Age of Adepts

1009 Chapter 1009 - Prelude to the Duel

What defeated the two foreign legions was none other than the Crimson side's most inconspicuous self-destructing machines.

These self-destructing machines are often the size of a man's head, and follow the Demon Armor Legion as they advance and retreat together. When battle breaks out, they swarm, screeching and charging into the thickest parts of the enemy cluster before exploding themselves.

Their lethality relies mainly on the modified magic energy** and the countless armor-shattering shrapnel hidden within, and is a typical indiscriminate attack.

Don't look at how few they were, but there were an astonishing number of them. Even if most of them were exterminated by sorcery and frost spells, there were still many self-destructing machines that managed to blow themselves up in the middle of the Foreign Legion's ranks.

One or two self-destructing machines might be nothing, but as more and more self-destructing machines appeared, the lower half of the two foreign legions would inevitably suffer some injuries. The Frost Giant Warriors were mostly injured by their hairy, black feet, while the Alienation Beast Legion was injured by their lower abdomen, which lacked the protection of golden scales.

These small wounds didn't matter at first glance, but once they accumulated, they severely slowed down their speed of attack or movement. On the main battlefield, a frost giant hobbling on the wrong side of the road, or a demonic tiger stopping to lick its wounds, would be the best target for the rear goblin chariots to hit.

Thus, after a bloody battle, the two foreign legions, though still valiant, were inevitably losing ground fast!

Seeing that the frontline battle was going to degenerate into a magical crystal black hole type of war of attrition again, the seven 3rd level sorcerers of the Fabreus Family could not help but feel anxious.

It was true that the Fabreth Family was dozens of times more powerful than the Crimson Family, and its resources and wizard advantages in every aspect were even more incomparable. But the bigger the family business was, the more sorcerer power it needed to occupy.

These foreign legions were the Fabreth Family's hidden killer weapons in various sub-dimensions, and the main battle force that suppressed the family industry. If they were lost too much in a short period of time, and the new forces could not be replenished for a while, it would have an unforeseen and serious impact on the several secondary planes occupied by the Fabreth family.

For the first time, the seven Fabres Family 3rd ranked sorcerers couldn't help but take a second look at the crimson family in front of them. The fact that the other side's rise was less than a hundred years old, yet they had been able to contend with the Fabreth Family that had been sedimented and accumulated for thousands of years up until this moment, already fully illustrated their powerful management abilities and a formidable fighting potential.

What's more, even though the war had become so intense, the other party still hadn't sent that Magic Puppet Dragon into battle. This was a clear indication that the opponent hadn't reached the point where they were running out of fuel and couldn't stand it any longer, and it also reflected their terrifying war potential.

Faced with such an opponent, I'm afraid the Fabreus family sorcerers present could only discard their past arrogance and summon the courage to engage in a bloodbath with a strong enemy.

Looking at each other, the seven Fabreus Family 3rd Class silently arranged their personal equipment, and then flew out of the floating wooden boat together, heading towards the main battlefield where they were still fighting bloodshed. Beneath them, teams of elite sorcerers also emerged from various hiding places, merging into a massive torrent that surged towards the main battlefield.

Faced with hundreds of Fabres Family Sorcerers, the Crimson Family's side also began to frantically gather their battle power and slowly injected it into their family positions. And in the visible distance, the topmost Demonic Armament Puppet Dragon that was originally located outside of Song Tower City was also spewing out a massive amount of steam and closing in on the main battlefield with an earth-shaking pace.

Three floating giant ships (one serving in the White Tower) also began to slowly lower their altitude, hovering above the Crimson Family's position, shielding them from any possible threat from the sky. Above the ground, the goblin chariots, numbering up to four hundred, formed four artillery positions and were still unceasingly bombarding the flailing enemies on the battlefield.

From inside the goblin chariots, from inside the floating giant ships, the number of battle demons that had gathered from within Sonata City had reached 1,262. They lay across the front of the goblin chariot positions, forming a dense and staggered defensive line.

No matter what creatures wanted to hit the defensive line they were in, they would have to endure the bombardment of hundreds of magic energy cannons, as well as being counted one by one by the magic energy giants above their heads.

And that didn't include the 763 battle demons and 326 Tyranny Regiment goblin organizers that were fighting on the battlefield of flesh and blood.

The two major witch families were desperately trying to gather strength towards the front of the battlefield, but instead of rushing them into battle, they were piling up a little bit at the edge of the battlefield with the intention of gathering a strong force capable of abruptly overwhelming the opponent's defenses.

One by one, shapely wizards also appeared, displaying a completely different style of dress.

There were cavalry troops riding fierce magic horses, wearing anti-demon armor, and holding thunder tridents with electric light in their hands; archers with strong and solid bodies, carrying strange and magical longbows on their backs; and a large number of exotic bird people with strange feathers on their backs, wearing soft armor, and holding instant wands in their hands.......

All of them had a strong or weak magical scent, and the worst of them had the basic strength of an advanced apprentice. In a small family, these people would have been the reserve force of the family that they had devoted their efforts to cultivate, but here they were trained into a strange 'army' by the Fabreus family.

