Age of Adepts

Chapter 1201 - Death Puddle

The Spirit Realm, the Wet Swamp.

Pantooth Cave.

It was a huge stretch of water located in the northwest corner of the Wetlands Swamp.

Some people called it a lake, but others could call it a sea, but from Grim's perspective, it was more accurate to define it as the inner sea.

Riding on a huge spore flying bat, Grim flew at an altitude of thirty to forty meters above the ground, following the direction of the streams and rivers meandering beneath him, all the way to the region where the mist was thickest.

"This is the Niga Waterway... where mostly small fishermen and lobstermen live... they don't get along very well, and are at war all year round... ... "This surrogate Giant Spore Flying Bat was also a Tier 2 creature, possessing no weak intelligence, and treated Grim with much more respect than its normal counterparts.

Listening to the other party's introduction, Grim curiously peered down.

Between the forest of tall mushroom trees, a huge waterway over a hundred meters wide quietly flowed beneath him.

At regular intervals, a narrow stream would lead from the waterway, creating a shallow puddle in a certain area. And the village of the little fisherman was built on the shallow puddle, all of which was a poorly crafted, simple style wooden house on the water.

When the Spore Flying Bats flew over the fisherman's village, from time to time, they could see the ugly dark green figures underneath them that were chasing after them with strange cries of 'wah-la-wah-la'.

"What kind of fishmen are they? Blackfin or inkjet fishermen?" Grim's eyes flashed blue, and quickly compared the appearance and physical characteristics of these fishermen into the database.

The feedback from the chip was: 67% probability of a Blackfin Fishman, 25% probability of an Inkjet Fishman, and 7% probability of a Summoning Tide Fishman... The rest of the fishmen were less than 1% probability and were no longer displayed.

"They're blackfin fishermen!" As the Giant Spore Flying Bat spread its wings and flew between a tall mushroom tree, it turned its head and replied, "You Sorcerers are truly all powerful and knowledgeable, you even know about such an insignificant little guy like the Blackfin Fishman."

Grim didn't pay too much attention to the giant spore flying bats' compliments, but instead gazed out over a tall figure standing on some small islands in the middle of the river.

They were simply an enlarged version of a lobster, standing upright like a man, walking on four knobby limbs stretched under a flat belly and a duck-flipper-like tail, fighting and intimidating enemies with two strong, powerful pincers.

These lobstermen were stronger and more courageous than the small fishes, and the surface of their bodies was covered with a thick layer of scales and armor, on which grew a layer of strange moss. With this kind of protection, it was difficult for the small fisherman's crude blade and spear to either hack at the scaly armor or slip on the moss, causing serious damage.

It is no wonder that the lobsters occupy the best hunting position in the center of the waterway, and drive the small fishermen to more 'remote' areas.

Their food is the many small fish in the waterways.

The small fishermen were seen to have been chasing underneath the giant spore flying bats and wowing and throwing a pitching spear into the air before dangling weakly in mid-stride, mistakenly injuring many of their own companions instead.

"They don't seem to be on good terms with you?" Grim asked.

"Many times my people get tired of eating mushrooms and come here to devour a small fisherman or two. So there's been a lot of tension between us!" The Giant Spore Flying Bat explained simply.

Seemingly remembering the taste of the little fishes' tasty flesh and blood, it couldn't help but grin stupidly.

"Do the wise men not stop this 'killing' of yourselves?"

"Killing? No, no, no...it's not killing, it's hunting. The little fishers are creatures that are so fertile that if left unrestricted, they will fill every inch of the wetland swamp with their green bodies without restraint. So, we eat the little fishies, the little fishies eat smaller aquatic creatures, and the aquatic creatures eat the sediment... This is a privilege granted to us by the laws of the seat, and it cannot be taken away from us even by the most respected Lord Wise!"

Hearing the other party's reply, Grim couldn't help but nod under his breath.

In the Sorcerer's World, even many of the 2nd rank creatures in the Black Forest were still at the stage of obscure and primitive instincts, but this ordinary 2nd rank flying bat of the Spirit Realm already had such an understanding.

This was not mere intelligence, but insight and experience that could only be gained after experiencing world events.

"Lord Sorcerer you need to sit tight, we're about to cross the Death Mire... the creatures there haven't been very friendly lately..." as the giant spore flying bat's loud voice reminded it of its The body traveled in a quick circling motion, passing through a small earth post and suddenly breaking into a strange land.

Grim, who had been sitting calmly on top of its backbone, stood upright, his sharp eyes scanning the strange land in front of him in astonishment.

Perhaps not so long ago, this place had once been a beautiful lake of vast size.

