Age of Adepts

Chapter 1528 - Rising Sun Cloak and Ancient Red Dragon

Looks like that 8th level Flame Lord's remaining soul is still a thief!

Grim hesitated, but finally opened a gap in the witch tower and welcomed the spirit wave in.

"Boy, you're tough enough to go away for that long!" As soon as that mental wave broke in, it couldn't wait to whine.

"Great Lord Gumanres, if you have nothing else to do, you will be excused! I'm still very busy here..." the Grim looked as if he was cold to the core.

"Boy, I can smell the fragments of the Divine Grid on you again... That's odd, you're not very powerful, so why do you always have access to such unexpectedly high level resources... Tsk, tsk..."

"I've earned this by being born and died on the bit battlefield! Well, if my lord is all right, I need to rest!"

"Wait a minute..." the Ancient Manres Remnant Soul finally couldn't hold back and said, "Kid, think again, as long as you're willing to sacrifice the shards of the God Grid to me, I can give you some benefits that you would never expect..."

"Is your lordship always accustomed to such empty promises?" Grim smirked as he pulled out a shard of the divine grid from his bosom and tossed it gently, the crystal clear crystals reflecting a radiant and charming dazzling light in the air, "If you want to trade, you might as well list what you have. As long as it's suitable, I'll naturally trade with you, no need to swallow like this!"

The remnant soul of Guman Res stagnated abruptly, and the spirit fluctuation rested on that divine grid fragment for half a day before it slowly returned to normal.

"My original body no longer exists, my soul has been shattered and scattered throughout the Fire Elemental Plane, and the Divine Kingdom is even less than a hundred years old... However, as a former Flame Lord, I do still have some good things left. Those things... Just relying on the mere fragment of a Godhead in your hand but..."

Before he could finish his sentence, the remnant of the ancient Manres soul was startled, and his mental consciousness wavered slightly as he watched Grim pull the second shard of the Godhead out of his arms.

"These are still not enough..."

Then, the shards of the divine Grid in Grim's hand became three.

Only Grim's face also showed a hint of impatience.

The remnant soul of Guman Res knew that if he didn't come up with something that could attract the other party's goods, he was afraid that he would be banished by it in the next moment.

"Your stuff is still not enough! But I can let you see my side of the goods first..."

With a special spiritual fluctuation, an image of a slowly rotating object was projected in the void.

It was an exquisite cloak woven purely from the feathers of a fiery red bird, with pure and supreme magical flames flowing through it, its appearance exquisite and beautiful.

"Rising Sun Cloak, 6th rank magic item, woven entirely from the tail feathers of a high ranked undead bird, comes with a fire feather barrier and flame aura, with a base defense of 50,000, rebounding 20% of attacks. It also possesses some of the magical properties of a divine object like the Undead Bird, allowing the owner of the item to enjoy a bath of fire!" Gumanres introduced it softly.

Grim couldn't help but suck in a breath of cold air.

What a powerful fire supreme treasure!

Not only is the base defense super high, but it can also bounce back some of the enemy's attacks, and more importantly, having it also gives you a daily death-free slot. All in all, the price/performance ratio is really quite high!

However, the fact that the other party was a former 8th-rank lord, and the only item he took out was a 6th-rank item was clearly somewhat unsatisfactory to Grim.

"Great Lord Gumanres, don't... don't you have any 7th or 8th rank items that you can take out to look at?" Grim was dissatisfied.

"Seven or eight steps?" Guman Res was astonished, "Boy, you don't think that 7th and 8th rank items are everywhere, do you! Even back then, I only had one 8th-rank treasure and three 7th-rank treasures in my hand..."

"Then show it to me!" Grim was eager.

Honestly, Grim had never seen what a Tier 6+ item looked like before!

"But most of those things were damaged in the final war. Even the ones that were occasionally left behind were divided up by those Flame Kings, so how could they be preserved!"

"So you've lied to me about this sunburst cloak too?"

"That's not true, but a small bit of my shattered God's Kingdom remains, transformed into a super-small half-domain that barely survived. That's why I have a little bit of inventory!"

"That's good. What, how are you going to deal? I'll sacrifice three shards of the Divine Grid to you, and you'll give me that sunburst cloak?"

"Well...we might need to have a discussion!" The residual soul of Gumanres suddenly struck an abrupt, seemingly rather obtrusive subject to say.

"What do you mean?"

"There's an Ancient Red Dragon still alive inside that fragment of the divine Kingdom I have left, and it's currently occupying that half of the plane. So, if you want that cloak, you might...might...probably...have to get past the Ancient Red Dragon!"

"Ancient Red Dragon? How many steps?" Grim was shocked at the news.

"Step 7!"

"Bye!" Grim blocked out the spirit fluctuations of the Ancient Manres Remnant Soul without hesitation and closed the outer protection of the Witch Tower again.

