Age of Adepts

Chapter 1123 - Constrained at Every Turn

"But I still carry the oath contract on me, just in case..."

The Holly Witch was still hesitating.

Through this arduous journey through, he was truly aware of the terrifying power of that legendary fire witch. To be honest, if it wasn't for the hand of the Life Manipulator, he would be a thousand times unwilling to be its enemy.

Before the Holly Witch's words were even finished, he suddenly bent over and coughed violently, opening his mouth to spew out a fountain of purple-black fetid blood. The blood splashed on the ground, surprisingly sticky as hell, and there seemed to be some broken flesh and blood organs and tissue fragments in it.

And as he coughed violently, his witch robe swung open, revealing a scarred and shocking looking body inside.

The sneak attack by the werewolf and the fox girl still left him with injuries that were difficult to heal in the short term, and now that he was subjected to Shani, his entire state could simply be described as debilitating and miserable to the extreme.

Unfortunately, his life and death didn't seem to be within the scope of Dark Witch Shani's attention at all.

Hearing Holly Witch's muttering, Shani hatefully retorted, "Holly, you're at least a 4th rank witch who has been promoted for hundreds of years, can't you even survive the backlash of this little oath contract? Here you go... With this life amulet, you won't have to worry about that oath contract anymore!"

With that, Shani casually felt a cross-shaped brass statue from her belt pouch and tossed it to Holly.

Holly hurriedly took it and carefully wore it on his neck, close to his chest.

After being held hostage by Shani, his storage ring fell into the other man's hands, and most of his personal witchcraft became his trophies. And it was only by ransacking Holly that Shani was able to rearm herself.

Although their attributes didn't match, considering that Shani was currently in the midst of poverty, she wasn't in a position to pick and choose what to dislike.

A simple makeover and barely being able to drive would suffice!

So, the life amulet that was casually tossed by Shani was actually originally Holly's, and was now nothing more than 'returned to its owner'.

"Let's go! That Grim looks like he's busy with something, so we'll just join forces and attack over there. I'll make the first move later, then you'll explode with all your might and give him a good beating. If this works, I'll set you free! If you still have the same attitude when the battle starts, hmm, you know the consequences of things..."

Hearing Shani's threat, the Holly Wizard's face was gloomy.

His current state was already incomparably poor, and his external and internal injuries were simply about to destroy his body. If he hadn't relied on witchcraft pills and sorcery props to hold on, I'm afraid he would have been dead by now.

His current body was simply like a broken house, barely holding on. If the seed of darkness implanted in him by the other party were to make a scene again, it would simply be fatal. Therefore, despite his millions of reluctance, he could only bow down to his fate.

...........

Inside the library.

Grim quickly broke open one arcane rune after another, taking in a strangely shaped and swinging arcane glowing book within the power ring.

And while he was doing all this with great enthusiasm, the few Eyes of Fire he had reserved for the outside seemed to have captured something strange, sending a dynamic picture to Grim's mind.

Holly and Shani....

It seemed that they had found it in the end.

As soon as he saw the dark witch Shani, who had apparently just been revived not long ago, Grim's face showed a hint of overpowering killing intent.

The other party's ungratefulness and unforgiveness had obviously deeply angered him.

If there was a chance, this time he would never let the other party's soul have a chance to return to the Spiritual Energy Pool again.

At some point, this spacious and obviously knowledgeable hall suddenly became dim.

Strands of black swirls of air appeared out of nowhere, slowly cruising and drifting in every corner of the Hall of Knowledge.

Wherever they passed, the light seemed to be absorbed a little, and the entire space gradually became dull and dark.

A few of the arcane crystals embedded in the walls originally cast a bright and soft light, illuminating the entire hall, but now they were entangled in a mass of black swirls of air, becoming dim and dull.

A great hall of knowledge, by Grim cracked and scavenged only a hundred and one, looking at the remaining arcane books, Grim frowned in distress, and finally chose to give up.

The enemy had come to the door, and the scavenging had to be suspended.

In a moment, this place would become a battlefield for several 4th ranked witches, and the books that would survive would then be a hundred and one!

At the thought of this, Grim's hatred for that Shani grew stronger in his heart.

In just a dozen or so bending fingers, this originally spacious and bright knowledge hall had already become outstretched, filled with sticky, black, dense, strange shadow substances.

These oddities forced their way in from all directions, teeth and claws open, as if they were thousands of demons in a ghostly ghost.

"Hmph, show yourself when you come! What's the point of playing God..."

Grim snorted lightly and raised his right hand, and a cluster of bright burning golden flames slowly floated up in his palm, illuminating the dozens of meters of space around him.

