Age of Adepts

Chapter 1122 - Libraries

By now, however, Brown and Lucia had completely put life and death out of their minds, still asking and answering questions in this simple and small 'safe house', basking in the joy of knowledge inheritance and acquisition.

Maybe this world will be destroyed in the next second, maybe the two of them will be ashes in the next second, but at this moment, they are still holding on for their little simple and stubborn ideas and beliefs, in practice.......

This was the belief they had made on the first day they came into contact with the knowledge of the arcane, and they were willing to give everything they had, even their own lives, for it.

This was perhaps the fundamental reason why the Arcane Empire had been able to rise quickly in the short span of nearly ten thousand years, and become an eye-catching and powerful force in the Multiverse!

The desire and anticipation in Lucia's eyes intensified as she heard the explanation from the Brown Arcane Master.

However, just as she opened her mouth to continue to ask some questions, a loud and earth-shattering bang sounded, and the arcane barrier of the Hall of Learning was no longer able to withstand the scorching of the terrifying flames, bursting into a sky of fire debris and fireworks.

Rolling waves of heat and originless heavenly fire instantly surged into the hall.

Lucia felt as if she had been thrown into a lava volcano, and the tossing and shaking air was filled with terrifying heat. And her clothes, long hair, skin, as well as the blood and bones in her body were all rapidly shriveling and withering under the terrifying heat baking, with a great tendency to turn to ash in an instant.

And she did her best to turn her head and look somewhere outside the hall.

There, a huge, extremely large Flame Giant was standing tall, striding into the Hall of Learning.

What a majestic towering Flame Giant this was!

Looking at that flaming body, everywhere could see the flaming elves flying happily, everywhere could feel the burning sensation brought by the stream of hot flames... The other party's towering body was projecting endless light and heat outwards, just by casting her gaze on the Flame Giant had already caused Lucia's eyes to be burned blind, and her entire body was starting to melt like a roasted candle.

Not only her, even the 2 ring strength Brown was unable to bear the great divine power of the Flame Giant at close range, his clothes were first ignited, then the skin on his face, hands and body began to float with large blisters, and his entire body fell into a state of extreme pain.

If he were an ordinary person, perhaps the moment the burning field covered him, he would have been ashes and smoldering. And it was his 2 ring arcane strength that allowed him to struggle through the burning field for a dozen more flexes, and he suffered for it.

Yet even in this painful situation, Brown still didn't defend himself, but instead injected all of his arcane power into the layer of arcane barrier outside of Lucia's body. He himself, on the other hand, was rapidly incinerated into ash in the bursting flames that rose up into the sky, turning into a terrifying charred corpse.

Only the power of a 2-ringed arcane master could not survive Grim's burning field, even with all his strength. Thus Lucia, whom Brown had protected at the cost of his own death, didn't survive more than a few seconds, and as the power on the arcane barrier was rapidly depleted, Lucia followed the other's lead and began to rapidly step into death.

"Power...so that's what it's called!" Lucia's eyes were burned into hollows, dumbfoundedly facing that Flame Giant, her mouth muttering to herself.

The moment the arcane barrier was burned through, her body turned to ashes along with it, and even her soul began to melt a little under the strange flames.

And at the final moment of her soul's demise, a high pitched and unfamiliar voice suddenly sounded in the depths of her soul.

"Hm? What a pure one soul..."

As he spoke, a strange cavity seemed to open up in the depths of the flames, and Lucia's soul was involuntarily sucked into the past and disappeared into the black hole, no longer having any sense.

Grim weighed the dark jewel in his hand, sensing that the weak soul was standing muddled in the pestle, and nodded his head in satisfaction, putting the jewel away again.

That moment just now was very strange, but after casually exterminating the two little guys, the chip even strangely perceived the projected breath of bit consciousness on one of the guys. And that guy was still the weaker of the two, probably just an arcane apprentice.

It was reasonable to say that such a guy would not be able to attract the attention of the bit consciousness, but just now, at the moment when Grim waved his hand and incinerated them into ash, Chip truly felt the slight fluctuation of the bit consciousness.

It was a bizarre feeling that was hard to describe!

It was as if the bit consciousness of the Morienne plane was always silently watching over this weak arcane apprentice, so when Grim unintentionally exterminated it, it also drew the bit consciousness' deep hatred and full malice.

So, out of a sense of curiosity, Grim's mind made use of the strange shadow power of the 5th Order Dark Jewel to involve this weak soul and trap it there.

And after doing all this, only then did Grim shake his body, slowly retreating from his Flame Giant form and resuming his human body.

His battle with that Wraith Kanganus was inconclusive.

When the terrifying battle between the Evil Hoof and the 5-Ringed Great Olympian erupted there in the Arcane Hall in the central area of Floating City, the Witch Kangonas finally gave up on fighting Grim and turned around and rolled up with that 4th Order Ice Ghost whirling towards the distant battlefield.

