, the ruler that they were willing to protect to the death!

From a certain point of view, plague creatures and undead creatures were almost similar.

Only the former relied on plague spores to drive their resurrection, while the latter relied on negative energy to support their soul cores.

The alarm in Remy's mind grew stronger as it drove the poisonous corpses and servants wild through the dark wilderness.

It looked back at Ug, and its ghastly green pupils immediately caught sight of a strange figure in the bloody sky.

It was an odd old witch riding a flying broom. Wearing a high peaked hat, with a head full of white hair, hollow cheeks, a face piled with cascading folds and black shoujo spots, and a rickety waist that was almost bent at 90 degrees.

The old witch was currently flying above the sky, with a large blood-colored moon disc hanging behind her, reflecting her in an increasingly eerie manner.

A 3rd rank witch!

It's still highly toxic!

It took little time for Remy to quickly identify the other party.

It couldn't be helped, both sides were making poison, and the smell of that poisonous body could be clearly smelled from a hundred and eighty meters away.

"Jie Jie Jie... I didn't expect it to be a Deed Spirit that has evolved into a 3rd stage, my wife is blessed... Tsk tsk, and an autonomous spirit, it seems that brat didn't miss investing resources in you oh! "The old witch snickered for a moment, talking to herself and acting as if she didn't care about Remy at all.

Although she was only one person, and the other party was leading a small 'legion', she still looked like she was steadily eating the other party. There was no other reason, the Poison Corpse Legion was just unformed.

A group of poison corpses that were no more than apprentice level and a dozen or so 1st stage servant corpses were simply no threat to this 3rd stage Poison Crone, even if their numbers were expanded tenfold.

At this 3rd rank level, it was no longer possible to be grinded to death simply by stacking numbers!

In order to kill any 3rd rank, one needed timing, location, and a large enough legion of cannon fodder...all three were indispensable.

And in the eyes of this 3rd Order Poison Crone, the Poison Spirit's own strength was still weak, and the legions of Witch Beasts it had pulled together were even more vulnerable. If it wasn't out of that bad taste for torturing opponents, I'm afraid Gwynevere would have already attacked.

Damn... it was a Poison Crone!

"Hello, may I ask what you wanted to see me about?" The Plague Poison Spirit Remy's dark green face revealed a sweet and warm smile, blinking its dark green strange pupils, as if curiously looking at the old witch.

And as it spoke, a puff of horrifying plague spores so fine and tiny that they were hard to see with the naked eye slowly diffused into the void, invading the other's body like an invisible ink.

A distance of two hundred meters was only six or seven handfuls for this strange plague spore!

"Hey, boy, acting cute in front of your wife, huh? Then I'll show you the power of the Wife's Poison Art..." the old witch smirked coldly.

Remy's dark green pupils could clearly catch a similarly hidden and invisible poisonous fog spreading out from the other party's body, which soon overlapped with the plague spores it had spread.

The two poisonous fogs that were invisible at one moment, immediately tumbled and shook the next moment, appearing from the void. Like two groups of fierce beasts fighting together, they were entangling and devouring each other, trying their best to infect each other with their own kind.

The two poisonous mists were still only fighting between Remy and the Poison Crone, but as time passed and the night breeze blew, they enveloped a larger and larger area, and the battlefield spread to the entire wilderness.

They boiled and vibrated, invading and devouring each other....

The poisonous corpses and servants in the mist became the main battlefield for the two strands of poisonous germs to fight over. If a corpse was caught in the poisonous fog, the tough and hard skin on the surface of the body that was originally hard to be hurt by swords would immediately fester, as if it had been corroded by strong acid, revealing the bright red flesh that hadn't completely decayed and died underneath.

Sensing the presence of flesh and blood, the two strands of poisonous mist boiled like hungry wolves that smelled blood, competing to be the first to pour into the poisonous corpses, fighting for control of life in every tendon, every trace of flesh and every organ of their bodies.

Whichever side had the upper hand, they would quickly invade every bit of flesh and tendon into their own kind. As a stream of black smoke escaped from the poisonous corpse's eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and other holes, the body of the poisonous corpse quickly decayed and crumbled.

In the blink of an eye, all that was left of a poisonous corpse with apprentice level strength was a pile of dead bones that had been eroded and covered with spots and holes.

The newly diffused poisonous fog converged into the team, virtually increasing the strength of the team.

These poisonous mists were like the most oil-consuming machines, and the oil they burned was the flesh and blood of any living creature!
