Age of Adepts

Chapter 1197 - Spiritual World Wise Man

Although the Spirit Realm was a very odd world, there were many ordinary creatures that did not possess any supernatural abilities.

But these ordinary creatures weren't 'ordinary' either, at least they all possessed spiritual intelligence.

Not far from the crossing point, there was a rustling noise in the grass by the side of the road, and then a small white rabbit with red eyes emerged from it.

This strange white rabbit didn't seem to be afraid of humans, standing erect with a humane smile on its furry little face, and greeted the three.

"Greetings, foreign travelers! Welcome to the realm of spirits..."

The other party had a strange accent and peculiar tones, but without reason, Grim easily understood the content of the other's words.

"Hello... "Grim, still dressed as a wizard and leaning on his wand, looked the white rabbit up and down, but did not detect any signs of elemental energy gathering in the other party's body.

This point was simply too incredible!

It must be known that in most of the bit worlds, almost all of those who could be blinded to spiritual intelligence and communicate normally with humans were high level demons, and they would not be lower than 2nd level. After all, without magical energy support, ordinary creatures that wanted to maintain the unique way of thinking of intelligent beings couldn't do so with only a weak body and feeble vitality.

Lower-ranked creatures only had instincts and primary intelligence, and only higher-ranked creatures could give birth to a full spiritual intelligence!

This was general common sense in the Bit World, but it clearly didn't work in the Spirit Realm.

The current Spiritual Realm seemed to drastically weaken the other rules of the Bit World, but monstrously maintained the strength of the Spiritual Laws. This meant that the native creatures of the Spirit Realm might have very low biological levels, but they possessed a surprisingly high level of spiritual intelligence.

At least in the Wizarding World, most of the little white rabbits would only run around munching on grass, using their instincts to avoid the dangers of the natural world. How could they know how to think like the little guy in front of them, be able to distinguish dangers, and still know the existence of the bit world.

As Grim was quickly digesting and absorbing the strange contents of this world, the magical female Emelia standing behind Grim stood out in a high and mighty voice and shouted, "Which family's little guy are you, where is your lord?"

The white rabbit bolted upright in surprise, his pink nose sniffing at Emelia a few times, his three-petaled hare's lips parted in a far-fetched smile.

"You smell like those nasty spore people, and you seem to be another wanderer who's run away to a different world. Also, I'd like to introduce myself, I'm an Amulet of the Sydney family, an abandoned Amulet..."

"Where are your parents?"

"Those two old bastards left me behind and ran off to the beach on their own for a holiday..." At this point, Amm had a sad look on his face, and he looked like he was in tears.

And a scene naturally came to Grim's mind: two old rabbits on crutches, wearing vests and sunglasses, holding hands and walking side by side into the sunset....

Although the thought felt absurd, the moment the image appeared, Grim's heart had no reason to be convinced, as if he had actually seen the image once.

Hey, this Spirit Realm's bit of law seemed to be really a bit odd, not only did it not suppress the diffusion and expansion of thoughts in the slightest, but it had the effect of fueling them.

"Alright, alright, we don't have time to chat with you, hurry up and tell me where the wise men of this jungle are? We need to find it and ask for directions!" Emelia was, after all, considered a half-native creature, so she still had painful memories of their mouths breaking, and hurried to interrupt Amm's sentiment to ask the crucial question.

"Well, well, Ms. Nasty Sporeman, you'll meet the Wise Men three days' walk west from here. Also, remember to say hello for me when you pass Beta's hut."

The three of them said a brief goodbye to Amulet and immediately followed the direction it led them in the distance.

Inadvertently turning back, Grim even saw the little white rabbit, Amm, straightening up and shaking a white handkerchief that he had taken out of nowhere as he bid them a fond farewell.

That image, that scene, made Grim quite a bit ridiculous!

The journey had been an eye-opening one for Grim, and he had seen almost every kind of unimaginable scenario.

There were ducks with a grocery store by the side of the road, cats with huts in trees, apes playing hide and seek in sunflower fields, and many more living simple lives like intelligent beings living sunrise to sunset....

Of course, the arrival of Grim and his trio also made them restless and excited, coming out of their respective perches and greeting them in odd accents.

Even on one camping trip, a group of kittens wearing belly pockets and carrying pacifiers in their mouths ran into Grim's arms and frolicked about. And strangely enough, there weren't many indigenous creatures close by Emelia and the equally adorable-looking Remy.

