Age of Adepts

Chapter 1395 - Battle in the North

Compared to the wealthy and generous Silver Alliance, the witches of the North are relying on their individual bravery to resist the demonic tide.

It was unexpected that in the entire Wizard Continent, the group with the most direct fighting style, the most tough fighting style and the most fierce fighting was a group of witches. In the face of this overwhelming disaster, the witches of the North have shown more courage and daring than their male counterparts.

They did not sit in their family's territory, but went out of the witch tower, rallied the mortal army within their territory, and poured into the several strongholds adjacent to the Black Forest.

At the motion of the Witch Council, many of the witch clans that were not threatened by the tide of beasts also sent a large number of witch and witch beast troops to the border region to support them. They cooperated and united as one, creating a thick and dense defensive net at the edge of the Black Forest.

In this struggle between witches, humans and beasts, the witches of each faction put aside their past differences and gave full play to their distinctive fighting styles.

Naturally, the main force of the war was the undead army sent out by the Witch of Death.

Although this legion of spirits is not as numerous and varied as the army of spirits under the Witch, it is not to be underestimated in terms of its elite. The main core of the group is the Corpse Python, Sand Evil Spirit, Bone Claw and Floating Spirit, all of whom are good at group and mixed battles.

Together with their unique spirit of necrotic poison, they were more than capable of dealing with flesh and blood jungle beasts and fierce demons. And with their sacrifices, the impact of the beast tide would not be so fierce.

This way, even the mortal armies and witch beast troops would be able to hold their battle lines and not be overwhelmed by the swarming beasts.

The Winter Witches also took the opportunity to create a massive blizzard over the beast tide, and although the direct kills of the beast demons weren't too great, they created countless problems and pain for the beast swarms to attack.

The Dark Witches, on the other hand, brought their Shadow Legion with them.

They might not be conspicuous during the daytime, but at night, the entire battlefield would become the domain of the Shadow Legion. Hordes of terrifying shadow creatures were active in every inch of the battlefield, using all sorts of strange and sinister methods to kill groups of beasts and birds that lacked the protection of supernatural strength.

The Pain Witch, on the other hand, erected an altar of curses and turned the active demonic leaders into soft-footed crabs with a powerful and bizarre curse. And every now and then, it was the time for the Pale Witch to send powerful companion spirits to raid the demon lords along with the Dark Witch.

As for the Fraud and False Witch, she was responsible for misleading and luring the beast tide, ushering in their overall rout in the midst of various illusions.

During this entire war against the beast tide, the Fate Witches didn't even need to set foot on the battlefield. Their greatest existence was to divine where the next wave of beast tide might appear, as well as the target and possible size of the attack.

The border between the entire Northland Witch Territory and the Black Forest bordering it was long and rugged. Without the Fate Witch's proper guidance, it would be impossible for even the Northland Witches to guard the line to the letter.

And once any of the borders were breached, what awaited the people of the Northlands next was a super cruel massacre!

Once the tide of beasts rushed into the human settlements, the horrific consequences would send shivers down anyone's spine.

The Crimson Family still has an enclave in the White Tower region of the North, which nominally belongs to the Witches of Destiny, but the actual control is in the hands of the Crimson giants led by Meryl.

In order to guard this enclave, Crimson had stationed two floating giant ships here, more than seven hundred magic weapon battle groups, and a Green Dragon squad led by Emerald Beauty Dragon Aretina.

In all seriousness, such a strong and elite combat team defending a territory that was no more than 3,000 square kilometers in size was simply too big for its size.

Thus, as soon as the herd showed signs of gathering and hugging in the Black Forest deep in the eastern White Tower, they were directly dispersed by the Crimson Giant Ship that had arrived on the news.

Since then, the high-ranking Demon Lords in the surrounding Black Forest had been purposefully and systematically cleared out one by one by Meryl and the others. With less of them to thread the needle and induce, the subsequent tide of beasts could no longer coalesce due to the lack of a necessary core.

As for the fierce beast raptors and demons that had sporadically rushed out of the Black Forest, they had become the targets of trials for the low-ranked witches and apprentices.

Compared to the tension and austerity of the entire Northlands, the area around the White Tower fell into a rare pure land!

Seemingly sensing the pivotal role of floating giant ships in large-scale wars, the witch executives led by Death Witch Leader Krsuna and Dark Witch Leader Cersi took the initiative to contact Meryl in the White Tower.

After some bargaining, the Crimson Family sent two floating giant ships and a four-hundred-strong magic weapon warband in the name of 'conscription'. They were mainly responsible for transporting the Northern Witches' witch beast troops and various supplies, materials, and resources, and did not actually participate in the battles in the North.