Yes, the Fabreth family had trained them in the manner of a mundane army and equipped them with the appropriate sorcery equipment. At certain times, these apprentice-level 'warriors' were able to condense their own strength and sorcery equipment together to exert a terrifying battle power that was no weaker than that of a formal sorcerer.

This... might be the real reason why the Fabreth Family worked hard to train and cultivate them!

It must be known that in the Wizard World, the time and resources needed to successfully train a full-fledged wizard were enough to deter ordinary wizard families. However, throwing all this time and resources on the hopelessly promoted Sorcerer apprentices, it was easy to obtain a large number of quick basic battle powers.

However, compared to full-fledged sorcerers, these apprentice 'warriors' had the same battle power but little hope of advancing to the next level, making it difficult for them to bring in additional high-ranking sorcerers to their families. Therefore, most of the large sorcerer families still took formal sorcerers as the mainstream for training, and then supplemented them with this kind of rapid-achieving 'sorcerer team' to make up for the gap in the family's basic combat power.

After all, the Crimson Family had risen to prominence for far too short a time, and hadn't had enough time, energy and resources to cultivate and build a team of witch beasts, foreign legions or wizard teams that belonged exclusively to the Crimson Family. Only the newly emerged Goblin Organ Warlock 'Tyranny Blood Crew' had a hint of a 'Sorcerer Team', while the Dragons in the Lance Dimension had a little bit of a foreign legion flavor.

As for the Witch Beast Team, there wasn't even a shadow of it within the Crimson Family!

As the war progressed, both sides were somewhat at full strength, so the battle gradually escalated into a major showdown between the Fabreth and Crimson families.

Behind the Crimson Family was the last remaining city, Sonta City.

If the war was lost, all of the Crimson Family's territories, resource points and hard-earned human resources in the Alois region would be destroyed in an instant. Although there was still one last family tower to retreat to, it would also signify that the glory and reputation that the Crimson Family had built up so easily would be gone forever.

The competition in the Wizard World was extremely cruel and realistic!

Once the Crimson Family has been reduced to a bullying weakling, all the guys who have had conflicts with it in the past or conflicts of interest will gather together and come to devour what little resources the Crimson Family has left, never leaving any possibility for the Crimson Family to make a comeback.

As for the bit of Crimson Family blood and bones left in the Northern White Tower, in order to thrive under the nose of the Northern Witch, it would also need to go through a foul storm no less than the one in the middle of the continent.

And after the storm that the Crimson Family had faced, the existence of a powerful behind-the-scenes mastermind could be vaguely detected!

The fact that the Crimson Family was able to occupy an entire region on its own was enough to demonstrate its great vitality and vigor. Under normal circumstances, while there would be some nastiness and conflicts of interest with the old wizard families, there would rarely be such a war of extermination where they would give their all and eradicate the other side by the roots.

Although the Fabreth family would be able to take advantage of the opportunity to monopolize the entire Eloise region by defeating the Crimson family. However, since the start of the war, the number of sorcerers and legions that the Fabreth Family had lost to this land had gradually approached the limit of what they could afford.

If this kind of endless depletion continued, even the Fabreth Family, which was a large family, would have to face the possibility of the family's overall strength suddenly weakening over a period of time.

It was precisely because they didn't want it to come to that, that the seven Fabreus Third Grade Sorcerers couldn't resist and stepped onto the battlefield themselves, hoping to crush the Crimson Family's last resistance with a violent thunderbolt and end this long and arduous Sorcerer War as soon as possible.

The seven 3rd ranked witches lined up, each using their own methods, floating above the camp, their fierce and incomparable Qi condensed into an invisible will, heavy on the Crimson family's camp.

On the other hand, on the Crimson side, apart from Mary and Oliven, the two 3rd rank proudly standing in the void, facing off against each other coldly, there were no other 3rd rank witches. Regardless of momentum or numbers, they were far from being able to compare with the Fabreus family on the opposite side.

"You're the Mary Witch, right?" The 3rd rank male witch of the Fabres family, Zamu, stepped out and smiled at the red witch who was hovering in the air with her bat wings flapping, "All the power your Crimson family could muster is here. If you fail, you will all lose everything. Not only will you have no family, no resources, you won't even be able to establish yourselves here anymore. So... surrender!"

"As long as you are willing to surrender, I will consult Lord Declan and give you the best treatment. At that time, you will still be respected wizards, and you will still be able to *walk* freely under this sky, so why not?"

"Persuade to surrender?" The gorgeous Mary blossomed with a squeaky smile.

"What's so funny?" A witch from the Fabres family stepped forward and said coldly, "Don't delude yourselves into continuing to resist. Otherwise you will not only lose everything after your defeat, but you will not even find peace with your lives and souls!"

"Oh...you're talking about the wrong person for that!" Mary continued with a coquettish smile, "The Crimson Family isn't mine, it's his...if you want to persuade him to surrender, you'd better talk to him."

As Mary's voice fell, on top of the floating giant ship located above the Crimson Family's camp, a burning, powerful pillar of fire rose into the sky, and a top-heavy, majestic human form stepped out from within.

A deafeningly loud cheer immediately erupted from within the Crimson Family....