As soon as the shadowed matter intruded into the area, they were like swimming fish thrown into a frying pan, emitting strange scorching noises. And they were also squeaking and escaping from the illumination range of the golden flame.

From the way they behaved, it seemed that these shadow substances were all alive!

Seemingly sensing that Grim was ready for battle, that dark witch Shani's thin and tall body slowly emerged at the edge of the golden aperture, a pair of dark and deep pupils staring at Grim with unspeakable intense hatred imbued within.

"Good... really good... I really can't believe that a newcomer who has just been promoted for only twenty or thirty years has caused me, Shani, to suffer such a great setback. You're good... Today, the hatred between us will be washed away with your blood!"

As soon as the words fell, the shadow matter in the entire hall abruptly boiled.

Countless Shadow Arrows emerged from the void, shooting at Grim from all directions like a rain of arrows.

The golden flame floating in Grim's palm blossomed with a dazzling golden aura, continuously annihilating and neutralizing the incoming arrows. However, the Law power imbibed within it was still too scant to resist such an incoming amount of shadow power.

The exploding Shadow Arrows turned into a cloud of ebony ink, and soon the golden aperture was continuously shrinking, and the deeper Shadow Arrows were even about to touch the protective force field outside of Grim's body.

Faced with the overwhelming ferocity of the opponent's incoming attack, Grim didn't panic in the slightest.

As he casually waved out an aura of flame, burning away the shadow matter that had invaded his side, he smoothly pulled out a strange black stone from his bosom.

Strangely enough, with the appearance of this strange black stone, the shadow matter in the entire hall suddenly stagnated. All of the shaping Shadow Arrows suddenly burst in unison, reverting back to scattered and disordered Shadow Matter.

"Shadow Jewel... you... how could you possibly control the power inside the Shadow Jewel?"

Seeing the scene in front of her and sensing the Shadow Power that was gradually getting a little out of control, the Dark Witch Shani couldn't help but scream in shock.

In her perception, a dark holy object like the Jewel of Shadows would only operate according to the will of the Dark Witches, and could not be driven by outsiders from outside the race.

Unfortunately, she had no idea and understanding of the power of that chip in Grim's mind.

As long as it was power, it didn't matter what attribute it had, the chip would be able to find the means to manipulate and drive it!

Power is power, and there is no elemental power on earth that belongs exclusively to one person or group.

Except for divine power.

With the assistance of the chip, Grim was able to harness the Shadow Jewel, and although it wasn't as handy as the Dark Witches, it was still possible to simply manipulate the power within.

Therefore, in the face of Shani's attack, Grim didn't have to do anything else, only need to use the Shadow Jewel to reject Shani's control over the surrounding shadow matter was also enough. Even with Grim's order, the shadow substances within the entire hall were cast into the Shadow Jewel like birds returning to the forest, allowing the place to regain its original appearance once again.

The bottom of the kettle....

Without these ubiquitous shadow substances, Dark Witch Shani was like a fish thrown onto the shore, not only did she lose the barrier to lend her invisibility, she couldn't even cast most of her shadow sorcery.

Dark Witches were originally a strange combat profession between a witch and an assassin, and once they were forced out of the Shadow Space by Grim, they were less dangerous and could no longer pose a threat.

Shani shrieked and screamed, spilling thick, inky black smoke around her body, trying to wrap herself up again.

Unfortunately, Grim lifted the Shadow Jewel and shook it at her, and the black smoke was instantly absorbed, causing Shani, who was creeping around trying to dive away from her position, to once again leak out.

"Bastard...you deserve to die!"

Shani screamed madly and could only summon a 4th rank Shadow Dragon with the aid of the shadow matter within her body, directing the latter to launch a mad attack on Grim.

Unfortunately, although the Shadow Dragon had a strong physique and great divine power that was not inferior to that of an ordinary dragon, its body was also imbued with too much Shadow Matter. And as long as there was shadow matter, it would be impossible for it to escape the control and restraints of the Shadow Jewel.

Grim stood proudly with the Jewel in his hand.

Before the shadow dragon could reach Grim's side, it was bound by the shadow power spreading out from its own body in five different ways. A sheet of pitch-black, dark shadow power rapidly extended on the surface of its body, then transformed into a substantial-like pitch-black chain that bound it securely.

"Holly, if you don't do something, I'm going to launch the Dark Seed!"

With the Shadow Jewel, all of Shani's attacks would be ineffective against Grim, so she could only resentfully pin all her hopes on that Holly Witch.

Under her hissing and roaring, the doors of the library splintered with a thud, and a tall humanoid figure measuring 3 meters in height and wrapped in strange silver armor barged straight in.
