Almark – Northern Sword, Southern Wand
Group breakdown
Class began the next day.
Al Marc shouted his chest to Ilmis, who had not seen him for a long time, and told him to come to the magic practice hall because he would start teaching magic after school today.
After the usual class, Almark tried to get out of the classroom in a hurry, but Wallis, a classmate, stood in front of everyone to get in the way.
Guys, listen to me.
Wallis often says that in a passing voice and looks around the entire class.
"We have to decide on the players for the next martial arts competition. Five in two matches, a total of 10. Eight men and two women."
The class becomes noisy at once.
There are 16 students in this class: 10 boys and 6 girls. Almost all boys have to come out.
"There are only two boys."
Morgan is blurry.
"Me and one more. Who's that?"
"Why do you have to be a substitute?"
Nelson says.
"In the meantime, Wallis and Almark are definite, aren't they? Torque and..."
Wallis raised his left hand to block Nelson's words.
"I'm sorry, but I can't get out."
The unexpected words calm the class back.
"I hurt my right arm on vacation."
As Wallis rolled up his right arm's sleeve, he wound his bandage painfully.
"Ah, you're lying! Wallis can't get out, he's the number one in my class."
Nelson voices disappointment.
"Wallis"
The torque also turned a tight eye on Wallis.
"You can win with one arm. Let's go to the game."
"No, I can't."
Wallis refuses in vain.
"On the left, anyway, I injured the right of my dominant arm. I'm sorry."
Wallis said he didn't want to impose it here.
"I have Dr. Fear's permission."
There is no change in the soft expression on a neat and straight face.
The torque hits my tongue and drifts into the classroom.
Never mind the air, Wallis continues.
"The women are represented by Leila and Wendy. Do you have any objections?"
There can be no objection from anyone. It was obvious to everyone that those two abilities were flying through among the girls.
Wallis calls Wendy after a few moments to make sure no one has any objections.
Wendy, listen to me.
"Yeah."
Wendy nods.
What about Leila?
I don't want to.
Leila answers immediately and everyone looks at her.
Leila looked out the window boringly.
"Are you qualified to let people do it if you run away? Wallis"
Then I don't mind.
Wallis nodded without changing his expression.
"You should go and talk to Dr. Fear yourself. [M] If there's a good reason not to."
Leila looked at Wallis in agony.
"... I'm leaving."
"It's settled."
Wallis smiled.
"The girl is decided. And then the boys."
Then Wallis calls out their names.
"Torque. Almark."
Wallis says to the two of them with their faces up.
"You are the leader. Torque pair 1 pair, Almark pair 3 pairs. Let's name each one of the boys one by one, all six of them."
I'm Garaine and Deg for now.
Torque name your surroundings.
"In turn," I said. Either way. "
Wallis says, "I'm glad."
Wallis, I don't mind.
Almark said.
"I'll take Nelson."
Oops, Nelson replies happily.
I see. Then pick another one. I've already chosen two torques. "
Wallis answers.
This is the first time he's talked to Wallis properly... and Almark looks at the rest of the boy's face.
"Well then... Reido"
Almark names a boy.
"Okay. Okay, torque."
"... Pillman."
Torque takes the name of another boy, and the remaining boys are two, except Wallis. Morgan and the buyer.
Almark, pick the last one.
Encouraged by Wallis, Almark answered without hesitation.
Morgan.
Morgan raised his voice and showed the relief of the unselected buyer.
"All right, boys are on board."
Wallis slapped his hand.
"That's it. One game with Torque, Garaine, Deg, Pillman, and Wendy. Three games with Almark, Nelson, Morgan, Reido, and Leila."
As he left the classroom, Almark called out to Wallis as he was leaving in the hallway.
"Wallis"
Wallis looks back.
"Hello, Almark."
"I'd like to ask...."
Wallis nods with a smile at Almark's words.
"What? If that's what I know."
"... why don't you want to go to martial arts competitions?
"What?
Wallis smiled back, but there was a sharp light in his eyes.
"You are."
Almark ignored his gaze and continued.
"Is there a reason why you don't want to go to martial arts competitions? It's so strong."
That's how I look back at Wallis.
Until you lied that you were hurt.
Wallis' eyes sparkled dangerously in those words, but his expression remained the same.
"... I don't need to answer that stupid question of yours, Almark."
Wallis replies in a gentle tone.
"I am injured and Dr. Fear has given me permission to be absent. That's everything."
"... I see. Okay."
Almark returned the snare.
Wallis stared cold at the back as he walked away.
That face wasn't laughing anymore.
