Age of Adepts

Chapter 1266 - Each to Their Own

The Ice Bone Dragon Nax was indeed very powerful.

But its strength wasn't enough to compete with the five 4th rank strong squads that each had their own strengths.

One of the main reasons why the battle was so 'fierce' was that the strong squads each had something on their mind and had some spare strength left over, so they simply couldn't work together to do their best.

To be fair, if it was just based on their individual strengths, the Wraith Kangonas, Starling Tulas and Grim in the strong team all possessed powerful abilities that were no weaker than the Ice Bone Dragon.

However, this was just a 'fun' hunt that they ran out on. If they succeeded, they would certainly gain a lot, but if they failed, they would escape back to their lair to lick their wounds and have a chance to fight again next time. Therefore, when they encountered those opportunities that required them to pay a certain price before they could bring great harm to the old dragon, they naturally avoided them.

After all, this was just a strange team that had been put together on short notice and was being suppressed by the Ice World's consciousness. Plus, no one was willing to risk their lives to fight that old dragon, which was why the battle had dragged on so long and hard.

But the strength of the team members was there, and no matter how much the old dragon struggled and fought to the death, it was still unable to escape its fate of defeat!

However, what was most strange to Grim was that even though the battle was fierce and the situation became dire, that cold bone dragon Nax did not leave the Temple of Ice, and was always on his feet fighting the strong squad.

This made him couldn't help but start to wonder.

"Sand King, you don't need to fight. You dive to the center of this ice peak and see if there is anything odd there." As Grim jumped sharply to dodge the swift pounces and dragon tail sweeps of the Ice Bone Dragon, he shouted, "I suspect that the Box of Harsh Winter is not on the old dragon, but on..."

These words Grim didn't use the spirit secret language, but directly shouted them out loud.

Upon hearing this, not only were the members of the strong team slightly startled, even the old dragon Ug shuddered, and the soul fire in the empty eye sockets couldn't help but tremble.

There really was something wrong....

Through the old dragon's reaction, the members of the squad immediately woke up.

No wonder this Ice Temple possessed such a bizarre cold air, which originally did not come from the Ice Bone Dragon Naxx at all, but from the Box of Ancient Harsh Winter buried deep within the ice peak.

Although the Box of Ancient Winter possessed the powerful rules of ice, it also possessed the law of death that was inaccessible to ordinary people. If we look at its origin, the Casket of Ancient Harsh Winter is not suitable to be the origin holy weapon of the Ice Dragon Nax.

In order to advance to Level 5, Nax drew the rules of ice from the Casket of Ancient Severe Winter at the cost of his own body. This made the cold ice power of its original body become more and more powerful. However, the ensuing law of death also transformed its body into something neither human nor ghost, turning it into an undead bone dragon that the world loathed and spurned.

The overly intense soul reformation had certainly increased its strength, but it had also bound it firmly in place. Until it had completed its final soul transformation, it would not be able to take half a step away from the Temple of Ice, nor would it be able to fly above the blue sea and sky like an ordinary dragon.

As for why it didn't carry the Ancient Harsh Winter Casket with it? The reason is even simpler!

It simply couldn't withstand the powerful and terrifying rule power there.

Evolving from a law to a rule was not a simple matter of changing words.

Laws were the basic rules by which the planetary system operated, and were usually just a small subset of a grand rule power.

Like the fire rule, it was an extremely large and complete power system. The Fire Rule that Grim held was just a small tentacle of this huge rule power........

Only when a sufficient number of rule powers coalesced together would it be possible for Grim to peer into the mysteries of the operation of the rule system through the rule powers he possessed.

As for trying to grasp some sort of complete rule power, this... was simply not something that a lower-ranked lifeform could accept or carry!

4th stage... within the bit plane, they might be called 'gods' in general, and were also granted the name of 'demigods'. However, in essence, they were still nothing more than 'flesh and blood', from their flesh* body to their soul, almost all of them were made up of various kinds of bitter substances.

Since it was impossible to escape the constraints of the consciousness of the plane, it was naturally impossible to transcend the plane, to transcend the existence of the consciousness of the plane and substitute the rules of the plane.

All the rules and powers within the plane are controlled by the consciousness of the plane, and it will never give its authority to outsiders. Even those guys who could touch the power of the law level of the bit plane, if they weren't 'honest' enough, they would suffer the bit plane consciousness' backlash at every turn.

Therefore, an Ancient Wonder Treasure imbued with the power of the two major rules was already far more meaningful to the Ice Bone Dragon, Naxx, and the Witch Demon, Kangonas, than outsiders could imagine!

Thus, suddenly seeing that the other party had sensed the whereabouts of that Harsh Winter Casket, the Ice Bone Dragon Nax was simply terrified and furious beyond measure.

