Chapter 1465 - 9: Dark Current_2
"Hehe, why so tense?" The young man grabbed the maid’s hair and pulled her over amidst her screams, sniffing her face. He turned back and smiled, "Lady Nia, I’m here to see my dear sister; it doesn’t seem like you’re qualified to tell me to get out now, does it?"
"This is Miss Delphire’s private room... you’re insane! Let her go, that’s the Princess’s maid." The Female Knight’s hand was gripping the sword hilt so tightly it turned pale, yet she dared not draw the sword.
The previous Earl of Yan Castle had four sons, of which the third son died young, and the youngest son became a wizard’s apprentice and has been unheard of since. The eldest son is the current Earl of Yan Castle, Delphire’s father—Delphire headed to Ambeser merely under the Earl’s title, and has yet to truly inherit the territory— and the second son, is the infamous ’Dear Darrel’, also the father of the young man before them.
There’s a saying that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, just as the righteous Earl of Yan Castle has a daughter like Miss Delphire. In Nia’s view, it’s only natural for Baron Daler to sire a son like Acker - both father and son are scum among scum.
Only then did the young man release the maid, and the poor girl let out a cry of fear, stumbled, and ran out. Acker, however, laughed, emitting a series of enigmatic laughs: "Lady Nia, don’t think that just because you’ve allied with the Princess, I can’t do anything to you. You’re my woman, and you’ll never escape that identity for the rest of your life."
"Beast!" the Female Knight cursed through gritted teeth. When she first became a knight, she was naive enough to believe this person’s sweet talk, and she could never forget that nightmare-like night when this demon-like young man drugged and forcibly took her body. At that time, he was only fourteen, and she was just eighteen.
Thinking of the past, she shook with rage, "Acker, I’m counting to three. If you don’t disappear from my sight, don’t blame me for being impolite!" With a whoosh, she drew her longsword.
"Enough with the act, Lady Nia, if you wanted to kill me, you would have done it already," Acker said with a smile. "Besides, I’m not here today to reminisce with you. You know what my dear sister has done; I’m here today to stop you from further disgracing the family."
"A leopard can’t change its spots. Acker, what nonsense are you spewing." Nia frowned, pointing her sword at the demon’s throat; she sensed Acker’s ill intentions – even though he might not even know what good intentions are.
"You really know how to act, Lady Nia. My dear sister has been accused of practicing demon spells, and the Holy Temple has officially started investigating the matter; even the Earl is well aware. As her close knight, you must be aware, right?"
"How could this be..." Upon hearing this news, Nia’s mind went blank, though she had long known that Delphire’s brief control of the Demon King on the battlefield couldn’t be kept secret, she at least held a glimmer of hope. Wasn’t it for the victory of the war? The Princess, and even the Earl, can attest to it.
The Female Knight shook her head vigorously, as if to calm herself down, "It was the Holy Temple itself that lured the demons; how could they do this? The young lady sacrificed herself to fight against the demons, the Princess won’t leave it be!"
"Hehe, the Princess can’t even protect herself; how would she have the time to care about your lives." The young man sneered, taking a step forward, letting the cold sword blade press against his throat, replying with an unchanged expression, "Nia, I’m genuine about you. Believe me, only I can protect you and your young lady; stop opposing me."
The Female Knight’s face changed, "You... you’re actually targeting Miss Delphire? She’s your sister!"
"She’s my cousin." The young man corrected, coldly replying, "Lady Nia, don’t force my hand."
"Don’t come any closer, demon!" The Female Knight trembled all over.
The young man snorted coldly. Just then, the door opened once again, and a tall man draped in a gray cloak came in. The man wore a hood, shadow completely obscuring his face as if a dark void; when he spoke, his buzzing voice seemed to emerge from the void:
"It took a while to handle that knight."
"After all, he’s a Golden Rank expert. Be careful, my dear sister brought the three best knights from the territory this time. Deal with that woman first, be careful not to harm her," the young man tilted his head slightly and instructed coldly and emotionlessly.
"Understood," the man answered with a buzz, turning his head to face the Female Knight. Nia gasped as she saw what lay beneath the hood wasn’t a shadow but rather nothing at all, a complete emptiness.
"What have you done to Ronin!"
She roared and swung her sword at the mysterious figure. In her memory, apart from her, Ronin, and Iyeve, there were no other Golden Domain experts in Yan Castle, but this person gave her a sense of cold, fearful aura, unlike the Element’s strength, more like the chilling aura of death.
Or rather—it was lifeless, like a void.
Before her sword landed, she suddenly felt a horrific shock explode in her Spiritual World. Nia had never experienced such terrifying power in her life, as if a sharp awl had been driven straight into her brain, making her scream and clutch her head, kneeling down on the ground.
The Female Knight’s piercing scream made the young man frown, seeing Nia’s once fair face contorted, bleeding from her nostrils and eyes, looking terrifying.
Then the tall man walked over, striking her on the back of the neck, and she slumped to the ground unconscious.
"Do you not know how to be gentle?" the young man asked irritably.
"There are no other humans in the Golden Domain in this room, so I needn’t hold back," the man answered with a buzz.
"Alright," the young man impatiently waved, "drag her out; I have some words to say alone with my dear sister."
The tall man gave a respectful bow, then dragged the unconscious Female Knight out of the room. Acker looked back, coldly smiled, closed the door, and approached Delphire’s bed.