However, as the years went by, the lake water here was lost to other places for some unknown reason, and so large areas of the black, sticky lake bed marshes were exposed, turning into a death mire filled with a horrible stench.

The swamp creatures that had lost their habitat due to the change in the environment became frantic and raided some of the remaining water marshes in the low-lying areas. For the sake of this last bit of water, all the swamp creatures were caught up in the fight and struggle.

As Grim gazed far into the distance, he could see countless fragments of shells and broken limbs in the black mud at the bottom of the lake. Those who were able to survive such a brutal and bloody battle were all terrifyingly strong, especially the Swamp Giants, Fungus Giants and Hydra Monsters.

However, even as victors, they did not have enough water to nourish their bodies, so they could only drag their nearly withered bodies through the dozens of miles of death mud, stumbling around in search of the remaining water swamps.

Death Mire... this place was truly worthy of being a Death Mire!

"Just wait up here for a moment while I go get some specimens!" Grim simply greeted the Giant Spore Flying Bat and jumped into the sky.

The altitude of over forty meters was nothing to Grim, he didn't even cast a 'slow fall' on himself, he just smashed into the mud at the bottom of the lake like a plummeting fire meteor.

There was a muffled thud.

Mud pillars splattered everywhere and fire waves tumbled.

Before the ebony fetid mud that splashed in mid-air could land on the ground, it was swept away by a reddish fire romance and instantly evaporated into thin air.

Grim's body only crouched slightly, dispelling the terrifying impact of the high altitude fall.

If it were someone else, falling down so unbuffered, without powdering his body and bones, his internal organs would have to take the terrifying impact. But Grim's physique advantage of up to 32 points was fully evident at this time, and the force recoil that was enough to kill others was placed on him, but it was only a slight dullness of mind, and his entire body didn't even have any internal injuries.

He slowly erected his body and stepped out of the mud pit that had been baked into a dry and hard lump of earth.

The momentum of his strong arrival was so astonishing that it naturally attracted the attention of several tall hobbling figures in the vicinity.

Seeing his flame-filled majestic body, a nearest withered swamp giant immediately shrieked and rushed over.

A mere 2nd stage swamp giant dared to take the initiative to charge at a 4th stage sorcerer... From this near death-seeking behavior, it could be seen that the blight had not only damaged its body, but even its brain had become a little unclear.

Grim grunted as he held his staff in his left hand to support his body, his right hand forward, palm facing the enemy, and one after another, the scorching fireballs bombarded the opponent's body like a cannon in a row.

Grim was only 2 meters tall and short, while that withered swamp giant was about 7 meters. But under the terrifying flame sorcery attack, not only was the other party unable to take a step forward, but he was blasted backwards by the fireballs, and his entire body began to dry up and disintegrate.

The Swamp Giant's tall and mighty body was imbued with a long and tough life force, even if it was missing 1/3 of its body, it could still grow back with its own life force. Thanks to this tough life, they were able to survive the dry period of several years and have survived to this day.

However, no matter how long and resilient the life force was, everything became useless when it was facing a terrifying legendary fire witch!

It only took 5 flexes and 7 fireballs for Grim to blast the withered swamp giant apart, disintegrating into a blood stain all over the ground.

The shattered swamp giant's body emitted stars and fluorescence from inside, slowly blending into the overwhelming fog. But Grim furrowed his brow, reached out and gripped lightly, taking another faint cloud of black smoke from the void.

The power of Grim's flame condensed into a fireball, sealing the black smoke dead inside.

Some of the black smoke that were eager to escape Ug hit the inner wall of the fireball and were instantly incinerated to ash by the dazzling flames. The remaining black smoke seemed to have learned the hard way, and never dared to come any closer to the inner wall of the fireball, circling left and right like a group of headless flies, rushing around indiscriminately, seemingly looking for a way out.

The bit laws of the Spirit Realm were too powerful, but even the black smoke had spiritual intelligence?

Grim smiled coldly, power gathering his eyes, blue mane flashing, and quickly scanned the black smoke for details.

"Drops, foreign species of disease-causing venom found... Warning, the venom is terrifyingly contagious and lethal, capable of causing third-degree disease invasion to the subject... Suggest the subject open the flame boundary to eliminate the possibility of infection..."

As expected....

The moment he saw the black smoke, Grim's heart swelled with a feeling of utter familiarity.

As expected, the results of the chip scan also confirmed his suspicions.

The so-called blight was actually just the invasion of a special type of bacterium.

The way this fungus invaded and spread was somewhat similar to the plague poison spirit Remy's methods.
