Chapter 1399 - 361: Requiem XI_2
The knight let out a terrible scream and suddenly slipped off his horse. In an instant, he was dragged down by countless hands. After a series of screams, he was dismembered by the demons right there, and even his unfortunate horse was torn into fragments.
Brand saw those little demons grabbing the knight’s remains, their faces covered in blood as they turned towards him, and he couldn’t help but feel a surge of nausea. Although he had seen such scenes in games, such experiences were a product of ’harmonization,’ unlike the bloody display now unfolding right before him.
However, as an experienced warrior, his anger burned far stronger than the queasiness that made him want to vomit. With one hand, he protected the pale-faced Antitina, while with his right hand, he raised his sword, and with a flash of light, the three little demons charging towards him were instantly chopped into seven or eight scattered pieces.
The stinking blood rain merged into the curtain of rain, showering over both of them. Blood pearls and bits of flesh landed on the Staff Lady who, feeling nauseated, nearly threw up but quickly covered her mouth with her hand.
"What’s wrong? Are you alright?" Brand quickly asked.
"No," Antitina weakly shook her head. "Lord, please look after your own safety."
"I understand."
"Look over there!" someone screamed.
Brand raised his head to see several mountainous beasts ’cutting through’ a sea of red. Their towering bodies seemed to be made of tightly packed muscle hills, with three enormous heads bobbing up and down as they charged forward, each showing off a bright red tongue—these creatures rushed down a nearby hill, crashing into the densely packed formation of little demons, directly knocking them flying or crushing them into meat paste without any need to slow down.
Hellhounds.
Behind them were more Hellhounds, like sharks entering a crimson sea, their high, towering backs like dorsal fins splitting the waves among the monsters.
Brand’s heart tightened; the demons’ reactions were faster than he had anticipated. He suddenly realized he had underestimated these creatures, having gauged their combat capabilities by the standards of his own era. But he soon found these demons seemed even more formidable than those in the game.
"Keep the formation tight, be careful of their breath!" Brand had to loudly remind, "Char!"
"I understand, my Lord!"
The young Wizard, guarded by several knights, held his Magic Wand in his left hand while pointing with his right hand into the distance—Magic Power triangle forward, "Dragon Strike Technique!" Boom, a loud noise erupted, and a net of light expanded before Char, with a blazing white center shooting a beam of green light across the curtain of rain, trailing a slightly arced line along the horizon.
The beam hit the head of one Hellhound, piercing it from a diagonal rear angle, vaporizing part of its spine and brain entirely; the Light Spear’s other end thrust outwards, sending the massive demon sprawling backward, its corpse falling far into a crowd of little demons, instantly crushing countless.
Afterward, two low-level Hellhounds, unable to dodge, were also incinerated into ashes.
The green beam moved forward, unstoppable.

On Brand’s retina, the ghostly green numbers jumped continuously. These figures were more than he had anticipated, but it wasn’t necessarily good news, as it indicated that Hellhounds were of a higher Level than he imagined. To be honest, encountering demons in the game was something players faced much later on, when such creatures as Hellhounds were mere cannon fodder, and he had never truly considered the actual strength they possessed.
But now it seems, at least Gold Middle Upper strength.
Undoubtedly, the Sixth Tier Soldier of this era.
Char turned his direction again, releasing another Dragon Strike Technique. But after learning a lesson from the first time, the demons yielded less effect, only killing one Hellhound. However, within the time it took for two spell casts, those massive Hellhounds had already approached the crowd.
The first to face the assault was Brand at the forefront. A Hellhound, seemingly mad, charged through the little demons toward him, its three giant bloody mouths simultaneously biting down at his shoulders and head. If Brand hesitated even slightly, he would be decapitated in an instant.
But sadly, before they could open their mouths, Brand keenly ducked, making it seem as if the Hellhound hadn’t yet launched an attack, but Brand had already dodged first. The timing was critical, and the creature simply didn’t have time to react before lunging at empty air.
It bit into nothing but air, as Brand was already under its head. With his left hand leaving Antitina’s elbow, delivering an upward strike, a crack echoed as it hit the Hellhound’s neck.
Hellhounds are different from Demon Hounds; having endured a longer existence, they became Leaders of Demon Hounds, having been through countless battles. Their combat experience far surpasses their lower-ranked counterparts. When Brand slipped underneath its belly, it immediately reacted, lowering its head and opening its mouth to spit.
If it were any ordinary warrior, they would be hit squarely. Unfortunately, it faced Brand; the young Lord was even more familiar with this creature than it was itself. He delivered an upward elbow strike, instantly returning the Hellhound’s spit back to its origin.
With a whimper, its spit nearly regurgitated back into its stomach. The intense pain left the Hellhound powerless to counterattack, and Brand took the opportunity to stand and directly lifted the giant beast up high, while with his right hand, slashed the Earth Sword, cutting it in half.
