Chapter 465 - 240: The Prophet’s Prophecy
「The Hall of Reincarnation—Divination Sanctuary」
A Divination Master, his face completely hidden by a large hood, sat before a wooden table. In the Divination Master’s hands was a glowing Crystal Ball.
This Divination Master really looked the part.
"Morodo, perform a Divination for me. If I go to that Dungeon, will I be ambushed?"
The Divination Master called Morodo said nothing.
He simply caressed the Crystal Ball before him with both hands, and it emitted a soft glow.
He didn’t speak, but simply drew an "X" on the table.
Seeing this, Saint One let out a soft chuckle.
"Haha."
"Then, Morodo, if I go to that Tier Seven Dungeon this time, will I encounter matters related to Reincarnation?"
Morodo once again caressed the Crystal Ball in his hands.
This time, he drew a "√" on the table.
"Was the Reincarnation in this Tier Seven Dungeon intentionally set up by someone else to lure me in?"
Even though he had already asked if he would be ambushed, his caution drove him to ask about it again.
Morodo still drew an "X".
"If I enter this Tier Seven Dungeon, will I gain anything?"
Morodo drew a "√".
"Are there any Special Restrictions in this Dungeon?"
Morodo wrote on the table: "You cannot rely on the power of machines. You must enter with a purely physical body."
...
He asked a dozen or so questions in a row, and nearly every answer was a positive one.
After asking all his questions, Saint One mulled it over for a moment.
Then he turned and left the divination room.
After Saint One left, the Divination Master with the obscured face looked up slightly. His expression was lifeless, filled with a deathly stillness.
’This guy is still as cautious as ever.’
’Asking so many questions just for a trip to a Dungeon.’
’Good thing I’m controlling this Divination Master... Still, a silent, taciturn role is certainly easy to play.’
The Divination Master was only Level 5.
It seemed that in this world, there really weren’t any High Level Divination Masters who pledged loyalty to a faction.
Unlike other Professions, even in a sect as vast as the Reincarnation Sect...
...the strongest Divination Master was only Level 5.
The code of a Divination Master was indeed different from other Professions. Other Professions could do as they pleased, which was why every faction had more than just one type of High Level Profession.
Within the Reincarnation Sect, there were Level 6 Observers, Level 7 Mages, Warriors, and Archers. There even seemed to be an existing Level 8 powerhouse, currently in the Land of the Moon in the Moon Sea.
There seemed to be nearly two hundred Level 6 Reincarnators.
And the number of Level 7 Reincarnators wasn’t that much lower proportionally, with a dozen or so of them.
This Sect was truly a behemoth.
It was worthy of its reputation as a Sect that had stood for several thousand years and was highly renowned in the Moon Sea.
But even with so many Level 6 and Level 7 Reincarnators...
...their Divination Masters were still only Level 5.
A Divination Master who joined a faction could no longer follow the Divination Master’s code. Only a solitary, independent Divination Master could continue to climb higher...
And any Divination Master who reached Level 6 would, to some extent, plan to contend with that ever-elusive concept of Destiny.
They wanted to advance further down this path.
After leaving, Saint One went deep underground beneath the Sect’s grounds, arriving at a forbidden area enveloped by countless Restrictions.
The sound of hissing steam filled the air, and pipes like blood vessels spread out in a fine network.
The great door opened, and Saint One stepped inside... Upon seeing his arrival, the Mechanicians within bowed to him.
"Saint One."
"Saint One!"
The room was filled with human limbs. However, these limbs were not ordinary flesh and blood, but hybrid creations of flesh and machine.
What was being manufactured here were replaceable mechanical bodies.
Saint One only came to take a look.
At the very center of the laboratory was a massive cultivation tank. Sealed within it was a purely physical body.
This body was none other than...
...Saint One’s own original body.
Saint One spoke, "It’s nothing. Continue with your work."
...
After inspecting the room, Saint One walked out and began to pace in thought...
About two hours later, while still lost in thought, Saint One passed through a narrow alley.
Suddenly, his Perception stirred.
He saw a mysterious, middle-aged man sitting on a cloth spread out on the ground like a stall.
There was only a single sign on the ground.
The sign read: "Prophet Divination".
Seeing the divination sign, Saint One paused for a moment, then asked, "Sir, are you a Prophet?"
The man revealed a subtle smile. "Of course, Saint One."
Addressed in this way, Saint One’s tone suddenly changed. "Oh? So you really do know who I am."
"How could I not know of the great Saint One’s reputation?"
"Since you claim to be a Prophet, I do have a few things I’d like to ask. I just don’t know if your Divination... is accurate enough."
The man chuckled softly and closed his eyes.
"Saint One, the Second Reincarnation Sanctuary is your last chance to obtain Reincarnation."
"The one who stole your Reincarnation Mark will no longer appear before you in the Future."
Upon hearing the self-proclaimed Prophet’s answer, Saint One froze.
SWISH!
A Magic Staff composed of countless mechanical parts appeared in his hand, pointed at the Prophet.
"I see. You’re the one who stole my Reincarnation Mark."
The Prophet, with the staff pointed at him, showed no reaction at all. He simply smiled faintly and said, "You don’t really think that."
Saint One observed the Prophet carefully.
But he saw that the man’s aura was calm and steady, showing not the slightest trace of fear or unease.
With just one sentence, he had exposed his greatest secret.
"But now that you know my secret, do you think you can just walk away?"
The reason he was safe right now was because the major factions still believed him to be that invincible, unassailable Reincarnator.
If the fact that he could no longer undergo Reincarnation was exposed, an endless stream of enemies would come for him. If word got out, he might have no choice but to abandon the Sect he had built from scratch, find a place to live in obscurity, and only re-emerge after becoming the strongest being in this world.
"Heh."
"As a Prophet, I am naturally aware of my own Destiny."
"But if I were to say that you are about to regain the chance for Reincarnation, would you still kill me?"
Saint One lowered the Magic Staff that was pointed at the Prophet and smiled. "If your advice proves useful, the Reincarnation Sect will honor you as our most distinguished guest. From this day forward, your status will be equal to my own."
"For the rest of your life, regardless of your loyalties, you will always have a place in my Sect."
He then asked cheerfully, "I just wonder, what is this brilliant insight you have?"
"And what is this about regaining Reincarnation?"
"Perhaps you could also let me experience your insights into Destiny and the Future."
"If you’re willing to share some details from my past that only I could know, we might be able to build a deeper bond of trust. Whatever code you wish to practice, I, Saint One, will do everything in my power to support you."
Saint One didn’t believe him rashly. Instead, he generously laid out his terms.
Practicing one’s code was something every Reincarnator did. While probing the Prophet, he also proposed a tempting exchange of benefits. As long as the man’s identity was genuine, there was little reason for him to refuse.
