Age of Adepts

Chapter 1472 - Terrifying Numbers

Having met some 'acquaintances' here, Grim couldn't help but secretly marvel at the magic of fate.

However, before he could finish his lament, the scene in front of him throbbed again.

What appeared in front of Grim's eyes was a huge and spacious crystal hall with a gathering of high-ranking sorcerers inside. When Grim stepped into it, all eyes swept in unison, and a vast and surging spiritual pressure pressed in, causing the young sorceress who was accompanying her to change her complexion.

Grim looked slightly moved, stepped forward, blocking the young witch behind him, and coldly faced the overwhelming spiritual pressure that was bombarding him.

Without hesitation, Grim's overflowing spiritual power formed a silver light shield, blocking it in front of her. The four rule auras in its body also manifested at the same time, transforming into four strange runes that shone on top of the light shield.

Boom....

There were no loud explosions, no ear-piercing roars, and all the earth-shattering collisions took place on the invisible and insubstantial spiritual level.

Grim stiffened, his body trembled, and his feet sank violently into the crystal floor.

And within the hall, the thirty or so Grand Sorcerers were all grinning giggling together, some of the impatient ones even couldn't help but chant.

"Down...down...down...down fast..."

Grim's entire body was like a thunderbolt, trembling slightly, and his spiritual consciousness was as numb as scurrying electricity, oblivious to where he was. However, the four-colored rule runes on top of the light shield all began to run wildly, swallowing up wave after wave of incoming mental waves, which was how Grim's mental protection was not overwhelmed by the other party.

If Grim was really just a newly promoted 5th rank Grand Sorcerer, he would have fallen to the ground in a dazed state of consciousness at this moment. However, the strong rules protection coupled with the tough spiritual barrier had already made his spiritual defense not weaker than those old great sorcerers who had been around for thousands of years.

Thus, Grim only slightly wobbled a few times and carried the impact of the spiritual aftershocks, standing firmly in place. It was just that the overly violent spiritual power had nowhere to vent and was channeled into the ground, thus causing the crystal floor within the ten-meter radius where he was standing to crumble inch by inch.

His feet involuntarily fell into it as well.

"Why aren't they falling?"

"Isn't he a newcomer?"

"Zamuel, is your information accurate..."

The hall immediately exploded with a mental mantra that was like a void storm, and a spiritual consciousness came and went, expressing its astonishment and regret, stirring up a vast area with a variety of visions.

"Alright, all of you, shut up!"

Uggily, an incomparably strong spiritual consciousness rose into the sky, surprisingly suppressing all the chaotic spiritual fluctuations.

All of the great sorcerers turned slightly pale, but had no choice but to gloomily withdraw their overflowing spiritual consciousness.

"Remember, from now on, no more of this silly game for me. Hmph!"

The hall was immediately clouded.

Although Grim didn't know what they were secretly communicating, he quickly caught the source of the sweeping spiritual fluctuations with his keen mental perception.

It was an oval-shaped spacious crystal hall, shaped somewhat like an opera house. The hall was left high and right low, with rows of seats distributed in a ladder-like fashion, numbering over a thousand, but there were only thirty-six witches sitting sporadically, all of whom were of the 5th rank.

On the right side of the hall, at the heart of the oval hall, there were five crystal chairs placed side by side, but only the second seat on the left was occupied by an old man with a white beard. Looking at its aged and pale appearance, no one would suspect anything even if it collapsed and died on the spot the next moment.

However, Grim's gaze towards this person was filled with a deep awe.

Because most of the people in the arena were light red in his perception, with only a few scattered ones showing a deep red or even dark red. But this white-bearded old man was a piercing deep purple in his eyes....

Light red means slightly threatening, dark red means moderately threatening, dark red means extremely threatening, and as for dark purple... it means extremely dangerous!

The secret war that had just taken place between the many great witches had obviously frightened the young witch quite a bit. She hurriedly bowed and saluted the white-bearded old man, then ran out of the hall without looking back.

The white-bearded old man was also examining Grim with great interest.

He picked up the sorcery scroll on the crystal square table with his pointed fingernails and softly recited, "Grim, new sorcerer, originated from the Tallinn region of the scattered land of the sorcerer world, rule sorcerer route, flame specialization..."

As the white-bearded old man recited, the gazes of the many great sorcerers towards Grim took on a hint of a look of indecipherable condition. The few dangerous people that were specifically marked by the chip were even looking at him with a good eye and a hint of hostility in their gaze.

