Age of Adepts

Chapter 1376 - Stone Wilderness

Alois, the Stony Wilderness.

Scattered between the Finlo River and the Sydlak Mountains is an empty wilderness of about twenty square kilometers.

For some reason, there was no sea of towering pine like forests, nor was there any green grasslands or scrub forests to be seen here. Instead, there were bizarre broken rocks of different sizes and shapes everywhere.

These greenish-gray, hard-textured rock rubble covered the entire wilderness, other than that there was no other creatures and plants.

As the afternoon approached, a small caravan slowly moved along a narrow road in the middle of the wilderness. The caravan was small, with only four wagons, three of which were loaded with various food and sundries, while the remaining one belonged to the Raghu Wizard.

The caravan forded a path in the middle of the stony wilderness, and the road was a bit bumpy, with the wagon occasionally damaged from hitting debris half buried in the mud. Fortunately, the mercenaries escorting the convoy were all experts in survival in the wilderness, and it was a simple matter to repair and replace a broken wheel.

Finally, the convoy came to a halt near a rubble pile.

The mercenary leader, Jack, cautiously came to the black carriage in the center of the convoy, tapped the carriage a few times, and whispered, "Lord Raghu, the Stone Wilderness has arrived!"

Then a low, hoarse male voice came from the car.

"Got it, wait..."

Jack immediately retired respectfully to one side and waited in silence.

Only after half a quarter of an hour had passed, did the Lagu wizard, who had finished his regular meditation, pick the curtain and get out of the carriage, standing on the shaft of the carriage and sweeping his eyes around the strange stone wilderness in front of him.

After quietly sensing the concentration of magic here, he drew a strange sorcery rune with one hand, and then let it slowly dissipate into the air.

In the blink of an eye, a hazy multicolored halo of light appeared in front of the Lagu Witch. The halo was the size of a human head, and there floated within it a variety of ever-changing magical fluorescence such as yellow, green, green, red, and gold.

Even without elemental vision, one could clearly see that yellow occupied most of the area inside the halo, crowding out the rest of the colors to the fringe areas.

"There really is some elemental imbalance... to be able to allow the earth element to suppress other elemental particles to this extent, it seems that the family's speculation is correct, there are indeed some tiny spatial cracks here. The earth element is so active, could it be that this spatial rift leads straight to the earth elemental realm?" As he reviewed the results of the sorcery tests, the Raghu wizard muttered to himself.

The caravan was all mortals except for him, a sorcerer, who was hired to take care of his life.

It couldn't be helped that, having been accustomed to an honorable life inside the Witch Tower, once he left the Witch Tower and traveled outside, he would always have a hundred discomforts and worries. In the past, if Lagoo Shaman had chosen to travel, he would have had two or three apprentice students with him, who would have been able to take better care of him.

But now the family was strapped for manpower, and all the sorcerers and apprentices were assigned a large number of tasks, traveling through the middle of the continent. Thus, he could only hire mortal mercenaries to take care of some of the travel troubles for himself.

Hiding at a distance, all the mortal mercenaries had a look of envy and awe in their eyes as they watched the lean, tall, and beautifully dressed Sorcerer Lord silently casting spells.

In the world they existed in, the sorcerer was the true master of the world. They, on the other hand, were just a bunch of pitiful insects who were crawling before the sorcerer and struggling to survive.

It was because they were clear about their identity and status that these human mercenaries behaved respectfully in front of the Lagu Shaman. They didn't even dare to breathe a word if they got a little closer, fearing that their crudeness and lowliness would disturb the sorcerer's spell casting.

Having determined the purpose of his visit, the Lagu Wizard turned to Jack, who was waiting not far away, and said in a deep voice, "Set up a small camp here! We may need to stay here for two days." After saying this, Raghu looked up at the sky and continued, "It's still early, so you keep the others busy here, and you take a few people with you and me to see what's going on here..."

With that said, he no longer paid any attention to the compliant mercenary leader, turned around and activated the flying technique on his belt, his entire body slowly floating under the breeze's support, and flew quickly towards somewhere in the distance.

"Quick, quick, quick... all of you lazy bastards, did you hear the Wizard Lord's orders, get off the carriage and clean up this place. When I return, if you haven't set up camp by the time I get back, you won't be eating tonight..." shouted Jack, who was huge and had a face full of scars and cross-stranded flesh, turning around and naming a few more mercenaries: "Tor, Ironhead, One-Eye ...You three come with me and remember to bring your tools! Go..."

The four of them flew onto their horses like chickens and dogs with all their tools and whips and galloped towards the small black dot in the distant sky.

The Lagoo Wizard floated in the air at a height of ten meters above the ground, holding a translucent black crystal ball in his hand. Every time he flew a distance away, he would cast a spell to verify the concentration of free magical energy in space, and use it to determine the exact location of the weak point in space.