However, even so, the addition of such two aerial behemoths made the entire Northland battlefield change drastically, from being strictly defended to now being proactive.

A demonic tide gathering point was directly defeated by the Northland witches with a fierce attack, a demon lord was assassinated within his lair, and a stretch of territory was restored to tranquility due to the arrival of the floating giant ships....

It had to be said that this floating giant ship built by the Crimson Family was like a heavy war fortress that could float and shift at will. Aside from being a little less defensive than a real Sorcerer's Tower, the floating giant ship was close to perfection in other aspects.

Thus, after fighting with the floating giant ship several times, all of the Northland Witches were heavily interested in this silver fortress that could fly in the high vault of the sky.

The Northern Witches weren't all a bunch of barbarian women, their attainments in sorcery and advanced knowledge had also reached an extreme level. Naturally, they were also curious about the magic energy system of this floating giant ship.

With the knowledge, abilities, and resource reserves of the Northern Territory witches, building such an all-metal giant ship would not be difficult at all. However, the difficulty lay in the fact that the amount of magical energy consumed in order to power up such a huge object was astonishing.

If the floating giant ship didn't have any external energy and relied solely on burning magic crystals to drive it, I'm afraid that one month would be enough to burn down an entire mountain of magic crystals.

Therefore, the insightful Northern Witches paid special attention to the power core of this floating giant ship.

Finally, they had discovered the existence of the Magical Melting Furnace through various witchcraft methods!

This magical magical furnace was able to directly penetrate the bit surface barrier and draw in violent and ferocious chaotic energy from the endless void, then tame it with special means and methods and transform it into corresponding magical energy....

Such technology and knowledge was clearly more profound and esoteric than the elemental altars of the Sorcerer's Gauntlet.

It could be rudely said that this ability and means of creating a magical melting pot could be far more valuable than these floating giant ships!

At this point, those who had been somewhat contemptuous of the so-called Legendary Fire Sorcerer in the past had finally set their attitudes straight and realized that Grim was indeed an extremely terrifying yet talented genius male sorcerer.

Not to mention, just this technique of creating a magical melting pot alone could catapult him to become one of the most valuable and convincing genius sorcerers in the wizard world!

Unfortunately, this kind of magical furnace was also undoubtedly one of the most core secrets of the Crimson Family. Therefore, the many Northland witches had no other way to pocket it other than drooling with gluttony.

Krsuna had also thought of bargaining with Grim through Alice to see if she could obtain this magic furnace technology by trading resources. But Grim's feedback back to the information immediately blocked this road.

The deal that Grimm proposed was very simple: the Crimson Family could sell a number of finished products to the Witch of the North, but the Witch Council had to approve Alice's public marriage to him.

To be honest, upon hearing this condition, Krsuna almost instantly decided to give up!

After all, the Witches of the North are still a relatively closed and territorial witch organization, and for a long time they have been carefully balancing the witch factions in an effort to maintain the witch traditions of the past.

And by having Alice, the leader of the Fate Witches, openly marry Grim, they were undoubtedly challenging the dominance of the Northland witches.

This was something they would never agree to no matter what!

However, if they could, in turn, allow that legendary fire witch Grim to join the Tower of Fate and become a vassal of the Witches of the North, they would welcome it with both hands and feet up.

Unfortunately, with Grim's current status, such an idea was simply not feasible.

The Northland was dominated by witches, while the middle of the continent was dominated by the strong.

Once a super-strong person like Grim trailed off and became a vassal of the Northland, his power to unify the entire central part of the country would be gone. Grim's hard-earned popularity would vanish in an instant, and the Crimson Family would become the object of suspicion and boycott by the central sorcerers.

Things were often so ridiculous!

Something that obviously sounds very ridiculous and absurd, but it's going to be extra serious and extra nitpicky when placed on a particular character or person.

They can't even accommodate the slightest flaw or imperfection!

Therefore, Grim and Alice's union, not to mention the Northern Witch's side, even in the middle of the continent, even within the Crimson Family, there was no small amount of resistance and opposition.

A love union that straddled the two powers would even affect the wizarding continent's power waning, and such a big event would not be prudent for the two, as well as the powers behind both sides!

The Northlands was, after all, a totalitarian witch organization built around the King of Witches, and any attempt to challenge the dominance of witches would be met with unanimous opposition from all witches.

Therefore, no one cared or paid attention to how ambiguous or intimate Grim and Alice were in private. But once they wanted to go public and gain the blessing of the people, the resulting power upheaval was no longer under their control....
