Age of Adepts

Chapter 1112 - Breaking the Defensive Line

When the dissimilar beasts appeared on the floating city, the arcane masters were already prepared for battle.

Rows of arcane puppets formed a dense square formation, blocking the front of the arcane masters.

They were of different types and almost encompassed most of the battle positions on the battlefield.

At the forefront was a row of particularly tall and sturdy Arcane Puppets.

Their general height was already as tall as ten meters.

Compared to the other puppets, the metal components on their bodies were almost completely covered, and they were extremely thick and sturdy. The surface of the metal components was etched with all sorts of strange magic patterns and arcane secrets, and the raging arcane energy in their bodies penetrated through the cracks of the components, condensing into a layer of arcane barrier on their bodies.

The sturdiness of the red copper combined with the good conductivity of magical silver made them into a powerful war puppet that was both magical and armed. Their weapons were their huge metal fists and terrifying legs that were 2 meters thick.

When they stood in a row and charged at the enemy, the entire world would tremble and shake with them.

Behind the war puppets were rows of 3-meter tall battle puppets that had been sculpted and polished to look like steel knights. They were like a human knight wearing full steel armor, holding two steel greatswords with a blade length of one and a half meters in their hands.

They followed closely behind the war puppet, dancing the greatswords in their hands as if they were flying, and they looked like they were acting as guerrillas.

Behind the steel guards, on the other hand, were a large number of ordinary Arcane Puppets.

Although their physical combat abilities were a little weaker, they all possessed the strange ability to release energy balls. Thus they acted as long-range attackers in the team.

As for the human arcane masters, all of them hid inside the arcane tower, where they manipulated the powerful arcane facilities to condense a thunderous lightning storm above the battlefield.

On such a battlefield, there was little room for the arcane apprentices to display their abilities, so they were also all sent into the inner ring area of the Floating City, where they were centrally protected.

Initially, the dissimilarized beasts that rushed onto the Floating Sky City were sparse after all, and were unable to break through the strong defensive line formed by the Arcane Puppets. As soon as one of the alienated beasts rushed over, before they could even touch the first row of war puppets, they were blasted into a blood paste by the raining down energy balls.

However, as time continued, more and more alienated beasts rushed up to the Floating Sky City along the rushing stone pillars, and even the sky was occupied by a black and red, wantonly weaving and whistling alien beast.

There was a muffled thud.

The Evil Hoof appeared in front of the arcane puppet defense line with a powerful momentum, looking at the sternly awaiting puppet team as it raised its body, its lotus petal-shaped mouthpiece trembling rapidly.

Like a trumpeter blowing the horn to charge, the more and more alienated beasts gathered immediately roared and rushed towards the puppet defense line.

The lightning storm that had already coalesced at the front of the battlefield struck immediately, and a thick thunder lightning bolt struck down, electrifying one of the alienated beasts with smoke all over their body, and their life energy even dropped wildly.

However, the different beasts were apparently fearless in life and death, as they went through the minefield like an open flood and collided head-on with the war puppets in the first row.

The war puppets, which were like steel giants, stood frozen in place, kicking or smashing, hard cutting the black torrent into even thinner strands. The dissimilar beasts that broke through the war puppets immediately became entangled with the steel guards.

Knock knock knock....

Boom....

Click, click, click, click....

All sorts of strange sounds intertwined on the battlefield front, deafening and bloodcurdling.

With a muffled thud, Grim stepped out from an aura of exploding flames, ignoring the few charred alien beasts at his side, gathering his eyes and peering out over the entire battlefield.

At this time, the battle was still mainly concentrated in the Outer Ring region.

The large number of arcane masters sent by Floating Sky City used the power of the arcane puppet army and the arcane tower to rigidly keep the herd of alienated beasts at the outer ring. Within the field of vision, there were killing battlefields of flesh and blood and deadly areas of energy glowing everywhere, but instead, the inner ring of Floating Sky City appeared unusually tranquil.

"Well? Let's break into the inner ring first and make a run for it, scavenge for resources along the way?" Hundreds of meters away from Grim, the Holly Wizard, wrapped in starry armor, had also just set foot on the surface of the floating city.

Behind the two of them, that Qiu Lisa, who had concealed herself by some unknown means, was also sneaking a peek at the battlefield.

"The Austrians' line of defense can only block the alienated beasts, not us. However, we don't know anything about the situation inside, and we can easily be ambushed by the Occultists if we just go in with a big thorn in our side..." thought Grim, vetoing the Holly Witch's opinion.

"So what do you mean..." the Holly Wizard said hesitantly.

"Help the Evil Hoof open a passage in the defensive line, let some of the alienated beasts into the inner ring, and then we'll sneak in there and make a big deal out of it. That way, with the alien beasts drawing attention for us, we're much less likely to be ambushed!"

"Okay, all yours!"

