Age of Adepts

Chapter 1466 - Ancient Mysteries

With the assistance of a ground-headed snake, Grim's next job of ruling was much easier and more comfortable.

Compared to the fire creatures that had lived in this region for millions of years, a 5th level Grim was simply as good as a fire deity. No matter how much they struggled and resisted, it was impossible for them to change the final outcome of things.

And unparalleled strength was the key to ensuring that Grim's will could be carried out and executed!

Taking down Lakebeth was the equivalent of knocking down the first domino, and by snowballing his way he was able to make a sizable presence in the area. But most of the flame creatures were not ambitious, much less had the ambition to dominate the entire fire elemental plane.

And a 5th ranked Flame Monarch like Gromus would occupy a wonderful land of flame and then enslave some nearby flame creatures to act as servants. That would be enough, and there was absolutely no need to spend time on attacking one flame lord after another.

The Fire Elemental Plane was a typical mega-plane, with more than ten times the space of a large plane like the Sorcerer's World.

The upper limit of power between the two sides is even more disparate.

The Sorcerer's World could only carry a maximum of 4th stage power, while the Fire Elemental Plane's power limit was 7th stage... This meant that within the Fire Elemental Plane, it was highly likely that one would encounter a terrifying flame creature of 7th stage.

A fellow of such strength, Grim would probably be an ant-like existence in front of it!

As a rank 5 Fire Witch, Grim naturally couldn't afford to lose out. The habitat he had carefully selected for himself was a special place called the Molten Fire Altar.

It was rumored that this molten fire altar was once the passage to a certain powerful flame lord's divine kingdom. However, with a great change, this Flame Lord fell completely, and the Sacred Flame on the Altar of Molten Flame was extinguished.

Nevertheless, the divine power that had permeated the surroundings of the molten fire altar for tens of millions of years still hadn't completely dissipated. Thus, but all the guys who worshipped the flame and believed in it did not dare to get too close to this molten fire altar.

And as an outsider, Grim naturally didn't have the reverence that was engraved in the soul consciousness of the flame creatures. Therefore, among the huge map that Gromoth gave himself, it seemed that only this molten fire altar could match Grim's 5th rank status.

So, leading the embers web spider mother, Lakebeth, on the 68th day of entering the fire elemental plane, Grim arrived at this molten fire altar.

It was a silent and desolate land.

Even with Grim's vast and pervasive spiritual power, he was unable to perceive life and soul in this land.

It was as if some kind of curse had been cast on this place, and even the heat waves blowing in the face of the hot and parched earth had an indefinable sinking smell.

The wind was trumpeting bleakly, the fire was whimpering, and the entire land seemed to be crying....

Just after setting foot on this land, that embers web spider mother Lakebeth, who was following closely behind Grim, wrapped her arms around her, her hideous and ugly face showing a hint of awe and cowering.

"Master, you'd better not choose this place! I...I can smell the scent of death and resentment here. Even a high-ranking creature like us might have to be tainted with something bad if we stay here for a long time..." advised Lakebeth hesitantly.

Grim didn't reply, but instead stood pinned in place, silently surveying the land in front of him.

In the distance at the end of the line of sight, rolling volcanoes of varying heights could be seen in all four directions. The black smoke from the tall volcanic cones was rolling and flaming, and black clouds of smoke were piling up in the sky, covering the entire sky and earth with a dark red and blackish sky.

Surrounded by mountains, there was a gentle plain with a crescent-shaped lava lake covering an area of twenty miles in the center of the plain. The molten fire altar was located at the edge of the sunken lava lake.

The scale of the molten fire altar is exceptionally grand and majestic, surrounded by huge stone pillars about a hundred meters high, and in the center is a stone altar divided into four tiers, at the top of which is a compass-shaped strange stone platform.

Due to its age, the altar was already very worn out and old.

Not to mention that the stone carvings and patterns on the altar had crumbled and fallen off, even the huge stone pillars erected around it had mostly collapsed and disintegrated, leaving only a two- to three-meter high stone pillar foundation in place.

For some reason, looking at the ruins in front of him that seemed like ancient ruins, a bizarre scene inexplicably surfaced in Grim's mind.

The entire sky, the entire earth was a fiery red, and a huge light gate the size of a thousand meters stood pinned in the center of the plain. And before the light gate, the molten fire altar was burning with glazed strange purple fire.

The huge plain was densely packed with flaming creatures from all directions, all of them of different shapes and ranks, but with the same fervent faces, guided by a single flame priest, piously praying to the purple fire on the altar.

Every once in a while, the purple fire would suddenly burst into a strong mane and then project a purple halo of light on certain flame devotees within the arena.

Whenever the purple glow appeared, the arena would erupt into a mountain of cheers, and the prayers of the many Flame Believers would also rise to a deafening level. Under the envious gaze of the crowd, the devotees whose bodies were projected with purple light would slowly walk up to the altar, and then strangely pass through the huge light door, completely disappearing from the arena.

