Chapter 1383 - 356: Requiem VI_2
But he didn’t have time to be frustrated, instead he immediately shouted desperately, "Pull me in!" Fortunately, the others didn’t notice this small mistake of the young lord. After all, escaping from that terrifying creature was already an incredible feat.
The knights of Lantunilan were just waking up from their daze, and the three knights standing at the front of the crack immediately rushed out to drag him back. Brand was already not far from Ben, only a meter or two off, the knights reached their half bodies out and pulled him back in.
On the other side, the princess had been pushed by Brand to Barbara’s feet earlier. The old witch hurriedly helped her and the sugar jar inside, one in each hand. It must be said this old witch looked shriveled and small, but still had quite some strength. "Thank you," Griffine weakly replied, her shoulder showing a shocking blood-red, the massive blood loss turning her already pale face paper-white, yet even now she struggled to maintain the etiquette— or rather the airs a noble should have.
In Brand’s or anyone else’s eyes, it might be hard to understand what kind of material nobles who view face as more important than life are made of, but for a princess of a nation who received such lessons from a young age, certain values were only natural.
However, for this elder princess, perhaps there was one more thing to add, and that was her stubbornness.
The princess saw Brand lying on the floor covered in blood, startled, hurriedly whispering, "Mr. Brand?"
"I’m okay." Brand wasn’t lying, in fact most injuries he had were scratches from hitting the rocky wall directly at the end. He just looked wretched, compared to the injuries of Princess Griffine which were much more serious. But Brand had no time for nonsense, because Mother Spider had poked her head through the gap again, attempting to reach in with her two front claws to drag them out.
Everyone was shocked, hastily retreating into the crevice further. Mother Spider was just a bit away from reaching the outside knights, angrily shrieking horribly, the sound sharp and piercing, like a blade slicing through glass, truly horrifying. But only Brand knew Mother Spider absolutely couldn’t get in here, though this place wasn’t safe either. He commanded, "Don’t stop, keep retreating inside, there are plenty of her offspring here, she will think of a way to have them come in to hunt us."
The group was already terrified by Anasilon, upon hearing there were little spiders, who dared pause, hastily continuing deeper along the crevice. With the aid of a knight, Brand moved forward, after resting for a bit, finally catching his breath, only then did he take out Holy Water distributing it among several injured knights including the princess. The power of Holy Water naturally needed no elaboration, soon enough the looks from others were curious with hints of reverence.
In their eyes Brand encompassed omnipotence, such a young lord who could both defeat the Flame Temple and escape from terrifying monsters, treasures on him seemingly endless, as if no situation could stump him. Such a person even if in long poems and legends might have never existed.
Knights couldn’t help privately consider that if today’s tale were spread, perhaps it would become a legendary folk song in taverns across Erune and Vaendel Land.
After the princess drank a bottle of No. 7 Holy Water, she held the bottle in her hands, dazed for a moment. She looked at Brand with puzzled eyes, Holy Water being different from regular magic items, typically requires understanding both alchemy and being a high-ranking priest of the Flame Temple to make, yet Brand had so much Holy Water— even though she saw only a few bottles, this quantity was plenty. Moreover, Brand shared these Holy Water with the knights, without a trace of distress on his face when doing so.
This showed he definitely had more Holy Water on hand. Griffine although not coveting these Holy Waters, couldn’t stop herself from growing more curious about Brand’s experiences.
She increasingly wanted to know what secrets this man still held, like wanting to confirm the other’s identity and purpose always in her heart. The Half-Elf Girl tacitly acknowledged Brand as her knight, but everyone knew this identity was somewhat untrue, even the princess herself felt the other had too many indescribable elements on him. Between him and her, it was less like knight and princess, more akin to an equal relationship— and she had to accept his help too.
