Age of Adepts

Chapter 1383 - Central Disturbance

The outbreak of the magic tide was like opening a Pandora's Box, causing huge trouble for all the material planes.

How exactly the other three major organizations were arranged and set up, Grim knew nothing.

He only knew that the middle of the continent was in real trouble!

Ever since the front end of the Demon Tide arrived in the Wizard World, the middle of the continent has been reporting over a hundred invasions from otherworldly realms every day. As for those who sneaked in through covert means, there were countless more.

The arrival of these invaders had also brought unimaginable turmoil to the central part of the continent.

Most of them had been randomly transported to the Sorcerer's World because they had mistakenly entered the Space-Time Vortex, while others had crossed the endless void ten million miles away, taking advantage of the opening of the Sorcerer's World's portal to break into it and prepare to plunder and kill....

The former, though numerous in number, had varying strengths, so most of them lurked within the Wizard World as stowaways, ready to flee to other planes. Most of these guys are of average strength and do not have much of an organizational background, so they are not difficult to deal with, and are basically dead on sight.

The latter was a lot harder to deal with!

After all, they came prepared, either more familiar with the environment of the Wizard World, or backed by a strong power. Either way, it wasn't good for the Wizards, the rulers of this plane.

There were as many as seven mass deaths currently on the Grim's table, spread out among the six regions. Behind each event meant the fall and annihilation of a human settlement.

"The Mysterious Deaths in Molten Fire City:"

"A mass mortal death occurred today in the region of Scytis, in the eastern part of the region, just 300 miles from the city of Molten Fire. In a place called the town of Mars, 416 mortals up and down the line died overnight..."

"According to the preliminary investigation, the bodies of the deceased are all there, with all their clothes, finances and other belongings. All the deceased were scattered all over the town and seem to have died directly at the same time, at the same instant, for some unknown reason ...".

"All of the deceased were smiling, with rigid muscles, and no traces of supernatural power were found on the bodies after the initial autopsy..."

"The time of death is the third day after the outbreak of the magic tide..."

"The death is currently being investigated and handled by the 2nd ranked witch of Molten Fire City, Fraina..."

........

........

"The Mysterious Disappearance of the Well of Clark's Treasure:"

"The Clark Alchemy Academy located in the Ankara region has suddenly undergone an unusual change, and the Treasure Well, which is the main trial location of the academy, has been enveloped by a mysterious white mist..."

"Currently, the eleven alchemist apprentices who are trying out in that treasure well have lost contact. Even one of the official sorcerers of that academy has gone to investigate and is nowhere to be found..."

"This incident occurred roughly on the 3rd day of the magic tide outbreak, and is being investigated by the 2nd rank wizard Mushu of the Entom Family..."

........

........

"Plague Incident in the City of Entonas:"

"On the 7th day after the outbreak of the magic tide, a mysterious plague suddenly erupted in the city of Entonas in the Eracia region. The first outbreak of this plague infected nearly 1/3 of the city's population, with an estimated 21,000 people infected..."

"The plague began to spread to the surrounding area at an extremely fast rate right after the outbreak, and has already infected three surrounding villages and towns, and the scale of the epidemic continues to expand..."

"This area is under the co-management of three local organizations, Quirin Lodge, Deathstroke Academy, and Morin Stone Tower, and they have all sent witches to form a joint investigation team to investigate and take control of this plague..."

"From the information that has been obtained, it is clear that traces of forbidden sorcery have been found in the plague germs. The investigation team is urgently hunting for the offending witch, and there is no sign of involvement of the otherworldly invaders..."

........

........

In the meantime, Grim was flipping through the briefings on the case table one by one, and his brows were always tightly knit.

In the past, he only needed to control one aspect of the Crimson Family's affairs, plus there was the dedicated Meryl and Emelia to assist him, so he didn't find the family affairs so complicated and difficult.

But now, as the middle of the continent gradually fell into his grasp, 31 regions of varying sizes, 37.51 million square kilometers of land, thousands of wizard families.......these became areas that he had to understand and control, and the mountains and seas of complicated affairs also flooded his desk like an avalanche.

You know, most of the less urgent matters, Meryl and Emelia had filtered down for him. The ones that could be presented to his desk either involved a 4th rank wizard or 4th rank power, or had a hidden agenda that required him, the head of the house, to make up his mind....

Either way, it's enough to give him a headache for three days!

These days, ordinary family affairs were all blocked out, and the fact that these seven influential events could be sent to him fully indicated that they were all inextricably linked to the current Demon Tide that had erupted.

Behind many seemingly insignificant trivial matters, it most likely indicated that some powerful and cunning off-dimensional creature had infiltrated into the middle of the continent and was making waves there, performing some kind of terrible ritual or crazy killing.

Grim wasn't really too worried about those guys who broke in and went on a killing rampage.