Every time at this moment, the atmosphere in the arena would blaze to the point of nearly bursting into flames.

All the Flame Believers became more devout and fanatical, hoping to become the next batch of lucky ones to be chosen.

Passing through the Gate of Light... entering the Kingdom of God... becoming completely one with the Origin Flame....

For some reason, this inexplicably strong desire had similarly invaded Grim's spiritual consciousness, making him also want to kneel down and offer a devout prayer to the molten fire altar.

"Drop, sensing the intrusion of the mysterious will of the outside world... Ask the subject to remain vigilant..."

"Drop, detecting subject consciousness confusion, activate rule protection immediately..."

In the next second, the two regular auras that haunted the exterior of Grim's body abruptly collided, waving out stars and dots of law light, instantly pouring a layer of golden light film over the surface of the hundred-meter-high flame body.

With the isolation of the golden film of light, the inexplicable feelings that transcended space and time dissipated into the void.

Grim stirred up a cold war and woke up again when the scene in front of him suddenly disappeared, still returning to its previous lonely and desolate appearance.

"Chip, what's going on? What just happened to me?" Grim inquired in a deep voice.

"Drops, a strange spirit fluctuation force field has been detected in this region... Initially judged to be an inexplicable temporal regression of historical scenes from the ancient era... Please pay attention to the subject's mental protection!"

A psychic wave force field?

Time travel back in time?

Grim savored it carefully and couldn't help but become even more curious about the molten fire altar at the end of his line of sight.

Looking at the look of the scene, it seemed that the Fire Elemental Plane had also appeared millions of years ago with a powerful flame creature similar to a deity. It had opened up a huge Flame Kingdom somewhere, and then left behind a molten fire altar to serve as a passage for selecting flame followers to enter the Kingdom.

The deities of the Fire Elemental Plane....

If such a guy really existed, then he would definitely be a thousand times more powerful than the Fire God of the Gods World. Without it, the number of believers and the number of mad believers would not be on the same order of magnitude.

Most of the gods of the Gods World were pinned to a certain main material plane, and no matter how many intelligent creatures there were, they couldn't compare to the elemental plane. Moreover, most of the elemental creatures were simple-minded and had simple needs, unlike the intelligent beings on the main material plane who had a chaotic mind and inordinate needs.

Thus, if a flame deity did come out, the fire elemental plane would definitely need as many fanatical devotees as it could get, and it would be much better than going for those scarce resources of devotees in the main material plane.

However, as far as Grim knew, the most powerful Fire Elemental Plane was no more powerful than an 8th rank Flame Lord, and had never heard of a Flame Deity who started out with faith.

It seemed that it was hard to birth a true Elemental Lord from among elemental creatures!

And all of this was also said to have some sort of direct connection to the Titan clan.

Grim had once met a sorcerer who speculated in his review of the ancient sorcerer's biographies of the Scattered Earth Tallinn that the four elemental planes were where the basic particles of the entire multiverse were enriched, and were also the source of the spells of all the material plane's extraordinary abilities.

In order to prevent the four elemental planes from giving birth to overly powerful individuals that would block the material plane from drawing energy from the elemental plane, the Titan clan would be instructed to regularly patrol the elemental plane and remove those powerful existences that could potentially grow into elemental lords.

Therefore, with the vast lands and endless elemental beings of the four elemental planes, the highest that had ever been born was an 8th rank Elemental Lord, but never a 9th rank Elemental Lord.

That was the most fundamental reason hiding behind the curtain!

In that case, the Flame Lord that had fallen would have been a powerful existence at the peak of the 8th stage. It was precisely because it was too powerful that it had suffered an attack from the Titan clan, resulting in the collapse of the divine Kingdom and the destruction of the altar.

Even though tens of millions of years had passed, this molten fire altar still retained some of the strange power from the ancient era, and was able to drag those who came after it into some sort of spiritual illusion, thus understanding some ancient hidden secrets from one side.

However, Grim had just broken free from the illusion with his own power. If he hadn't broken free, what kind of outcome would he have faced?

Grim hesitated and asked in a deep voice, "Lakebeth, have you ever heard of this molten fire altar? Is there a taboo here?"

Lakebeth, the Ashes Web Spider Mother, huddled behind Grim, scanned the altar in the distance with fear, and said in a trembling voice, "As long as it is a native creature of the Fire Elemental Plane, it will not actively approach this molten fire altar. Instead, all those outsiders seem to be summoned by this altar, thus unknowingly being drawn in."

"There are often outsiders who go missing here?"

"Yes! Many of the outsiders have not been seen since they approached the altar, and no one knows where they have gone. But more reliable information says..." at this point, even Lakebeth couldn't help but lower his voice, "They were all sucked out of their souls by the dead Flame Lord and became the energy for its resurrection again. As for whether it's true or not, I don't know!"

The Flame Lord's premeditated resurrection...this is a shockingly big news!

Grim couldn't help but narrow his eyes.
