Age of Adepts

Chapter 1381 - Flock of Fire Crows and the Iron Stone Wilderness

The arrival of the Magic Tide was a daunting test for all the bits!

Of course, with such a huge size and powerful group of witches in the wizarding world, no foreign clan or monster would be able to shake this huge civilization.

However, just because the entire wizard civilization was safe and sound didn't mean that all the families or powers would be unscathed. On the contrary, during the period when the rules of bitonal chaos were in turmoil, any Sorcerer family or power could suffer huge losses if they were not careful, thus losing their past dominant position.

This... was the most fundamental reason why so many witches were carefully on guard against the magical tides!

Even the Sorcerer's World is so powerful that it has to be on guard in the face of the magical tides, and the medium and small bits that are not as strong as the Sorcerer's World as a whole are even worse.

When the magical tides came, when the bitboard barriers were unable to protect the inner space as usual, it was impossible for the natives or aborigines in them to have any other way out but to die in anguish in the face of the raging Void Hurricane and the vicious star beasts and monsters.

After all, in the confrontation of the bit world, weakness was an original sin!

....................

The Goblin Plane, the Iron Stone Wasteland.

It was a desolate and lonely red land.

The soil contained too much iron and aluminum and other minerals, with little organic matter and high acidity, making it impossible to grow any green plants at all. The land stretched for nearly a hundred miles and was bare, with the exception of the lone, towering red peaks and stone pillars riddled with holes eroded by acid rain, almost no living things could be seen here.

Due to the acidic and dark red color of the soil, under the sunlight, it looked as if it had been soaked in blood and rendered, so this place was also named the 'Devil's Land'.

Since it was impossible to grow crops, it was naturally impossible to feed the population. Therefore, there were no goblin towns in the area covered by the Iron Stone Wilderness, nor could there be any large-scale intelligent creature activity.

However, in the midst of this dead silence, a huge roar suddenly came from the distance.

Then, a heavily armed goblin convoy appeared in sight. The heavy steel tracks of the goblin chariots crushed the crusty red roadbed, spinning the golden magic cannons on top of the vehicles, pointing their muzzles at some dark and gloomy corner.

On top of the first chariot, a goblin with a leather hood and tactical goggles peered halfway out, holding his binoculars up to scan the tops of the surrounding mountains and the stone pillar hills visible everywhere.

The terrain here was particularly vicious, and the environment was an even worse mess, clearly not suitable for any intelligent life to survive. However, when the demonic tide came, the goblin caravan still did not dare to relax and slack off, meticulously patrolling this weak area of space.

Yes, one of the main reasons why the Iron Stone Wilderness was so desolate was that it was a weak point in space. The chaotic magical energies that had penetrated from outside had altered the environment of this place, and also caused the elements here to be out of balance, thus creating the strange red land.

The goblin fleet was made up of eleven goblin chariots, commonly equipped with magic cannons, goblin missiles, and combat magic weapons. And their mission was to regularly inspect this Iron Stone Wilderness to make sure that no otherworldly creatures had slipped into the Goblin Plane by taking advantage of the outbreak of the magic tide.

Of course, in order to better complete the inspection work, each goblin fleet was also equipped with a goblin helicopter.

Therefore, while the goblin fleet was rumbling through the red earth, a goblin helicopter with the number of Flying Fish passed over their heads at an ultra-low altitude, and then made a graceful arc, flying towards a red peak on the right.

Goblin Commander Pike's green fur, exposed on the outside of his leather cap, danced wildly in the gale force winds as he lowered his body, pressed the communication crystal in his ear, and growled loudly.

"Morris, you bastard...don't fly so close to the convoy. Damn it, my eardrums are breaking from your horrible noise... Remember, fly higher and check out Sector 27. The instruments show that the seal witchery there has been touched, and there's a good chance that something bad will slip in, so be careful..."

"Flying Fish copy, Pilot Morris salutes you. I'm on my way to Sector 27 to scout..."

The goblin commander, Pike, slapped his hand against the compartment and pointed in the direction the goblin helicopter was flying, before raising his binoculars again and keeping track of the others.

The entire goblin convoy veered sharply, heading towards a huge wind encroaching rocky forest.

However, before the convoy could get close to the three miles of stone forest, the goblin helicopter that was skimming low over the stone forest was attacked by a flock of flying birds. The helicopter was attacked by a group of birds, but the pilot of the Flying Fish, Morris, was able to dodge the birds and turn back towards the convoy.

The always worried commander Pike was delighted with the situation, and hurriedly commanded the convoy to quickly put up a defensive formation. In a creaking metallic roar, the magic cannon quickly adjusted its muzzle, and the metal pile feet on both sides of the body to assist support were nailed into the ground, a layer of faint blue light shield united to close the entire convoy into it.