Such guys just wanted to gorge themselves for a while, so they would naturally leave once they were full. For them, Grim's attitude was to banish them.

After all, there were simply too many off-world demons to kill.

Find them, expel them again, and then seal the rift they had infiltrated. That was the best outcome Grim could envision!

And it's often the other kind of cunning guys that really give Grim a headache.

They don't just kill for a quick thrill, thus attracting the intervention of the witches. Like chameleons, they sneak into the wizarding world, then use some method to hide their traces, then disguise themselves and blend in with the local human nobles.

They would often remain hidden for decades for some hidden agenda, using their own special methods to invade and hollow out the local human society little by little.

When their deeds were revealed, they would often cause the mass extermination of hundreds of thousands or even millions of people!

The spore man invasion, snake skin man invasion, undead invasion recorded in the sorcerer's journal... Behind the horrific events that were untold in history, there were traces of the interference of some large extra-domain powers.

After all, the Sorcerer's World was a well-known large bit, and the quality of human souls here was far higher than those of the small and medium sized bits. Therefore, many otherworldly demons and monsters would make it their holy and noble cause to abduct the souls of creatures from several large major planes.

By abducting the souls of the creatures of the main planes to their origin planes, they would undoubtedly grow the strength of the origin planes, thus gaining more feedback from the planes. It was also a means and a way for the bitworld to grow itself!

If the middle of the continent that had passed didn't belong to Grim, Grim wouldn't have bothered to worry about it anymore. But now, he had just nominally ruled the entire central part of the continent, and it would definitely be a self-defeating thing to let the otherworldly demons raid souls in his 'territory'.

Therefore, Grim had Meryl and the others report the mysterious events that had been aggregated from all over the world since the outbreak of the demon tide, and then enter them into the chip database one by one, allowing it to compare them with the various aspects of intelligence to find the most suspicious events.

Once they had a target, Grim would personally assign people to urge the localities to uncover the culprits behind the mysterious events as soon as possible, and dig out these hidden worms from their lairs one by one.

But to be able to quietly sneak into the Wizard World and then stay hidden without moving, such a guy definitely had the strength of a 3rd stage or higher. So, when it comes to the final showdown, I'm afraid that none of these old guys in the middle will be able to spare any time, and they will have to contribute a portion of their own strength.

The thing that worried Grim the most at the moment was the great spatial rift located in the Alden family territory. Since the outbreak of the demonic tide, nearly a hundred demons or monsters or demons of rank 2 or above had escaped from that great spatial rift, and there were as many as 3 rank 4 monsters alone.

Of course, without exception, they were all killed on the spot by the dense Witch Tower Gauntlet and War Witch Tower. However, from the images coming from the scene, the number and quality of these demons pouring inside the bit were on the rise.

Once a high level calamity creature or powerful star beast ran in, even if a top level witch like Mary or Monash was in charge, it was unavoidable that a fish would slip through the net.

If they escaped inside the surface by getting past the first level, it would become a thousand times harder to fight them off again!

After all, without the support of the Wizard Tower and the power of sorcery, a human wizard who wants to fight against the thick-skinned, long-blooded and incredibly resilient demons of the otherworld is simply being sent to a tiger's mouth. The danger of this is so great that even a super sorcerer like Grim would have a headache thinking about it.

The outbreak of the demonic tide was also a side test of the strength of the major wizard families!

In the case of the Eloise and Hayworth regions controlled by the Crimson Family, for example, so far there has not been a single incident of an exotic demon mutilating local creatures.

In the past ten years, the Crimson Family had sent countless sorcerers and apprentices to almost every corner of the two regions, sealing all spatial weak points and setting up corresponding vigilance witch formations.

Although the demonic tide erupted and all the spatial gaps automatically opened, breaking through most of the spatial seals, the overall situation was still under the Crimson Family's control.

As soon as there was a situation with the alert formation, the nearest floating giant ship would arrive without delay. The Fate Witches accompanying the ship were in charge of finding traces of the enemy, the family's battle witches and magic armor warriors were in charge of clearing out the invaders, and the academy witches were in charge of resealing the spatial rift....

With the close cooperation of the various power systems, no invaders were able to escape the Crimson Family's pursuit and flee to human society. As a result, the human kingdoms in these two regions remained stable and peaceful, becoming the safest, most prosperous and busiest places in the middle of the entire continent.

It couldn't be helped that other regions and other kingdoms couldn't do that.

Those human nobles did not have any loyalty to speak of, in order to continue their families, in order to preserve their bloodline and heritage, even in the farthest regions in the central part of the country, the local powerhouses would spend a lot of money to send their direct descendants to the Horton Witchcraft Academy in Crimson for further training.

This would improve their strength and allow them to avoid the risks of the unknown.

Thus it had become a risk-avoidance method that everyone scrambled to emulate!