Even Grim's composure was a bit overwhelmed at the absurdity of the scene.

He looked at a few of the little ones crawling around on top of him and frowned to communicate with Emelia mentally.

"Aren't any of the natives here afraid of life? Have they never heard of the horrors of wizards? Aren't they afraid that we'll eat them?" As he said this, Grim also had to frown to pull back a small cat that was curiously picking at the edge of the pot and looking inside, keeping it away from the bubbling hot stew pot.

"My lord, do not underestimate the native creatures here, they can have the keenest spiritual perceptions. If your heart is hostile to them, they will be the first to sense it!" Emelia crouched by the campfire, adding wood to the bottom of the pot while gently stirring the stew pot with an iron spoon.

The hot broth inside the stew pot kept on rolling and boiling while the heat was steaming, wrapping up some fresh mushrooms and chunks of stew meat.

The mushrooms were harvested from nearby, while the stew meat was brought over from the Wizard World.

Once in the Spirit Realm, Emelia had warned Grim and Remy that they could not kill any talking animals or plants here. Otherwise, they would not receive any help from the local natives for the rest of their journey.

On this point, Emelia was extremely solemn!

Hearing Emelia's reply, Grim couldn't help but fall into deep thought.

However, when he lowered his head again, he realized that the little milk cats that were playing non-stop in his arms earlier had actually gathered in a pile, looking at him with big, chocolaty eyes.

One of the first of the little milk cats cowered out and asked in a milky voice, "Venerable Lord Sorcerer, will you... will you eat us?"

Grim's face changed slightly.

He really didn't expect that after just communicating with Emelia in spirit words just now, with all the ideas still in his head without being put into practice, these little milk cats would already have a hint of sensing.

And without any signs of elemental cohesion or any traces of supernatural abilities on their bodies, yet they were able to sense and detect the hidden malice of a 4th rank wizard, how could this not make Grim lament!

"Don't worry, we witches aren't interested in little guys like you! If you eat fat and gain a few more titties, I might consider eating you..." said Grim, who also put on a fierce face and bared his teeth to intimidate them.

But strangely, even though Grim pretended to be fierce, the group of little milk cats cowered away, and instead swarmed into his arms again, where they fought in a ball.

"The creatures of the spirit world are naturally inclined to get close to those with superior mental powers, so the jungle wise man we are about to visit is also one of the wisest and most knowledgeable in the land. But most of these fellows have also learned the fair-trade trick of sorcerers when they're out and about, and will likely ask you for a trade."

"Trade? What kind of deal? What do I need to prepare in advance?"

"It's nothing. Most of their requests will ask for an exchange of some distinctive snacks, and only a handful of guys will make some other strange request. You're just free to choose as you see fit. If the wise guys here can't handle it, we can still go elsewhere and trade with the local wise guys!"

Grim pondered and inquired, "You mean that this realm of spirits does not divide its sphere of influence by race or region, and that every area operates with the wise men you speak of?"

"Yes!" Emelia nodded, "There are no so-called strong and weak people in the Spirit Realm, only so-called ordinary people and wise people. And these wise people are usually deity creatures who have signed contracts with the different planes and have seen other planes. Having merged the knowledge of the different planes, their wisdom and insight are undoubtedly the strongest in the eyes of the ordinary beings of the Spirit Realm."

Grim nodded silently, probably clear about the unique way the Spirit Realm operated.

Three days later, as expected, they met the 'wise man' in a thatched hut in a forest clearing.

It was a cheetah with beautiful black fur, but bizarrely had six claws and a strange sharp hook at the end of its long tail behind it. But the thing that surprised Grim the most about it was a soul shadow floating above its skull.

The Soul Void was no different from its original form, only that its form was more than ten times smaller.

Most of the Void's body was exposed outside of the skull, with only the lower end not reaching inside of the skull, linked to its soul origin.

Deedling... this was a 2nd stage Deedling creature!

Grim was able to truly perceive that the strange cheetah in front of him seemed to have signed a soul contract with some guy from a distant bit plane. And the latter would be able to summon it from the Spirit Realm to his own bit at any time by virtue of the contract.

Seeing this scene in front of him, for some reason, Grim felt that his understanding of this sorcery of otherworldly summoning had deepened by a few points.
