Age of Adepts

Chapter 1157 - The Association Shaman's Visit

Throne of Fire.

Since returning from the Morian Plane, except for a trip to the Domain, Grim had spent almost all of his time deep in hiding within the Witch Tower.

Now that his soul was both wounded and crippled, it was the perfect moment for those enemies to take revenge on him!

So, if he could stay out, Grim would never take a step out of the Witch Tower without giving the enemy a chance to assassinate or lay a trap.

But unfortunately, the tree was still standing!

On the seventh day after Grim had harvested the Shadow Demon, a guest from afar broke the tranquility of the Flame Throne and forced Grim to walk out of the lab to personally meet the other party on the second floor of the Sorcerer's Tower.

Walking into the meeting room, the first thing Grim saw was naturally the extremely familiar Vice President Milva.

It had only been some days since we had seen each other, but this cunning vice-president looked much more haggard and pale than before, and a hint of aging was already visible on him.

Such a phenomenon was not common!

At this level of the 4th stage, there were countless secret techniques such as the residual face technique and the return to old age. If it was not possible, there were also flesh*body transformation and many other means to keep one's face and body always at the peak and most beautiful moment.

It was only when a 4th rank wizard entered the later stages of life, with the decline of witch power and spiritual exhaustion, that such signs of aging that could not be concealed would appear.

Grim had a feeling that this Vice President of Mirwa might not live to be a hundred years old!

Grim's gaze only rested on Vice President Milva's body for a moment before swiftly shifting to the other 4th rank wizard.

He could perceive that this strange 4th rank wizard was the true protagonist of the trip. And that Vice President Milva was just a companion.

"Welcome... It's rare that Vice President Milva is willing to visit the humble abode, but I feel infinitely honored!" Grim greeted Milva with a smile on his face, and it was only fitting that the conversation would lead to the other wizard, "Your Excellency is a bit of an eyesore, I wonder how to address him?"

This strange male sorcerer clearly did not belong to the Scattered Earth Tarin, dressed in purple witch robes, with a kind and calm appearance, looking just approaching middle age, wearing the unique magic badge of the Sorcerer's Association on his chest.

Sorcerer's Association... Grim's eyes narrowed, already roughly knowing the other party's intention!

"This must be His Excellency, the famous and legendary Fire Witch Grim! It's as rumored, young and talented... I'm Beruni, from the Sorcerer's Association, and I have some questions I'd like to ask in person today!" Beruni's face was filled with a gentle smile, but the sharp eyes that were inadvertently revealed at the corners of his eyebrows also showed that it was by no means as easy to talk to as it seemed.

"Since you have something to say to each other, then I will not accompany you!" Milva was obviously an old fox, and although the people were accompanied by him, he clearly didn't want to stay out of it, and after simply greeting the two, he turned to leave.

When only Grim and Beruni were left in the room, the latter finally spoke once again.

"Sir Grim, it is said that the Mangus Wizard of our Association had traveled with you in the Morian Plane and returned out of the Domain together...is this a fact?"

"Good!"

"In other words, the Mangus Wizard was still alive before he teleported back out of the domain, but he died suddenly during the teleportation, and... his death is still somewhat related to you!" Beruni was still smiling and asking questions, but his words were already hinting at an edge.

"He died by blowing himself up, and the purpose of blowing himself up was to try to kill me... I'm sure you can clearly investigate that by visiting the wizards who returned at the same time." Grim said matter-of-factly.

"Of course we investigated...and the conclusion was not far from what Your Excellency said. From the scene, it seems that it was indeed the Mangus Sorcerer who initiated the attack on you, and his death cannot be blamed entirely on you. However...what we are more concerned about is...why did he do it? Is there some kind of hatred between him and you, or is someone else controlling your mind to do this? . that's what we're investigating right now!"

"Since you've been investigating for so long, you should have come to some conclusions! I can't suspect that I bewitched Mangus and let him almost get me killed!"

"Of course we won't suspect His Excellency Grim... However, the real murderer behind the curtain we must find out. Although Mangus Wizard's strength is inferior and he doesn't have many connections, he is, after all, a high-ranking wizard officially registered with our Witchcraft Association. Regardless of who used what means to kill him, our Sorcerer's Association has the responsibility to investigate and exact revenge!"

"The people behind the scenes who can easily confuse and control a 4th rank witch are definitely those old guys who have been at large outside the domain, are you sure you have the ability to retaliate against them?" Grim narrowed his eyes, his face devoid of any hint of a smile, looking especially solemn and dignified.

