Chapter 1038: Free Choice and the inevitability of the plot (more)

Demonstration of the new Jericho missile at the military base of the Lighthouse State.

He was attacked as he left by car, and a missile exploded around him, unconscious.

Wake up in the cave and be forced by terrorists to build missiles for them.

Successfully created Mark 1's escape day, returning to the Lighthouse State for a press conference announcing the closure of Stark's military industry.

Inspired by Mark1, it was decided to develop a brand new wearable armor.

……

Zhang Zhibin took some time to finally fully integrate Tony Stark's character setup.

As the plot progressed, Zhang Zhibin slowly learned about Tony Stark's character through the reaction of the surrounding NPC.

He's a tech genius who can develop timeless tech products, but he's also a playboy, arrogant, punctual, often overlooking the feelings of those around him, and sometimes lacking basic self-reliance - just like those science freaks.

It must be admitted, however, that he has a unique personality charm that allows everyone around him to feel comfortable approaching him, and that they will tolerate him even if he is often as casual as a child.

Of course, these were inferred by Zhang Zhibin through the reaction of those around him. “The original Stark” no longer exists, and now Zhang Zhibin's Stark has become another person.

Zhang Zhibin didn't feel wrong, he played Tony Stark according to his personality and habits and enjoyed it.

Obviously, the people around Stark, including Colonel James and Chili, were very surprised by Tony Stark's change. Zhang Zhibin was very happy to see this situation.

It made him feel that he was not experiencing the lives of others from the perspective of others, but really replacing them.

In the course of the game plot, Zhang Zhibin also probably understood why this freedom could be achieved in the Iron Man game.

This so-called “freedom” is not, in fact, unlimited.

In fact, the Iron Man game is a box court game, and its story is divided into a small section, where players can act as they please inside each section, without decisive impact between the section and the section.

To give a simple example, in the Casino scenario, players can choose to go to the casino first, then to the casino, or they can choose not to go to the casino and go straight to the casino.

If the latter is chosen, the plot is closer to the movie plot; choosing the former is nothing more than adding a playable part of the speech for the player.

By the same token, have you chosen to spend the night with the female journalist Christina, have you been late when you rushed to the military base of the Lighthouse State, which way you fled when you were attacked on the road, have you just begun in the cave to promise to build missiles for terrorists...

Players can try different choices in each session as they wish, but these choices do not affect the plot of the next session.

For example, in this attack, no matter which way the player runs, the missile lands “precisely” in front of the player and explodes, sending the key shrapnel that propels the plot to the player's body.

But what if the player does it on some critical plot?

For example, at the press conference, Tony Stark announced the closure of Stark Industries' weapons R&D department, and if players deliberately said at the press conference that they wanted to “invest more in weapons R&D," wouldn't that be a complete contradiction?

In order to solve this problem, consciousness-implantation techniques will be used.

First of all, the player experienced the cave plot and was well aware of the impact of Stark Industries' missiles, and most players would make the same choice as Tony Stark from the heart after experiencing the plot.

Secondly, when the player stands on the stage, consciousness-implantation technology implants a stronger idea into the player's mind, "Shutting Down Stark Industrial Weapons," which influences the player's decision and guides him to make the right choice.

And finally, what if the player has to reverse the plot?

That would amount to driving into the river, not completing a mission, being shot dead by terrorists, and gameover, and the plot would start again at the last checkpoint.

Despite the high degree of freedom, the whole story still has dramatic lines that can be deviated, but certainly not completely opposite.

This approach strikes a good balance between “freedom” and “plot mainline”, allowing players to achieve initial “high freedom” in the virtual world through the practice of box games.

……

At this time, Zhang Zhibin, or Tony Stark, was standing in front of the holographic projection, making a new suit with Jarvis' help, Mark 2.

“I never thought I'd experience a science maniac in a virtual world. I have to say, it feels... great. ”

Zhang Zhibin looked at the Mark1 projection in front of him, and all he had to do was move on to this virtual projection and remove all the excess parts on it, and then design a new drawing with Jarvis' help.

There are a lot of ideas in his mind, like adding a jet component here, adding a controller there, or something special.

By following these ideas, you can get an increasingly precise model. Or simply give Jarvis most of the work, and Mark2's holographic projection model is automatically generated.

Later, Zhang Zhibin successfully created Mark2's leg assembly.

After wearing it, Zhang Zhibin couldn't wait to try it on.

Jarvis prompted him to select an axial load support for a value between 1% and 10%.

“Five percent then.” Zhang Zhibin chose a median number.

Three seconds later, Zhang Zhibin felt a powerful thrust coming from under his feet. His whole body could not help but vacate, and then he turned his heel and fell hard on the ground on his back.

“Pfft...”

The fire extinguishing robot next to him sprayed dry powder on his face.

What Zhang Zhibin didn't know was that he was lucky.

Tony Stark chose an axial load support of 10%, and then the whole person stuck it on the wall. And he chose 5%, just to land on his back.

Continue manufacturing hand armor.

This time, Zhang Zhibin put on his hand and foot armor and chose to start with an axial load support of 1%.

Mark1 is also airworthy, but imperfect, and Tony just barely took off a parabola and crashed into the desert.

From Mark2 onwards, the Iron Man suit was truly capable of free flight and precise control, and Zhang Zhibin is now experiencing this process of conducting flight experiments.

Zhang Zhibin felt his hands and feet create a powerful thrust, and the whole person slowly lifted up.
