Age of Adepts

Chapter 1200 The Blight Mission

On this journey, Grim had seen many swamp giants.

They were also humanoid monsters, bloated and fat with oversized bodies, with stubby giant legs and octopus-like tentacle-like upper limbs, their bodies densely covered with a strange tumor-like substance.

Adult swamp giants were generally around ten meters in size, and even those juvenile little swamp giants were three meters or so in size.

And now this Moat Wise Man actually said that it was also a Swamp Giant. This... was clearly somewhat beyond Grim's comprehension.

From this, Grim further concluded that this Moat Wise Man must be a different species within the Swamp Giant race.

Only such a strange talent could make it stand out from the many swamp giants and become the guide, observer and wise man of this huge wetland swamp.

After opening his mouth for half a day, Grim finally nodded and said, "It seems that your Excellency must be a different species within the Swamp Giant Clan, otherwise it would not have been able to reach its current level..."

Although he was already a 4th level powerhouse who was proud of most of the creatures on the planes, this Moat Wise Man was still apparently living a simple and ordinary life. Even on its body, Grim rarely saw the dazzling, blinding energy glow of high level equipment.

The moss clothes wrapped around its body and the wooden staff it held in its hands showed no signs of energy gathering, nor did it have the unique law fluctuations of high level items, so they were obviously ordinary items... To put it bluntly, in the Wizard World, even an ordinary Wizard Apprentice couldn't be as shabby as it appeared! !

But then on second thought, Grim expressed his understanding.

After all, in order to build any high level item successfully, it would require the support of a vast amount of alchemical theory, as well as numerous techniques and means of building it. These things could not be conceived by one or two geniuses alone, and required a generation of individuals to continuously accumulate and push new things.

The Spirit Realm, on the other hand, clearly did not have any closely related systems of knowledge convergence in place.

The wise and powerful are like pearls scattered all over the spirit world, but they lack a thread to link them together, gather them together, and condense them into a single force.

Such a state was, to put it nicely, called free and easy, and to put it bluntly, called scattered sand!

It was no wonder that the other party, being a 4th stage strongman, was still living that primitive and simple life.

The two rank 4 powerhouses were gathered around the campfire, gulping down the thick soup made from the fire dragon ribs. The abundant energy scent also made Moat's gluttony so great that he almost swallowed his share in a wind-swept manner.

"What kind of creature's meat is this? The flame breath inside was so strong..." eating soundly, Moat even hiccupped as a cloud of dense fire came out of his mouth, "Cool... so cool! I've never had a steak with so much 'kick' in my life!"

"3rd-ranked fire dragon meat..." smiled Emelia who was holding a long iron spoon and stirring it in the soup pot, "This used to be a fire dragon feast that only our lord could enjoy, but today it's not to serve you, My lord wouldn't be willing to take it out!"

"Fire dragon meat... or a 3rd rank!" Moat couldn't help but grimace in amazement.

Dragons were fearsome creatures that ruled the skies high above in the eyes of all the Spirit Realm Wise Men.

Don't look at the fact that Moat Wisdom was ranked at 4th stage, but to have it fight a 4th stage dragon on its own, it was an absolute win or lose situation. Even when facing a rank 3 dragon, Moat wasn't sure it could defeat it.

One of the most important reasons for this was that the dragons could all fly, and all of them had extremely terrifying dragon breaths. To have a strong land-based but very high-flying dragon like Moat fight a dragon that was flying high in the sky was simply too strong.

Chasing and unable to catch up, fighting and unable to fight....

Even Moat couldn't help but shiver with excitement at the thought of the fearsome dragon.

Eating someone else's mouth and taking someone else's hand!

After a moment of Moate's mouthing, Moat finally apologetically took out a bunch of dried mushrooms that had been dried and worn together from his bosom and threw them into the pot.

"Since Your Excellency has generously entertained me with fire dragon meat, I can't be too stingy. These are some giant mushrooms that are a specialty of the Wetland Swamp, with an exceptionally rich and long-lasting aroma, perfect for use as a condiment. Moreover, this giant mushroom will also have certain benefits to one's physique if consumed for a long period of time!"

"Oh? Good for the physique?" At the news Grim couldn't help but thump his heart.

Like him, there were simply only a handful of elemental sorcerers whose physique had reached 32 points. At this level, it was extremely difficult for the physique to go any further.

Of course, if Grim used the same set of methods as the Body Refining Sorcerer to stimulate the flesh* body, the physique still had room for progress. However, many of those methods used the loss of mental energy to stimulate physique growth, and such a tactic would be more than enough for Grim!

That's why Grim couldn't help but pick up a giant shiitake mushroom that had been soaked through by the broth and put it in his mouth.