"Alright, now that everyone is here, we can briefly lay out our tasks!" As soon as that white-bearded old man clapped his hands, a majestic and inviolable authority spread out all over, "Grim Wizard, you should also find a place to sit down first!"

Grim responded in a deep voice, and with a sweep of his eyes, he picked a more empty corner and sat down.

Nearly a thousand people in a large space but only thirty or forty people were seated, the entire venue naturally seemed empty and scattered. But all of them were great sorcerers, and each of them had a large or small spiritual protection area, and would never allow another complete stranger to get too close to them.

So, with a huge halo of light enveloping the entire venue, instead of being loose, it was slightly tight.

"Some of you may already know me, some of you don't, so I'll introduce you." The white-bearded old man heedlessly said, "My name is Grissom, I'm the person in charge of this recruitment mission, and I'm also the assignor of your tasks for this period of time. So, if you guys want to get through this beast cutting battle unharmed and return with a full load, then behave yourselves..."

As he spoke, the small eyes of the white-bearded old man, whose eyelids were drooping, suddenly burst out with pure coldness like substance, coldly sweeping across everyone's faces. Every 5th rank wizard who was facing it couldn't help but feel slightly intimidated and voluntarily averted their gaze.

"Perhaps some of you are still participating in a large-scale bit war for the first time, so I'll briefly explain the rules of the war."

"First of all, the main target of our battle is that 8th Order Orc Goddess Lineage's Lord God A**. Also known as the One-Eyed Tyrant, this guy is a tyrannical, cruel and murderous powerful deity. The clans and followers under his rule are also all brutally tyrannical and battle-hardened fearsome warriors."

"Under him, there are nearly twenty deities of all sizes, all of whom are capable of fighting and adept at killing orcish deities. If we add in those main god bilocations, genus god bilocations, consciousness projections or divine messengers of sorts, the enemies we face are also very powerful."

"However, you need not be overly fearful. That A** and the subordinate gods under him would never hide in the divine Kingdom in a violent manner, but they wouldn't dare to take half a step out of the divine Kingdom. Therefore, the ones that appear on the battlefield will only be their deity bilocations or descending consciousness projections."

"Those big names will certainly be handled by more powerful sorcerers, while those present will have to work a bit harder and need to ensure the proper functioning of our affiliated and foreign legions. The rough and tedious work of attacking bits and raiding bits will naturally be taken over by those below, while we, on the other hand, will be their barrier to ensure that they are not hit by the orcish superclass forces."

"Usually, all of you here don't have to personally sit at the front lines. And when wherever your power is needed, we will teleport you there. If you want to get into a fight with those orc gods and goddesses billet, you'll be able to do it. If you don't want to fight, you can just use your power to force the enemy so that they can't interfere with our attacking forces..."

"How about it, you all understand the nature of the mission, right?"

Grim nodded in silence, it was really similar to the information he had gathered.

As such, it seemed that coming out to plating and reaping the rewards of this quest would be a very easy task. Moreover, there was one more thing that this Gleeson Wizard hadn't said explicitly, and that was that every orc deity billet that went into battle would have more or less a fragment of a divine grid in their body.

As long as one dared to take the risk and kill a billet of the lowest ranked orc deity, the harvest of the divine grid fragments alone would be enough to overshadow the rewards of this quest.

However, orc deities were extremely good at fighting, and to find an advantage from them, an ordinary Grand Sorcerer wouldn't even dare to think about it.

"After all I've said, you'll be curious as to how we normally distribute our battle quests. Well, I'll give you a tour now!" The white-bearded Grissom sneered heedlessly and snapped his fingers, and the crystal wall behind him became crystal clear and transparent, revealing another scene in the back.

Behind the crystal wall, there was another huge circular space, and in the center, a huge cluster of crystal crystals stood straight up in the sky, almost running through the entire Giant Rock Castle.

Most of their bodies seemed to be embedded inside the crystal cluster, and only a small part of their faces, along with their mouths, noses and ears, were exposed.

On the outskirts of the circular space, there were as many as eleven other places like the crystal hall where Grim was. All the crystal halls were laid out in a similar format, like flower petals clustered quietly around the periphery of the circular space.

Through the distant space and the transparent crystal walls, Grim could even see the powerful sorcerers sitting quietly with their eyes closed inside the Crystal Hall opposite.

Seeing this scene, Grim was horrified.

There were a total of twelve crystal halls, and if the number of great sorcerers in each hall was like this, it meant that there were already nearly 500 great sorcerers gathered in this Giant Rock Castle.

That didn't include those Grand Sorcerers of the 5th rank and above.

What a terrifying force this was!