Without having to sound the trumpet for a decisive battle, with a simple word, Grim had forced that old dragon into a situation where he had to fight to the death!

And the Witch Kanganus wanted to get the Casket of Winter, but cowering wouldn't do it. Once that old dragon had pushed back a few of his companions with a do-or-die mentality, one-on-one, the Witch Kanganus would still be unable to withstand the swift attack and frightening cold of the opponent.

Thus without a word, the battle instantly became white-hot!

That old dragon no longer cared about the devastation of the harsh cold power to his body, and began to continuously draw on the terrifying rule powers inside the Box of Harsh Winter and crazily transformed them into an overwhelming blizzard that swallowed every inch of the Temple of Ice straight away.

The battle to this moment was the true beginning of the duel between the two sides!

In such a harsh and harsh environment, the strong squad could no longer gather strength and could only fight on their own, suffering and waiting for the Old Dragon's power to reverse.

Whether the old dragon would use his powerful outburst to cripple them or wipe them out, or whether they would endure until the old dragon's power was unsustainable and in turn suffer from the power of the Box of Harsh Winter, this depended on the respective background and strength of both sides.

The entire inside of the Temple of Ice could no longer see or feel!

Everyone's mental perception was suppressed to some sort of limit by this icy, harsh winter force. Even with their 4th rank perception, their mental reach could not extend beyond fifty meters of their bodies.

Such a narrow 'field of vision' clearly pushed them to the edge of a dangerous cliff, and a careless mistake could end in death of their bodies and souls.

However, even though it was dangerous, none of the squad members chose to quit the Temple of Ice. For no other reason than not wanting to lose the chance to obtain that Ancient Harsh Winter Casket!

Although that Ancient Harsh Winter Casket didn't necessarily match their soul origins, and although they had promised the Witch Demon Kangenas to assist them in acquiring that dual-attribute rule artifact... but when the opportunity was right in front of them, everyone had a not insignificant chance of going for it while a scuffle was going on.

Just ask, who would give up such a rare opportunity?

At least Grim couldn't let go!

At this point, individuals are looking out for themselves, who cares about others....

Grim held the Book of Filth and Darkness in his left hand and the Fire Coral Wand in his right, his entire body lingering in a red-hot burning field. Beneath him, the Shadow Demon also became looming, always keeping a vigilant eye on his surroundings.

Grim lamented forward without hesitation, his tight black leather jacket framing his figure with increasing grandeur. His lips were pursed, his eyes cold and stern, and the skin above his smooth forehead split open, a strange diamond-shaped crystal revealing its form.

Under the attunement of the Focus Crystal, Grim's mental energy was highly concentrated, and huge amounts of flame energy poured out from within the Fire God Pearl and the Heart of Rule, gathering around him to leap. Once the enemy's scent was sensed, Grim's stone-shattering strike could definitely leave it with a terrifying memory it would never forget!

As for whether or not it would mistakenly hurt a teammate... Oh well, at this point, I'm afraid there's no such thing as a teammate!

Any guy who wanted or dared to approach him was someone with sinister intentions, and Grim would never hesitate or be soft on that.

The violent shockwave was stirring three hundred and seventy-five meters away on the left, and from the incoming energy shockwave Grim perceived the energy scent of the old dragon and the sand king.

The dull, hoarse cry of pain from the Sand King was clearly audible in the murky, turbulent, harsh fog. And from the levels of power that had erupted from both sides, it could be deduced that the Sand King, who had already taken a lot of damage in the previous battle, might be forced by the old dragon to withdraw from this 'competition'.

As expected, amidst a heart-rending roar, the Sand King's unique breath of power raced far and wide, directly rushing out of the Temple of Ice.

The Sand King exits the stage!

As Grim searched for the tower in the mist, he secretly wondered who the old dragon would be trying to target next.

Serpent Girl, Starling or himself?

That Kangenas was able to become a world-famous fearsome witch demon, and if it only had this much power, it probably wouldn't be able to be such a name. Therefore, it must have hidden a considerable portion of its battle power.

In such a situation, if the old dragon didn't want the two strongest to fight and the other to gain, the right choice would be to expel the extra guy first.

Then in that case, I'm afraid that old dragon would not choose the weakest snake woman....

Before Grim's thoughts could finish turning, the distant mists of the Woodlands parted, and the scarred old dragon roared and came crashing down on him.

First, the cold ice exhaled its breath to open the way, and a cloud of blue, somewhat bright and dazzling dragon breath overwhelmingly surged towards Grim. The range was so large and the temperature so low that it was simply beyond what Grim could perceive.

In Grim's mind, the chip's piercing warning sounded immediately!
