Chapter 124: The Game Begins
The days passed, one by one.
Moira Lynch climbed out of the tub full of Body Forging Aloe Night once again, stumbling as she went to wash herself off. She asked casually, "How many times has it been now?"
[Twenty-ninth time,] Patience replied.
[After the thirtieth time, you’ll be able to use the Body Refining Worms.]
’Twenty-nine days had passed without her even realizing it. Doesn’t that mean the next round of the game is about to start?’
She opened her phone. Sure enough, plenty of people online were discussing it.
[Tiga in Norcast: I’ve finally suffered through this long enough. I can’t take another day of this shitty life. I really hope the game starts right now.]
[Makka Pakka: @Tiga in Norcast, aren’t you afraid you’ll fail the game?]
[Tiga in Norcast: Who cares? I’ll take what fun I can get.]
[Igglepiggle: Seriously, I really hope the game starts soon. This god-awful weather... I can’t stand it for another minute.]
[Lord Prosperity: @Igglepiggle, aren’t there Chimefin scales? That stuff isn’t even expensive.]
[Igglepiggle: Not expensive, but not cheap either. My family has to save our money for food. We only have one Chimefin scale, and we have to save it for the elderly and children.]
[Misty Cloud: Everyone, let’s not be so pessimistic. I believe that as long as we unite, we can definitely overcome this difficulty.]
[Misty Cloud: I’ve created an organization so that everyone can help each other clear the game. When the time comes, once you’re in the game, just give the secret sign.]
[Grits: It’s you again, Black Widow. What, have you already ruined all your previous teammates? Looking for new ones to screw over now?]
[Misty Cloud: I don’t know why you hold such malice toward me, but I really just want to help everyone. Besides, this is what SoySauceDrunkard would have wanted.]
The netizens, who had been ready to just watch the drama unfold, instantly lost their cool at the mention of SoySauceDrunkard. They all started asking Misty Cloud what she meant and if she knew SoySauceDrunkard.
At first, Misty Cloud was evasive, but after being pressed by the crowd, she "reluctantly" admitted that she did, in fact, know SoySauceDrunkard.
This instantly brought droves of people out of the woodwork. SoySauceDrunkard wasn’t just a name—it represented an endless supply of resources.
Especially after the recent Exoskeleton Mecha incident. Some people even speculated that SoySauceDrunkard might possess even more advanced interstellar weapons.
A saying even started circulating in player circles: He who has SoySauceDrunkard has the world.
With SoySauceDrunkard’s support, one could easily establish a nation in this chaotic new world.
However, SoySauceDrunkard was simply too mysterious. Even those with the Divination Talent couldn’t uncover her identity.
Now that someone had suddenly appeared claiming to know SoySauceDrunkard, how could everyone not be excited?
In an instant, almost everyone was bombarding Misty Cloud with questions about SoySauceDrunkard.
Being the center of so much attention gave Misty Cloud’s vanity an unprecedented sense of satisfaction, but she hadn’t forgotten her real purpose.
At that moment, her eyes were glued to her phone screen.
Her recent actions weren’t just to satisfy her vanity; they were meant to bait the real SoySauceDrunkard into revealing themself.
However, after waiting for a long time, Misty Cloud, still staring intently at her phone screen, couldn’t find a single message that looked like it was from SoySauceDrunkard.
Meanwhile, Moira Lynch didn’t react as Misty Cloud had predicted. She didn’t fly into a rage and lose her cool just because someone was using her name.
In fact, anyone with a brain could tell Misty Cloud’s claims were fake with just a moment’s thought. There was no need for Moira to personally explain anything.
After all, more than a dozen people had made similar claims recently.
At first, some people actually believed them and even got scammed out of their money.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before Misty Cloud was muted, and then her account was banned entirely.
Elsewhere, Misty Cloud stared at her banned account and furiously threw her phone to the ground.
Just then, a woman pushed the door open and walked in.
If Moira Lynch had been there, she would have definitely recognized the woman: Alice.
Alice picked up the phone from the floor and chuckled. "I told you, didn’t I? This method of yours was never going to work, but you wouldn’t believe me. This must be the tenth account, right? Still haven’t given up?"
Misty Cloud shot the woman a glare. "My business is none of your concern!"
Hearing this, the corners of Alice’s mouth turned up. "I couldn’t be bothered with a Black Widow like you. I came in to remind you that it’s time to eat. Of course, you could choose not to. That would just save us a portion of food."
Misty Cloud watched Alice’s departing figure, her eyes looking like they could kill.
In the end, she still chose to go eat. Nothing in the world is more important than eating.
Meanwhile, after scrolling on her phone for a bit, Moira Lynch left the space.
Based on when the last game started, tomorrow should be the day the next one begins. She had to get ready.
First, she needed to prepare food.
Moira Lynch had already prepared this long ago, keeping it stored in her Space Button. All she had to do was portion it out.
Also, every previous game had started with a sudden notification, forcing her to change clothes in a hurry. This time, she could change in advance.
Shane Rhodes, Kai York, and Hugh Finch each stored their portion of the food in their Space Buttons.
"By the way, Moira, have you finished your Body Refining?" Kai York asked.
"Not yet. I still have one more session to go. I’ll probably have to wait until after the game is over," Moira Lynch said.
Although the game was starting tomorrow, no exact time had been given. The Body Refining process took an hour—what if the game suddenly started while she was in the middle of it?
Therefore, Moira Lynch planned to complete the final Body Refining session inside the game itself, after it started.
But she didn’t intend to voice this plan out loud.
Back in her room, she changed her clothes and braided her hair into a scorpion-tail braid that hung down her back.
While braiding her hair, Moira Lynch used her fingers to gauge its volume. ’It seems to have gotten a lot thicker.’
She used to lose hair when she washed it, but not anymore. ’Could it be the shampoo?’
After finishing the braid, Moira Lynch put on a hat, glasses, and a mask, just in case.
Once all that was done, she began to sit and meditate.
Before meditating, Moira Lynch glanced at the time. There were ten minutes until twelve o’clock.
Ten minutes later, just as the hour and minute hands both pointed to twelve, the familiar game notification sounded in Moira Lynch’s ears.
[Good evening, dear players. A new round of the game is about to begin. Please prepare yourselves. Teleportation will commence in three seconds.]
[Three, two, one.]
