Age of Adepts

Chapter 1463 Camp Obligations

To Grim's surprise, it was three days after the gates had opened!

Three days later....

The tightly closed door opened upright, and the great wizard in a black robe with a gloomy face Onec hurriedly stepped out from inside and looked up to see Grim standing respectfully outside the door.

"Who are you? Why here? Comps, you're getting backwards in your vigilantism!" Seeming to have forgotten about Grim's existence, the moody Onyek muttered angrily.

"Honorable Lord Onek, please watch your language! There was a visit from the Grim Wizard, and I had passed on the information to you three days ago. It was you who indulged in Experiment 9 and chose to ignore it..." the space suddenly rang with a sharp retort from that Tarling Comps.

Hearing Comps' 'explanation', Onec scratched his head and could only continue to mutter that he knew.

"You are... Grim?" Onek tilted his face high as if he was recalling something, "Right, you're the new rank 5 there on the main plane not long ago... hmm, come to think of it..."

Grim stood quietly and respectfully, trying to gather his mental energy.

In his keen and true perception, what was standing opposite him was not a life form, but a mass of intertwined but unbroken light of laws. Hundreds of chains of laws wrapped tightly around the core of the rules, and then extended in all directions like octopus tentacles.

Some of the chains even disappeared into the empty space of the bit plane, as if they were still in close synchronization with some other bit plane.

Of course, the thickest chain of laws was linked to the Central Witch Tower. As long as this Onek Grand Sorcerer needed, he could hook up to the Tower Spirit whenever and wherever he needed, and thus control everything that happened within the Central Sorcerer Tower.

Seemingly sensing Grim's 'gaze', Grand Sorcerer Onec's spiritual light shone around him, and an invisible wave of rules cut off all of Grim's spiritual tentacles, before hiding himself in a bright light that was impossible to look at directly.

Grim barely took a step back and couldn't help but reach out and rub his eyes.

Not knowing what tactics the other party had employed, his eyes stung and he could no longer see!

"Little one, teach you a good boy... When you go out, don't always use your mental touch to probe around. If you encounter those with a violent temperament, you'll have to be disciplined for what you just did!" The Great Wizard of Onec he said, "Seeing as you're a newcomer to the Lord's Plane, I'll leave you alone this time!"

"More lordly instruction!" Grim bowed in thanks as he slowly released the fire elemental to repair the damage to his eyeball.

Honestly speaking, having just come out from within the bit, and suddenly changing from a bossy superior to a 'nothing' newcomer again, ordinary people might find it difficult to adapt to such a foot-stomping identity change.

Seemingly extremely satisfied with Grim's attitude, only then did a smile spread across Onek's face as he calmly said, "Follow me!"

With that said, a small two-meter tall teleportation light portal popped up in front of Onyk, and he walked in without hesitation.

Grim also quickly followed suit.

The teleportation location was located in a gorgeous and spacious meeting room.

The entire room was filled with a soft, bright white light that illuminated the floor, walls, and ceiling. There was a large wooden table and chairs in the center, with a variety of sorcery books, scrolls, and writing utensils such as ink and pencil scattered about.

As soon as Onyek returned, he sat directly behind the wooden table, then searched through the scattered debris for a while, eventually pulling out an old, rustic scroll from the bottom of a pile of crooked books and tossing it to Grim.

"See for yourself! As a newcomer, you'll have to abide by the rules above if you want to be permanent at Camp Esoda. Also, if you want to build a witch tower inside the camp, you'll need to report the location and specifications of the tower beforehand..."

As soon as the scroll was in his hand and his fingertips perceived that strange toughness and smoothness of the material, Grim moved a little in his mind.

In his mind, the chip immediately projected the material conclusion.

The Dragon Skin Scroll!

The reason why he was sure that it was a Dragon Skin Scroll was because Grim perceived a faint scent of dragon power on it. Only a guy like him who had a small dragon bit and had been in contact with various dragon tag materials for years could perceive it so keenly.

Unfolding the Dragon Skin Scroll, he immediately saw the dense sorcery text on it.

Kermetian.

It's arguably the most widely used witchcraft language and script in the witch camp!

The content of the scroll is also very simple, just an introduction to the size of the Esoda camp and the rules that govern it, with a few more rules for outsiders to follow, and special things to be aware of.

Overall, any out-of-territory camp is welcome with open arms to the great wizards!

After all, the more resident Grand Sorcerers there were, the greater the camp's apparent strength and potential influence would be. Moreover, every Grand Sorcerer was not alone in the world, and they had a not insignificant amount of power behind them to get to where they were today.