The aroma was overwhelming, tender and refreshing.

However, while Grim closed his eyes to taste it, his mental energy was placed on top of the chip's monitoring report.

"Drop, strange high energy item detected, edible... The aromatic components released within the item contain some benign stimuli that are beneficial to biological muscles... It is predicted that after the subject consumes it, there will be a slight improvement in the subject's constitution ...To achieve Subject Body +1, you need to eat 100 times...Expect to develop medicinal resistance after 210 times.... "

When Grim saw the test report provided by the chip, he instantly sucked in a breath of cold air.

Wouldn't this indicate that if he consumed this giant mushroom for a long period of time, it would be able to raise his physique by another 2 points.

The basic gain brought by these 2 points of physique placed on him, a 4th rank Fire Witch, could be even greater than the 5 or 6 point gain of those low rank witches. If these 2 points of physique could be added to those 4th rank Body Tempering Sorcerers, it would only bring them even greater gains.

And if the Crimson Family got hold of this resource and marketed it into the wizard world, it would definitely cause those 4th tier witches to go crazy.

After all, at their level, there were simply too few, too few means to raise any basic attribute by 2 points without too dire an aftereffect!

Therefore Grim, after a slight pause, couldn't help but speak, "Moat Wise One, I wonder if you would be willing to trade the seeds of this giant mushroom? I can trade knowledge or materials with you if you wish..."

"This giant mushroom is a special type of mushroom that I developed myself, so if you only want some finished products, I can give away a batch for free. But if you want giant mushroom seeds, then..."

"How about that?"

"Then you'll have to do something for me!"

Grim wasn't surprised by the Moat Wise Man's offer, but remained calm as he looked at it, "What is it?"

"Over the past few years, a number of small lakes in the Wetlands Swamp have inexplicably dried up and turned into a horrible death mud. Many fungal giants, swamp lords, and creatures living in the wet marshes have developed a terrible blighting disease. Swamp creatures that have this disease will show visible signs of wilting on their bodies, and then go mad and attack everything around them..."

Grim listened quietly to Moat's introduction, his eyebrows raised slightly in a thoughtful manner.

"So what you're saying is... you want me to go out on your behalf and investigate the cause of the blight?"

"Yes. As long as Your Excellency can find out where the source of the blight is, I will use the seeds of the giant mushroom as a reward for the quest. If Your Excellency can help us destroy that source, I have two more special mushrooms here, one that is good for mental strength and one that is good for elemental affinity..."

"Sssh..." again Grim took a breath of cold air and looked to Moat with the look of a man looking at a human treasure trove.

Even a broken ship had three pounds of nails!

Truly unexpectedly, the treasures possessed in the hands of this Moat Wise Man whose appearance was shabby and even shabby in appearance really made Grim's heart throb.

But no treasure could interfere with the main purpose of the trip!

Grim spoke after a moment of silence, "Moat Wise One, I'm not going to lie to you, our trip to the Wet Swamp is for the Water of Source Life. And until we obtain the Water of Source Life, I don't want to get too much out of the way."

"The Water of Source Life?" Moat turned his head to look at Emelia and said calmly, "It wasn't this little girl who encouraged you to come here, was it? That's right, the Wetlands Swamp does have the Water of Origin, and it's preserved in the Holy Land of the Demon Spore Clan. If you want to obtain the Water of Origin, I'm afraid you'll inevitably have to clash head-on with that Demonic Spore Clan!"

"Yes. So, before heading to the Spore Forest, I want to hear from you, Wise One!"

Moat was silent.

Only after a long time did it whisper, "You should have heard on your way here that the Wetland Swamp has changed greatly in the past few years. The ones who are driving the changes in the wetland swamps are none other than Farneson, the head of the Magic Spore Clan, the fungus giant lord Covax, and the individual swamp lords..."

"So, you take this assignment to investigate the blight! With it, you will be able to justifiably enter and leave most of the area of the Wetland Swamp without being disturbed by the local creatures. If I'm right, I'm afraid that this 'natural disaster' that happened in the Wetlands Swamp is probably related to some actions that the Demonspore clan did in private..."

After hearing Moat's story, Grim's eyes lit up slightly.

"Your Excellency means that if the blight is really related to the Moatspore Clan, your Excellency is willing to do something about it as well?"

"It's not just me..." said Moat with a hateful pause of his wooden staff, "I've also contacted the Hydra King Moltog and the leader of the Spore Flying Bats, Moxis Lightwing. If you can produce enough evidence, I'll banish these bastards from the Wet Swamp myself!"

I can see that these natural disasters that have occurred in the wet swamp have triggered Moat's out-and-out anger and made it a bit liverier, too.
