Chapter 1102: Hunted

Mara continued to hunt more beasts and grow stronger, but beasts weren’t the only targets. She carried out assassination attempts.

While it was true that she didn’t mind if she died in one way or another, she still did everything it took to survive.

It might be because she didn’t want to die. It might be because of the hamburger and cola that she kept tasting from time to time.

More and more of her peers died. All this time, Mara had never shown anything special. She might have taken first place many times, but she never used her killing intent openly.

Standing out too much would just make her a target.

However, it all changed after that day.

"After we’re done with them, we will kill all of them. They’ve become a liability for us. They’re not particularly outstanding compared to the other generations, so it would be best to throw them away.

"You know why we can’t release them to the world. That’s why they will be good target practice for the younger generations."

"I understand, sir. I will arrange it."

Mara, who had been using her senses to the maximum, couldn’t help but overhear the conversation.

She just leaned on the wall while thinking, ’I guess this is the time.’

It had been four years since she had come into the outside world. Her progress was much higher than anyone else’s.

"..."

As she heard, three generations under her started to hunt her and her peers on a mission.

"Kill them!"

"Kill her!"

"That’s the target. I will kill her!"

Mara looked around. Her peers died in one way or another. In one place, she had seen a guy’s head being impaled to the ground with a wooden spear. In another place, she had seen her peer getting dismembered and hung on a tree.

"In my generation, we may have killed a lot of people, but we have never degraded our targets." Mara looked at the fifteen incoming people.

All of them had bloodshot eyes as though the only thing they had in mind was to kill.

"All that killing intent..." Mara sighed. "I guess this is it."

Looking at her surrendering to her fate, all of them immediately charged forward. "Kill!"

Mara’s killing intent suddenly soared.

"!!!" All the people who charged at her were frozen.

"This is what killing intent should be!" Mara glared at them, unleashing a killing intent that they had never faced before.

This killing intent was so powerful that they couldn’t move their bodies. It was as if death was staring at them, so they could only wait for their death.

More importantly, they suddenly noticed the sky turning red as if it were reflecting her killing intent.

"In the next life, I hope all of you are able to live a normal life instead of getting captured by a shady organization again." Mara stepped forward and swung her glaive with both hands. Her glaive sent out a circular attack that cut everything in its path within a thirty-meter radius.

All the trees and the bodies fell to the ground, unable to oppose her.

What Mara did wasn’t surrendering. She merely thought that this was the end of her enemies.

And this time, the hunted became the hunter.

There were over 250 people who managed to survive after killing all of her peers. As a result, she killed all of those people without sparing a single one.

For the organization, this would be a huge blow. After all, four generations of hunters died in this place.

In the middle of the pool of blood, Mara stared at the sky. "I wonder... What is my purpose in this world?

"I don’t know what I want to do in this world..." Mara couldn’t help but remember the conversation she kept hearing whenever she stared at the ceiling.

The more she looked at herself, the more she realized the resemblance between her and the woman in that conversation.

"Having no purpose... Someone becoming my purpose... I wonder if I am happy outside this world. Maybe searching for a purpose is good. If I were the woman in that conversation, who would be the man?

"Maybe I should seek that man. But how am I supposed to find him in this world? The only thing I know is his voice; nothing else.

"Then, doesn’t that mean I have no destination? No, maybe I can find something out. That system... If this world is truly a simulation world, there might be a clue about the outside world. That clue is probably the system.

"In that case, I will try to search around for the clues while searching for that voice. If I can leave this world, I may be able to find the man to whom I’ve been talking. Maybe he can become my purpose again.

"Still... Where should I find a clue? And it’s not like the organization will ignore this situation. If I just go like this, they will haunt me. In that case, there’s no need for the organization to exist."

Mara made a fire before burning the entire forest.

"Farewell, my peers, my juniors. Live a better life next time." Mara looked at the burning forest. "Now that I think about it, where should I go this time? I don’t have any destination yet.

Mara tilted her head in confusion before looking at her glaive.

She paused for a moment before letting it go. The glaive fell and pointed in a certain direction.

"Sounds good to me." Having no destination, Mara nodded her head. "Maybe I should set a small goal for myself and make this a bit more enjoyable.

"Let me taste all the hamburgers and colas that exist in this world." Mara closed her eyes as if she were thinking about it. "Indeed. I think this is a great goal. Well, I should also destroy this organization if I want to be completely free.

"But I don’t exactly have the power right now. I guess I will just let it flow freely for a while until I can do it."

Mara nodded. "Let’s find a hamburger to eat first."