Looking at its meaning, it seemed to be trying to snipe and rush to find a bargain.

And although Grim wasn't afraid of this witch demon in the slightest, but considering its own strength, it still chose to search for some loot in the periphery. As for that Mangus and Qiu Lisa, apparently they had suffered considerable injuries in the battle with the Ice Demon and had to find another place to run and heal their wounds.

Thus, Grim simply remained in this arcane academy and casually walked around inside.

After passing through a few corridors that had collapsed nearly halfway and turning some corners, at the end of a corridor, Grim suddenly discovered a black wooden door with vague elemental fluctuations.

Grim pushed it with his hand, and it didn't budge.

There was a strange bronze face floating above the black wooden door, and with a flash of yellow light, this bronze face slowly opened its eyes.

"Secret language... secret language... this is the secret library of the Dornedale Academy of the Occult, no outsiders are allowed to visit. If you wish to enter, please speak the secret language of passage!"

Listening to the other party's strange, almost mechanical voice, Grim's impatient eyes hardened, and a golden flame curled out, burning a large enough hole in this black wooden door for himself to pass through.

A small arcane secret door was only a small door, so how could it possibly stop the intrusion of a 4th stage powerhouse.

"Drip, odd alarm message detected..." the chip gave quick feedback.

Apparently Grim's forced entry had triggered the defense mechanism of the library, and under normal circumstances, there should have been a large number of heavily armed arcane masters rushing over soon to surround Grim.

Unfortunately, at this moment, the entire Floating City was in chaos.

Even the Arcane Hall in the central district had been attacked by evil hooves, so how could those Arcane Masters with a bit of power come to this remote place to find trouble with Grim.

Therefore, Grim ignored the warning message and stepped inside, silently looking around at everything inside.

It was an extremely large and bright library, and everywhere you could see rows of golden shelves filled with books, densely packed with wide books that were all slightly emitting an arcane aura. Looking at the exquisite cover decorations and the faintly faint arcane aura, it was obvious that they were not ordinary goods.

Seeing everything here, Grim couldn't help but frown slightly.

Bans... too many bans!

Apparently in order to prevent someone from overstepping their authority to look through the books, all the arcane books were blocked off and were in the guardianship of a single *independent and powerful arcane rune formation.

Although the entire floating city had lost the support of arcane energy, these rune formations still remained intact, it seemed that there must be a small elemental pool underneath this library that was supporting its operation as well.

Grim wasn't interested in destroying that elemental pool anymore.

He slowly browsed along the rows of bookshelves, and once he became interested in a particular arcane book, his eyes projected two crimson lines of fire, etching the arcane runes through raw, before probing and grabbing the book in his hands and shoving it inside the Elder's Ring of Authority.

As time was running out, Grim didn't have much time to slowly unlock each and every one of the arcane runes, so he had to use this most clumsy way to brute force.

Of course, if Grim didn't care about book damage, a Flame Storm thrown out would burn through most of the arcane symbols. But then, I'm afraid that many of the arcane books would be difficult to preserve intact.

Listening to the tsunami of elemental explosions outside, coupled with the violent tremors that came from time to time, one could imagine how chaotic and tormented the Floating City was at this time.

Grim, on the other hand, completely abandoned everything and began to concentrate on collecting and scouring the arcane books here.

Unlike Grim's leisurely and relaxed manner, in another place not too far away, two strange figures were following the trace of flames that remained in the air to retrieve the Arcane Academy, and then to the hall of learning that had completely collapsed and melted.

The original location where the hall had been had turned into a terrifying pool of molten lava, all the stone walls, pillars, and rubble had disappeared, and only a patch of fluid magma gurgling with terrifying heat could be seen.

"I've sensed that bastard's scent, and it's within a chamber not far behind. Come on, let's go kill him!" The one who spoke was a strange black shadow walking in front.

Even though there was sufficient daylight at this time, the light shining on this strange shadow still made it difficult to see her face and body clearly. One could only vaguely perceive that she was a female, and an exceptionally powerful one at that.

The fellow immediately behind her looked frustrated and angry, yet he was clearly helpless against the former.

"You're a man of your word, aren't you? I'll help you kill Grim and you'll set me free?" By the sound of his voice, the person behind him was the same Holly Sorcerer who had disappeared on the battlefield earlier.

At this time, he was the same person who was wearing the silver witch robe, but the top of his visible forehead was branded with a strange black rune, emitting a weird magic fluctuation all the time.

"Hehe, you already have the seed of darkness implanted in you, and ordinary sorcery can't get rid of it. So, just be good and help me kill that Grim, and I'll swear in the name of the Dark Origin that I will dispel the darkness ban on you." That black figure was naturally the re-animated Dark Witch Shani.

Although she had been resurrected and her strength had returned to rank 4, all of her sorcery equipment had been lost to Grim's hands. Therefore, she could only try her best to find some helpers for herself to deal with that damned fire witch, otherwise, she alone no longer had the confidence to kill that Grim again.