The goblin helicopter flew straight at the convoy, and when it was about to reach the range of the convoy's artillery, the helicopter suddenly rolled to the side and flipped out in a strange arc, revealing the strange flying birds that came after it.

It was a group of strange birds that had never been seen before!

They are somewhat resembling large ducks in appearance, but have no hair on their long necks, only a strange red sac on each side of the bird's head. They were not large in size, their feathers were dark red, and their flight speed would be more average.

If it wasn't for the fear of losing them halfway, the speed of the goblin helicopter would have lost them without a trace.

The current Goblin Plane was no longer the Goblin Plane of the past!

After the immersion and invasion of the wizard civilization, the goblins who had traditionally been magical insulators also had the same broad insight and rich bit of experience. Thus the goblin commander Pike identified the group of 'monsters' with only two flexes of his fingers.

Fire Crows!

It's a flock of fire crows with the power to spit fire!

The strange red sacs on either side of their parotid glands are where they store their strange saliva, and when they spit this saliva out, it rapidly expands into a strange fireball the size of a man's head when it meets the air. The attack is half as weak as the fireballs cast by human shamans, but the fire that explodes is terribly sticky and can cling to enemies and continue to burn.

This was one of the toughest parts of the Fire Crows!

A single Fire Crow is not difficult to deal with, but the difficulty is that Fire Crows are a grouping of demons. They usually live in groups, ranging from small groups of two to three hundred to large groups of thousands or tens of thousands. The size of a colony depends on the availability of local food, not on anything else.

As far as Pike knew, there were no Fire Crows near this Iron Stone Wasteland, and there weren't many of them in the entire Goblin Plane. Therefore, it was safe to assume that this group of Fire Crows, numbering in the thousands, was an 'outsider' group that had secretly migrated in through a rift in the plane.

When they got to know the surrounding environment and terrain, they would definitely migrate to a nearby place where 'food' was more plentiful. And their hunting recipes would definitely include goblins as well.

For the safety of the goblin bits, they obviously couldn't be left to come and go as they pleased.

Therefore, as soon as the flock of Fire Crows couldn't brake their momentum to fly into attack range, the magic energy cannons of the goblin fleet instantly gathered fire.

Knock knock knock....

A series of energy fireballs flew up into the sky, crashed into the flock of Fire Crows and quickly exploded into a sea of fire.

Although the Fire Crows were able to spew flames, that was only the work of the special bodily fluids in their bodies, it didn't mean that they were a flame creature. Thus, the fire cannon bombardment from the goblin caravan had inflicted terrifying damage on them.

The battlefield was immediately filled with the angry hoarse cries of the fire crows and the loud bursts of energy fireballs. A large number of Fire Crows were blown apart, and many more were charred black by the flames, with broken bird carcasses scattered across the sky like raindrops.

Those Fire Crows that managed to get through the flames 'gaa' swooped down with strange cries, bombarding the light blue energy mask with a strange fireball the size of a human head.

Unfortunately, their individual strengths were still too weak, apparently unable to shake this energy shield that was jointly supported by eleven goblin chariots.

The top of the mask trembled and shook violently, and the exploding fireballs did not scatter and break apart, but instead turned into a stream of crimson liquid that slowly flowed and spread on it. When the red liquid met the air, it immediately ignited into a sky-high fire, which was also rapidly corroding the layer of energy protection.

The number of goblin chariots was still small after all, and the first attack had halved the number of fire crows. The first attack had halved the flock of Fire Crows, but the follow-up attack was like an anti-aircraft gun hitting a mosquito in the face of the fire crows that had broken up the formation and were flying around in the sky, and their lethality had slid straight down.

Usually more than a dozen cannons were used, and the number of crows killed was only a single digit.

However, this amount of crows was nothing compared to the flocks of crows flying around in the sky, which numbered close to 500.

The Fire Crows were flying up and down unceasingly, and were trying to spew slime onto the energy shield.

From the looks of it, they seemed to be planning to burn through the shield and charge in for a battle with the goblin chariot.

Since it was difficult for the magical energy cannons to set fire to them again, Pike immediately gave the order to fight, and the battle demons halfway up the tail of each chariot jumped down with their bodies in motion, then gathered into rows and attacked the approaching fire crows with intense energy rays.

At this time, the energy rays that excited fast and had almost no flight time were instead more efficient than the energy fireballs. Although it was less powerful, it was able to make up for some of the lack of power by virtue of the densely packed muzzle on the body of the Combat Demon Armament.

Ccccccccccccccccc....

The dense, rain-like energy rays rushed into the sky, no longer pursuing precision, but instead focusing on ranged covering kills. This change in fighting style immediately caused the number of Fire Crow casualties to climb rapidly once again.