After changing direction four or five times in succession, the Lagu Wizard finally lowered himself down beside a pile of rocks. When the black crystal ball in his hand pointed at this pile of random rocks, an earthy yellow strange light point suddenly lit up in the center of the sphere.

"This should be the place!"

The Raghu wizard circled around the pile of rocks to make sure there was no deviation and did nothing else. After waiting only a little while, Jack arrived in a hurry with three other mercenaries on horses that were armed with tools like shovels and crowbars and axe chisels.

"Dig...dig up this mess of rocks!"

Without saying a word, they immediately did it.

In just fifteen minutes, the pile of random rocks, which was about thirty meters in radius, was dug into a large hole, revealing a strange point of light the size of a soybean inside.

The point of light slowly cruised and floated in the narrow hole, and from within it, strands of earthy-yellow smoke oozed out from time to time. This smoke was quickly absorbed by the surrounding crushed rocks and random rocks, and it could be seen that the rock masses around the point of light were even deeper and more crystalline in color, with a sense of fullness of energy.

"It really is an ultra-small spatial singularity..." seeing this, the Raghu Wizard rushed away from the mercenary, leaned forward to examine it carefully for a moment, and then pulled out a piece of parchment and began to brush the point to write a record.

However, while he was quietly busy, the pile of random rocks that had excavated a large hole suddenly shook violently, and even the earth began to tremble.

"Hey, why are there still earth elemental creatures here..." the Lagu Shaman retreated a few steps, looking dumbly at a medium-sized earth elemental that had risen up from the ground in front of him.

It was a bizarre humanoid earth elemental that reached 3 meters in size, and its body was made of a patchwork of oddly shaped broken rocks of various sizes, and earthy sandy particles could be faintly seen flowing and passing slowly between the rock blocks.

"Who disturbed my sleep...I detected the scent of a wizard. Why, human sorcerer, have you trespassed on Bacala's home?" The tall earth elemental head was a piece of broken rock with a corner missing, and the two yellow halos of light were its eyes. Although it didn't have a mouth, it was able to silently communicate with Raghu by virtue of its strange spirit language.

The scene that suddenly happened in front of them undoubtedly scared the four human mercenaries half to death as well. They hurriedly threw down their tools and drew out their swords and axes, shielding the Raghu Wizard behind them and distantly confronting the strangely shaped half-stone, half-earth hunk.

"Bacala? Your name is Bacala? Oh, I really can't imagine that such a remote and desolate place would have an earth elemental with a munchkin's spiritual intelligence... It seems like there's some research value here!" Compared to the trepidation of the human mercenaries, the Lagoo Shaman looked calm and relaxed.

After all, the Earth Elemental in front of him was only a Stage 1 Primary Earth Elemental in terms of energy levels, and it was not yet a real threat to him!

"Bacala, I hereby declare to you that the land in which you reside belongs to the Crimson Family. And I, as the Crimson Sorcerer, have the power to banish you back to the elemental realm. Speak, are you self-sacrificing or are you willing to surrender the Seal of Life to become my servant?"

"No... we Earth Elementals are free and will never accept bondage! Fight, Bacala will shoot you all to death..."

The Raghu Wizard's ultimatum apparently angered the earth elemental, and it roared as it rolled up a thick wave of earth and rushed at several people.

Jack and the others could only scalp it, holding their swords and rushing up with their small wooden shields.

The two sides were not at all above a power level, the earth elemental perimeter did not have any weaknesses or defects such as flesh and blood pain, but also infinite strength. With just a glance, the small round shields in the mercenaries' hands were shattered by the stone fists. But they could only dodge the stone's sweeping attack while shouting and circling around the earth elemental, but they didn't dare to come any closer to each other.

Knowing that these mercenaries couldn't deal with the earth elemental, the Lagu Shaman took out a silver badge from his bosom and waved it lightly, and a metal demon weapon with the same 3-meter size appeared in front of him.

The squeaking metal clanking sound, the metal weapon arms raised, from the black hole cannon mouth inside the rapid as a meteor-like energy fireball.

Rubble flew and earth crumbled.

The formerly dazzling earth elemental was instantly smashed to pieces by the metal weapon, turning into a pile of random rocks pouring down and scattering all over the ground.

The skinny looking Lagu Shaman skewed through the pile of rocks, picking through the many pieces of rock and rubble for half a day, finally found a fist-sized stone that was faintly glowing with an earthy yellow light, and simply sealed it up and put it into his arms.

It seems that the spatial singularity here has existed for a long time, and it has actually spawned an earth elemental of 1st stage strength over time. Now with this piece of earth elemental heart core, it's quite good to take it back and simply process it to make a rock seal, summoning an earth elemental as a servant on a regular basis.

You know, if this kind of 1st stage strength rock mark is sold, it would cost 80 magic crystals. Although it's not much, but a mosquito leg is meat!

I never thought that a random family mission could have such an unexpected harvest, and a satisfied smile overflowed on the Lago Wizard's face.