The 7th rank Ancient Red Dragon was guarding there... Damn, if I go there, I'm not giving it a head for what!

As for why there was a 7th rank Ancient Red Dragon inside the Ancient Manres Divine Kingdom, it was nothing strange. As one that was determined to be crowned a god, it was inevitable for it to gather a few high-ranked thugs under its hand.

That Ancient Red Dragon was most likely its dragon pet!

It was only because that was Gu Manres who was rank 8 and the Ancient Red Dragon who was rank 7, and the disparity in status between the two sides, that the other side would be so submissive and respectful. And now that the two sides were upside down, with only a wisp of Gu Manres' soul left, what means could Gu Manres use to enslave and control a 7th rank Ancient Red Dragon!

So, the dragon's pet was out of control, it was something you could think of with your little finger.

The remnant soul of the ancient Manres that had been blocked out was still persistently energizing Grim, while Grim simply ignored it.

This strand of remnant soul definitely still had a lot of good stuff in its hands, and it wouldn't easily take it out without pushing it to a life or death situation. So, just like boiling the hawk, Grim would have to slowly boil the strand of Gummanrez's remnant soul.

Grim had plenty of time anyway, and wouldn't mind spending hundreds of years taking his time with it!

After kicking out Guman Res, Grim went straight to the magical prison inside the Witch Tower, where a 'prisoner' of great interest to him was still being held!

Inside a dark and dusky magical prison, the Dragon Wraith Trueman was tied to a red iron pillar. The chain made of fine gold passed through its shoulder blades, collarbones, ribs and limbs, and a strange golden flame burned on it.

The indestructible flames burned its body and soul at all times of the day, and when it was dying, the flames would pause and then give it some magical energy. So this time the Dragon Witch Demon's powerful self-healing ability would allow it to recover again.

And then the next ordeal would begin again!

It was a horrible torture that went on week in and week out, almost all the time.

And it had been more than ten years since Grim had gotten the Dragon Wraith Truman here from the Goblet Plane. During that time Grim hadn't tortured or questioned it once, and had simply left it here to its own devices.

So by the time Grim stood before this Dragon Witch Demon again, it was close to a mental breakdown, and the entire 'man' was going half-crazy!

It couldn't be helped that a sentient creature couldn't withstand this endless and terrible torture.

In the past, the Dragon Witch Demon Trueman thought he was important and was prepared to die for the sake of his inner beliefs. But who would have thought that the other party would have abandoned it and ignored it for over ten years, just torturing it.

This kind of negligence and indiscipline was what frightened Trueman the most!

"Thinking about it yet? Hand over the life box and I'll release you and give you quite a bit of freedom. If you dare to refuse, then next time it will be a hundred years before I see you again..." questioned Grim with carelessness, acting as if I'll turn around and leave if you dare to refuse.

Trueman really couldn't take it anymore!

It was an immortal creature, living for tens of thousands of years would be a breeze. If it was really tortured by the other side for that long, what was the point of it easily reborn as a Dragon Wraith!

The Dragon Witch Demon Trueman finally lowered his head in pain.

Under Grim's close surveillance, Dragon Witch Demon Trueman hung his head and cast a spell to open an alien dimension, then took out his Witch Demon Life Box from it.

It was a purple casket encrusted with various colored magical gems, on which were drawn all sorts of strange and mysterious magical patterns and rune lines. Even through the transparent barrier made up of layers and layers of magical force fields and spell barriers on the outside, one could still sense the faintly rhythmic soul inside.

Dragon Wraith Trueman knelt down and presented Grim with the Wraith Life Box in both hands.

Grim received it and scanned it with the chip to make sure it was real or fake. Then he gathered a ray of red mane from his fingertips and wrote a flame rune on Troutman's forehead, watching it etch into his flesh a little before nodding in satisfaction.

With the Wraith Life Box as a 'hostage' and this flame branding, Grim was able to completely let go of the Dragon Wraith.

"This Witch Tower is located in the Fire Elemental Plane, which isn't suitable for you to live in the long term, so I've arranged a different place for you. I'll send you to the Wizarding World later, and you can go there to assist Mary in controlling the Crimson Family and that Horton Witchcraft Academy! Also, you'll bring these things to Mary on your way over, and tell her they're my gift to her!" With that, Grim waved his hand and a few items floated in front of the Dragon Wraith Truman.

A fragment of the divine Grid, ten points of divinity, a thousand crystals of divine power, a 6th rank divine bow 'Ancient Guardian' Lundilor, a 5th rank artifact Evasion Boots and a 5th rank Death Strike wrist guard....

As he looked at the top-grade treasures and resources that were all over the place in front of him, Dragon Witch Truman greedily licked his lips, feeling for the first time this strange master's extravagance.

Damn, was this something a 5th rank human sorcerer should have? If you were willing to give me any of the items inside, I would have surrendered long ago....

Dragon Wraith Trueman thought with infinite resentment!