Therefore, every great sorcerer stationed in the camp was equivalent to introducing a sorcerer power that had considerable influence in the Bit World!

As for the size of the power, it would depend on the great sorcerer's own talent for management and administration.

However, most sorcerers didn't like to do these trivial and complicated things, so it was still very rare for one to actually grow into a large power.

The real owner of the Esoda camp belonged to the 7th rank Grand Sorcerer Irunwald, while the current actual controller was his disciple, the 6th rank Grand Sorcerer Onek.

If Grim wanted to reside in Camp Esoda, he would inevitably have to build a tower of his own, and it would have to be included in the unified planning and management of the camp.

Of course, Grim had already established a foothold in Camp Esoda more than two hundred years ago, and that was the Iron Capital, which was located outside the camp. Only, this Capital of Steel was located outside the camp and was not under the direct protection of the camp.

So many times, the Steel Capital had to defend itself against attacks from wandering starfolk or starbeasts!

And once Grim chose to join Camp Esoda, while being blessed by the power of the 7th Order Grand Sorcerer, he also had to take on some of the camp obligations accordingly. That was... needing to hang out in some of the camp's law enforcement departments and become one of the administrators.

Of course, as a Grand Sorcerer, he didn't need to do the hard work himself. Some complete and efficient teams exist in all departments of the camp, and they are the worker ants that keep the whole camp running.

As the top management, the hanging Grand Wizard only needed to periodically review their work accomplishment and then reward or discipline them according to the rules and regulations. It was only when there were some big events that they couldn't handle that the Hanging Grand Sorcerer needed to step in and coordinate a solution.

And such a big event would not necessarily occur once or twice in eight or ten years....

So, most of the great wizards don't refuse such camp obligations!

What's more, only by controlling the camp's law enforcement department could one install some henchmen into it. In this way, one could also meddle in the resources and materials market within the camp, thus acquiring some rare resources that could only be found outside the domain.

Such a mutually beneficial thing would undoubtedly be very generous to newcomers who had just stepped out of the Bit World!

But unfortunately, Grim had his own plans for his future life, so naturally, he couldn't follow the footsteps of those 'ordinary people' going forward.

"Have you chosen yet... which department of the camp are you going to join?" Onek yawned impatiently inquiringly.

Grim carefully handed back the Dragonskin Scroll and whispered, "My lord, I do not intend to join the camp!"

The air in the room froze for a moment.

Onyek looked up sharply, examining Grim seriously and carefully for the first time.

"You said...you don't want to join the camp? Do you have any other connections to other camps? Is it pulling you over from the Endless Garden?"

For some reason, at the mention of the name Endless Garden, Onyek's lazy, loose eyes turned steeply cold, as if there was a hint of anger hidden within.

"Endless Garden?" Grim shook his head slightly, "I've never heard that name before..."

"So what are you going to do if you don't stay in the camp to learn about the situation outside the domain and gather some resources along the way? The situation outside the Domain is very complicated, you shouldn't think that you can just wander around here with a 5th rank strength. In these thousands of years, I alone know of more than a dozen great sorcerers that have fallen outside the domain, so don't be reckless!"

"I'm going to go to the Fire Elemental Realm to develop... It fits my soul origin, so it should be much better than the Out-of-Domain Camp!"

"The Fire Elemental Realm..." chanted Onyx, and had to nod his head in agreement with Grim's idea.

Indeed, as a pure fire witch, Grim wouldn't be too repelled by the indigenous fire elements there if he ran to the Fire Elemental Realm. As long as one was willing to put in the thought and effort to plow through the Fire Elemental Realm for hundreds of years, there was no problem with being a free fire elemental lord.

As for the Fire Elemental Monarch... this one seemed to need to be favored by the consciousness of the Fire Elemental Plane.

As an outsider who sneaked in, the difficulty of getting such favorable treatment could be imagined.

"Since you don't intend to become a member of the camp, you can't stay here for too long. Also, the small trading post you placed outside the camp is no longer under the camp's protection! Have you thought about the consequences of that?"

"Already considered!"

"Well, you can leave then! Remember, you can't stay in the camp for more than a year, and you must leave Camp Esoda within a year!"

Grim bowed in response, which was intended to leave.

And the moment he was about to teleport away, Onyek's voice suddenly sounded in his head again.

"You're new here, there must be quite a few organizations trying to pull you in. You should pick your eyes carefully, and not get mixed up in the conflicts and contradictions of those superior sorcerers..."

The red light flashed and Grim's figure disappeared.