"That is not a matter for His Excellency to worry about!" The Beruni Wizard smiled with a 'sincere' face, "It's not like our Wizard Association doesn't have the backing of a great wizard. The internal matters of the Wizard World can be solved by our group, while the extra-territorial matters, as long as we report them, there will naturally be guys with more ability to step in. Therefore, we just need a name to confirm whether our investigation is correct. I'm sure that His Excellency Grim wouldn't mind giving out the name of the murderer who harmed you, right?"

Grim pondered carefully for half a day before finally squeezing a name out of his teeth that he abhorred.

"Misa!"

To be able to use the power of the Wizard's Association to deal with the Great Witch Misa, such a good thing Grim would naturally be desirable. But rashly introducing an even greater variable into Alice and Misa's struggle, even Grim had a hard time assessing whether such a thing would have a negative impact on Alice as well.

The struggle between the two Fate Witches was too bizarre, too unbelievable!

In all aspects, the Misa Witch had the advantage of total crushing power when facing Alice.

However, in the past series of air battles, the Misa Grand Sorceress clearly failed to meet her standards, creating death traps that were full of errors and omissions, which really did not fit her identity and strength.

The reason for such a situation had to do with her unbridled meddling and interference in the long river of destiny. The stronger her strength, the deeper she interfered with fate, and the more severe the fate reversal caused.

Without Alice's existence, Misa's familiarity and control of fate would not have been so bad as to compromise her professionalism. However, the bit consciousness of the wizard world, in order to counter Misa, actually favored Alice in this battle of fate.

Once the two powerful witches, who were also intimately familiar with the workings of the long river of destiny, crossed paths, the entire path of destiny was disturbed and confused.

In general, the Misa Grand Witch was stronger, and possessed thousands of years of layout and planning, and was still in a position of overall overwhelming strength. But Alice, although she didn't have the means to lay out her destiny, had the ability to mess and destroy.

An incomparably large metal puppet could be paralyzed because the core machinery got stuck into a small stone. And that was the case with Alice, although she didn't have the means to challenge Misha's authority on the control of the Fate River, she was able to do a little sabotage and make Misha's layout and plans fall apart because of a small 'accident'.

Such an ability, she still possessed!

The past Alice had only survived a series of blows from the Great Witch of Misa with this kind of tactic.

But wounding an enemy by a thousand, and injuring herself by eight hundred!

Alice, as well as her relatives and helpers around her have also borne a considerable bit of bitterness for this.

One of the main reasons why Alice had been hiding in the tower of fate for years, almost rarely communicating with the outside world, was that she didn't want the fate she had taken on to implicate her loved ones.

To put it bluntly, those whose lives weren't 'hard' enough, and who got too close to Alice, would definitely die an exceptionally miserable death! And Grim made so many enemies, almost war after war, and had to go through a life and death test every now and then.

That was the most fundamental reason!

Fate is treacherous....

Fate is capricious....

It was because of the unpredictability of fate that also caused Grim to become a little hesitant about whether or not to divulge Misa's name to the other party.

"It really is her..." hearing Misa's name, that Beruni wizard's face didn't look too surprised though. Instead, after exchanging a few more pleasantries with Grim, he simply got up and took his leave.

When the other party left the Flame Throne, Grim stood in the parlor for a small moment before returning to the upper level of the Witch Tower again.

The experiment was a success!

Neither the cunning Milva nor Beruni from the Sorcerer's Association were aware of the Shadow Demon's presence. Of course, this was also related to the fact that they were within Grim's private witch tower and did not dare to be too presumptuous in scanning and perceiving their surroundings with their mental energy.

However, for a newly refined Shadow Demon to have such a concealment ability was enough to make Grim overjoyed!

After returning to the upper level of the Witch Tower, Grim had another mental connection with the distant Gargamel and received another piece of good news.

Crimson Family and Melting Fire City had privately signed a trade contract, and in the future, Crimson Family would be able to exchange high level resources such as dragon blood, dragon bones, and dragon crystals for the Quillus Alloy, which was a specialty of Melting Fire City.

Based on the amount of the deal negotiated between the two sides, Grim estimated that they would be able to create a magical melting furnace every two months from now on. This also meant that the Crimson Family would be able to create an additional floating giant ship every two months.

This was of pivotal importance to the expansion of the Crimson Family's strength!

However, just after Grim ended his mental connection with Gargamel, the Witch Tartar Spirit suddenly sent him an intrusion warning.

A strange 'worm' had actually gotten inside his witch tower and was searching the lower levels of it for something....