After a brief deliberation, the two daring wizards also immediately took action.

In terms of attacking and conquering, the Holly Sorcerer who possessed star quality armor still had to take Grim much more smoothly.

Seeing that he was mixed in with the group of dissimilar beasts and kept advancing forward, the thunder and lightning that struck down at a high speed were scattered into some electrical energy under the strange starlight before they could get close to his body.

And after he was a hundred meters close to a war puppet, Woodland raised his hands high and condensed a half-meter thick pillar of light between his two palms, instantly shooting towards the other side.

Very strangely, this pillar of light penetrated the arcane barrier outside the war puppet's body and directly shone on its broad and huge metal chest.

Hey, what kind of spectrum of light is this, why can't it perceive the proper energy vibe? Lacking energy support, what are the dangers of such a light?

Just as Grim was secretly puzzled, the seemingly harmless pillar of light suddenly emitted bits of starlight that began to rapidly erode the metal body of the war puppet. It was unknown what kind of energy substance those starlight was made of, but it had an unusually strong corrosive effect on the metal.

Visible to the naked eye, the metal on the war puppet's chest was dissolved by the starlight like a powder, peeling off layer by layer.

A small crater quickly appeared!

The Auror who was hiding in the distant arcane tower controlling the war puppet was the first to notice something was wrong and immediately drove the war puppet to pan horizontally trying to dodge the strange light pillar.

But the War Puppet's size was too large after all, and its movement couldn't compare to the deflection of the light pillar in the Holly Sorcerer's palm. Therefore, under the rapid erosion of the strange starlight, the pit quickly collapsed, almost about to etch through the war puppet's chest that was one meter thick.

Underneath the chest was the location of the war puppet's most important energy center.

Once the Austrian energy core was damaged, the war puppet would still be deadly with a single blow, turning it into a useless pile of scrap metal, despite the fact that the other parts of the war puppet were not damaged much.

As the situation became critical, the distant Arcane Tower suddenly glowed with light, and a winding chain of violent lightning stretched across nearly a kilometer of the battlefield space, striking at the Holly Wizard.

With a frown on his brow, Grim stretched out his hand, and the violent fire elements quickly gathered on the surface of Holly Wizard's body, intending to form a lava shield to protect him from damage.

However, when exposed to the strange star glow of Holly Wizard's star armor, the lava shield abruptly dispersed into a sea of fire before it took shape, losing its protective ability.

This star glow of the Holly Sorcerer seemed to attack indiscriminately, isolating even his allies' gain additions.

Just as Grim was already Holly Witch was about to take a hard hit from this violent strike from the Tower of Orbital, a thick stone pillar rose from the middle of the battlefield, blocking the attack path of the violent lightning chain.

Stab....

With an explosion, the violent lightning chain electrified the thick stone pillar into a stark white, and then the powerful energy that had no way to ventilate it exploded it into stone chips.

It was the Evil Hoof... it had just blocked that strike!

Grim burned his eyes away, and that evil hoof emerged from the herd of alienated beasts and grimly shrieked, "Attack... attack... keep attacking! You just attack that big guy, and I'll block the rest of the attacks for you. If you can put it down, I'll send you resources of equal weight!"

"A promise? Watch me!" The Holly Wizard was delighted at the news, and the thick pillar of light between his two palms grew more solid and fierce.

Grim sneered heedlessly and continued to stride forward.

As he moved forward, his hands shot out a blazing fireball of deep and restrained color.

These fireballs were clearly different from ordinary witchcraft fireballs, imbued with a hint of powerful and strange flame law power. Even an arcane puppet without any breath of life was in a different kind of 'severe pain' when struck by such fireballs.

Those 1st stage Arcane Puppets caught in the fireball would have the metal rings around their bodies directly melt away. Thus, Grim's blazing fireballs rumbled like cannonballs through the arcane puppet formations, blowing over one arcane puppet to the ground and sweeping everything away like a crazy autumn wind.

Even those 2nd rank Steel Guards couldn't withstand the bombardment of 2-3 incandescent fireballs.

Thus, with some wild bombardment from Grim, a path of flames that penetrated the puppet's defense line appeared!

And while the Olympians were busy trying to deploy the rest of the region's Olympian puppets over to fill the gap, the ten-meter tall war puppet suddenly had a continuous explosion within its body, and countless metal parts and components on the surface of its entire body were blown away.

It shook its massive body and staggered forward for two steps before finally falling on its back.

As it fell, its heavy body even crushed the ground beneath it that had been cured and strengthened by hundreds of arcane means.

The fall of this war puppet also opened a pathway to the inner ring on the frontal battlefield that stretched for several kilometers, and countless dissimilar beasts trampled on its remains and traveled through the path of flame, rushing unstoppably towards the inner ring area of Floating Sky City.

The defensive line had been breached!
