Age of Adepts

Chapter 0978 - Battle of the Wild

The first wave that rushed onto the battlefield was naturally the group of flame creatures that acted as cannon fodder.

Low-ranked fire elements, fire spirits, fire giants, fire wolves, lava dogs, flaming beasts, fire giants....

Flame creatures of all shapes and forms poured out from behind Grim, roaring towards the four sorcerers standing in the crater. Before they arrived, a wave of swift and violent flame spells had engulfed the location of the others.

However, the wave of attacks looked immeasurably powerful, but unfortunately did not have any powerful flame spells in it, they were all natural abilities unique to fire creatures, with elemental fireballs being the most common.

The violet mane in the pupils of Mind Warlock Benigia's eyes flashed, and an invisible mind wave swept across the sky, detonating these elemental fireballs in advance.

Thus from afar, a burst of flames burst in front of the four witches, and the energy fluctuation of their breath was magnificent. However, by the time the shockwave of flames formed by the fireballs that exploded in advance swept in front of the sorcerers, they were already at the end of their rope, unable to even shake the seemingly thin protective force field on their bodies, let alone injure them in the slightest.

After two consecutive waves of useless flame attacks, the group of astonishingly large number of flame creatures had already rushed near the crater. However, before they could disperse and surround the witches, Katy stepped forward and pushed with one hand, and five metal blades blocked their charging path like butterflies.

The blade wheels whirred, and the flames crumbled.

When the creatures, which were only about 1st rank beginner strength, encountered this terrifying array of blades with an astonishing cutting power, they were cut into countless pieces and scattered into flying flames without even a chance to struggle.

One batch came up and was crushed, another batch came up and was crushed again....

The five-sided blade wheel was manipulated like an arm's length by Knife Kitty Katie, screeching through the mass of flaming creatures. Each impact would leave shards of flame and flying flames all over the ground behind them.

No matter how swift and agile the flame creatures were, they would never be able to break through the metal blade formation controlled by Knife Katie!

However, borrowing the cover of the flaming creatures, the elemental magical weapons rumbled up and smashed into Katie with a steel fist. In the whistling of the fist, violent magical energy followed like a shadow, stirring up a small vortex of elemental currents.

As a mechanical witch, Knife Katie, although her overall inclination was towards agility, her strength attribute was not low either.

She didn't dodge the violent strike of the elemental magic energy, but instead, she closed her five-sided blade wheel and joined the two metal thorns flying up and down in her hands, like a fierce metal storm, and entangled and cut with Steel Arm Iron Fist.

While frantically attacking her opponent, Katy drifted her body, retreating rapidly with the pressure of the Elemental Magic Arm Iron Fist. In the eyes of outsiders, it looked as if she had been blown away by an elemental magic fist and suffered a sluggish loss.

But the truth of the matter is that the right arm of the Elemental Armament is covered with deep scratches and pits. However, with the thickness of the arm, this wound could not affect the performance of the weapon.

The metal thorns in her hands and the metal wheels that circled around her body cut her steel body with sparks, and the high-pitched metallic friction sound was sharp and ear-splitting.

As Katy was being pushed back by the elemental weapons, the flaming creatures that had been blocked in the middle of the road were able to break through the blade formation and roar towards the witches.

The one who took Katie's place was the Mind Warlock Benigia.

The large amethyst on her forehead overflowed with invisible ripples that were hard to see with the naked eye. The body of the flaming creature swept by the mind ripple in its charge stalled abruptly, and then collapsed without cause.

A huge fireball burst near the crater, blasting the loose and brittle volcanic rock there apart and rolling down the slope into the lava fire pool.

If the killings of Knife Katy before were considered in the normal category, then at this moment the killings of the Mind Warlock Benigia became unintelligible. Even Grim, who was standing back to press the battle, could only rely on his multiple vision to observe the presence of the mind ripple, but it was unknown how this mind ripple destroyed the conscious mind nucleus of the flame creature.

In any case, from his perspective, it was a wave of flame creatures rushing up and then inexplicably one by one self-destructing, the violent elemental flames turning into a ball of fire that engulfed the entire front of the battlefield.

Grim had no intention of summoning the Thunder Dragon Ames.

This to wasn't that he was prop up, but it really didn't make sense.

Every time when the Thunder Dragon Ames showed up, the four Hunt Wizards on the opposite side turned around and ran away without hesitation, using the vast battlefield space to exchange the time to summon the 3rd rank dragon.

According to the Laws of the Plane, the 3rd stage Thunder Dragon Ames did not rely on the Plane Portal to come to the Envik Plane, but was summoned by virtue of the Giant Dragon Contract between it and Grim. As such, the time it stayed in the Envik Plane was subject to the laws of the Plane.

Even with the Giant Dragon Contract between the Thunder Dragon Ames and Grim, Grim could only maintain Ames' existence for a quarter of an hour. This amount of time might be more than enough to complete a battle, but it was less than sufficient to chase down the four Evasive Witch Hunters.

As for taking advantage of the momentum of the brontosaurus Ames to escape the fire kill... the thought had crossed Grim's mind before, and even the four hunting witches were eager for him to do so.

But consider leaving this place and losing the blessing of the Lava Fire Pool. With one against four, Grim honestly hadn't been that confident to withstand their attacks. Therefore, after summoning Ames once or twice, Grim had completely given up on the idea and began to seriously play battle of position with this group of hunting witches.

Seeing that his men had all rushed up, Grim didn't hesitate to transform into a fire giant and raised his hand to summon a diffuse fire cloud to smash into the opposite side.

Faced with the powerful attack of a 3rd level fire witch, the four hunting witches could no longer maintain their previous leisure and calm, carefully dodging the lava fireballs and meteor fire rain, trying their best to dodge each of Grim's attacks.

For some reason, the flame sorcery prompted by that Grim was somewhat astonishingly powerful!

And it came with some light damage that ignored defenses.

However, what caused the most headache for several of the witch hunters was Grim's ability to change the magical effects of fire sorcery at will. Cold Flame, Fire Poison, Burst... all kinds of strange magical effects were simply capable of torturing people into madness.

Even fire poison was fine, with the presence of the poison crone Gwynevere, any kind of toxin could be cracked.

But Burst and Cold Flame would be too difficult to deal with!

It's not just having high heat and heat that's annoying, but the fire sorcery that Grim inspires can burst anytime and anywhere. Often times, it was only when this sudden burst of flames disrupted her form that she was forced to take a few hard hits with the elemental magic weapon.

If she was even less fortunate and was frozen in place by the cold flames, even if she was strong enough, she would still be pounded by the elemental demons that pounced on her, spurting blood and making her flesh soft.

It couldn't be helped, the current Knife Katie was at some sort of low point in her strength due to the succession of heavy injuries. She had been in some sort of 'weak' state since before she returned to the outer domain for thorough treatment!

Therefore, as soon as they saw Grim step onto the battlefield, the four hunting witches immediately made a little division of labor.

The Giant Serpent Sorcerer, Natagu, and the Mind Warlock, Benija, were responsible for teaming up to deal with the Fire Witch, Grim, while the Knife Lady, Katie, and the Poison Crone, Gwynevere, were responsible for holding back the elemental magic weapon.

Each side used their own strange techniques to frantically hang together in this crater that covered an area of five miles in diameter.

In the previous battles, the four Hunt Wizards had also tried to entangle the Elemental Demon Armament with Kathy the Knife, and then the remaining three Wizards had attacked the Fire Witch, hoping to quickly kill Grim in this way.

Unfortunately, that Grim was surprisingly tough, and had the fearsome Lava Fire Pool behind him to lend a hand. Thus, even in the face of the siege of the three hunting witches, he was still standing.

And in contrast, Katy the Blade was the weakest link in the group!

The three wizards who were besieging Grim were still unresolved, but her one-on-one fight with the elemental magic weapon was close.

It was in that battle that Katy the Knife was wounded and became more and more 'weak'.

But among the four hunting witches, apart from Knife Katie, neither the Mind Warlock nor the Old Poison Woman were fit or able to entangle the Elemental Demon Armament. And it was even more impossible for the Giant Snake Sorcerer, Natagu, as the main combatant, to hustle to deal with that magic weapon.

Otherwise, once the unleashed Grim exerted his full power, the threat brought to them was simply astonishing!

Therefore, as a last resort, the four of them could only adopt this more 'gentle' fighting style and fight against that fire witch a little bit.

It had to be said that as the leader of the four-member team, that Giant Snake Sorcerer's strength was indeed terrifyingly high.

Once he transformed into a Black Mamba Serpent, he also possessed a sturdy snake scale that was comparable to an elemental magic weapon, as well as an outstanding magic resistance that was not inferior to that of a dragon.

With his powerful anti-material and anti-demon abilities, the Serpent Sorcerer was even able to charge into the Lava Pool to fight the fire giant in Grim's form. Whenever both sides erupted with all their might, the Gondas Volcano was like an exploding barrel, furiously and ferociously spewing out a stream of scorching lava and volcanic ash that covered the sky.

Accompanied by a great roar like the sky and earth cracking, the entire volcanic region became a terrifying jedi that life could not approach like the end of days!

The aftermath caused by the witches' battle also caused the volcano to erupt more violently and more frequently, and all the humans and creatures within a hundred miles fled desperately into the distance under an unspeakable crisis....
