Chapter 115: Spatial Beast
Hugh Finch’s eyes turned white as his fingers traced strange patterns in the air.
A moment later, Hugh Finch slowly opened his eyes and said in a firm tone, "We’re going to the safe zone."
The three of them had no objections to this, of course.
Since the decision was made, they began packing their bags that very night.
Thanks to the Space Button, they packed with incredible speed.
Things were a bit more complicated on Moira’s end.
The insulation pads on the windows all had to be taken down. On top of that, she had a swimming pool full of water and the stray cats and dogs she had trained.
The swimming pool could be temporarily stored in her Space Button, but she couldn’t bear the thought of abandoning the stray cats and dogs she had worked so hard to train.
Moira went to Shane Rhodes and told him about her predicament. His solution was simple—just three words: "Take them all."
They packed everything that could be moved into the Space Button, working late into the night. Aside from the load-bearing walls, they stripped the house bare—not even the decorative paintings were spared.
Moira sat right on the floor and used her spiritual power to summon all the cats and dogs in the neighborhood to her house.
Before long, a chorus of "BARK BARK BARK" echoed from outside the door.
When she opened the door, over twenty cats and dogs were sitting obediently at her doorstep.
Seeing Moira open the door, they didn’t make a fuss. They simply stood up and filed into the room in an orderly fashion.
Once inside, the cats and dogs stared intently at her, as if awaiting her command.
Moira explained that they were about to leave.
With their current level of intelligence, they should be able to understand what "leaving" meant.
The cats and dogs didn’t seem to object.
In their minds, Moira was their master. As long as she didn’t abandon them, it didn’t matter where they went.
With everything settled, all they could do now was wait.
Moira didn’t remain idle, however. She immersed her consciousness in her personal space.
She had transplanted quite a few plants from the Isle Turtle into her space.
After a quick inspection, she found all the plants were thriving with no signs of wilting, and the Magpie-plumed Fowl were doing just fine.
Next, Moira located the Soldier Food Rattan and began attempting to propagate it by division.
Propagating the Soldier Food Rattan was a process both simple and difficult. The method was to bury its vines in the soil while ensuring the main plant continued to supply them with nutrients. After some time, new, smaller Soldier Food Rattans would sprout.
After burying all the vines, the rest was up to time.
Moira then took another stroll through her space. Seeing the vibrant dimension, brimming with resources, filled her with a profound sense of security.
As she passed the special ability fruit tree, she saw a new Bone Marrow Cleansing Fruit was about to ripen and nodded in satisfaction.
’It’s a good thing I found that Water Wood Stone,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, these Bone Marrow Cleansing Fruits wouldn’t ripen fast enough for me to eat.’
During her days in the game, Moira had been consistently eating Yoyo Fruits and felt her swimming had improved significantly.
Previously, she could hold her breath underwater for a minute or two at most—and that was with the boost from Bone Marrow Cleansing Fruits and Enhancing Fruits. But after a few days of eating Yoyo Fruits, she felt she could now easily hold her breath for over ten minutes.
’Is this the benefit they mentioned?’
The Wind Speed Fruits and Bounce Fruits had also brought about their own unique changes.
However, because Talents already have enhanced abilities across the board, the effects of these two fruits weren’t as pronounced.
Moira then made her way to the mysterious plant she had found in Mocha Forest.
The once-bare plant had now sprouted tender green leaves.
Even without physically entering the space, Moira could smell a faint medicinal aroma wafting from the plant.
But that wasn’t the most important part. The most important part was, what the hell was that behemoth lying underneath the plant?
After staring for a good while, Moira finally realized this behemoth was the same "little thing" she had picked up before.
The creature, once no bigger than a basket, was now an estimated two or three meters long—and that was while it was curled up. If it stood up, it would surely be even larger.
Moira took a deep breath, debating whether she should toss the thing out. After all, it was a massive beast. It looked docile enough now, but who knew what it would be like when it woke up.
’Toss it.’
’Don’t toss it.’
’Toss it.’
’Don’t toss it.’
After a fierce internal struggle, Moira decided to let it stay for the time being.
There was no other reason, really. It was just too beautiful to throw away.
Besides, she was the master of this entire space. ’Surely I can handle one little beast,’ she thought with confidence.
Moira circled it again.
It had always been facing away from her before. When she moved to the other side, she was startled to find the lion clutching a large, white egg. Vague, golden runes were visible on its surface.
’Wait, what’s with the egg?!’
Moira’s gaze flickered between the sleeping lion and the newly sprouted mysterious plant. ’Don’t tell me it’s the offspring of these two?’
For some reason, the egg in the lion’s embrace felt incredibly familiar to her.
However, she quickly dismissed the feeling, attributing it to a case of "love at first sight" based on its looks.
Even though she could only see a part of it, she was instantly captivated by its perfectly white and round shell.
’An egg this big would probably make a massive omelet.’
Just as Moira was about to leave, she noticed all the Magpie-plumed Fowl had gathered in one spot.
Curious, Moira went over to take a look.
When she saw what the Magpie-plumed Fowl were crowded around, Moira exclaimed in surprise, "So this is where it was."
The Wailing Tern’s nest.
She had collected so much during the game on the Crino Prairie that she had completely forgotten about it.
The leaves around the nest had dried up and fallen away, allowing Moira to vaguely glimpse what was inside through the gaps in the branches.
The surrounding Magpie-plumed Fowl were clearly attracted by whatever was inside as well.
With a flick of her will, Moira emptied the nest’s contents.
Moira then discovered that the Wailing Tern had been quite the collector, though most of its hoard was useless junk.
After setting aside the obviously useless fragments, she used Patience to filter out even more junk.
Less than a tenth of the original pile remained. From it, Moira picked up a round, black lens.
[Focusing Lens: Can measure the distance between the wearer and any object. Can be combined with any eyewear.
PS: The object must be visible to be measured]
Seeing this, Moira took off her glasses and placed the Focusing Lens on the left side of the frame.
The next second, the Focusing Lens in her hand vanished. The left lens of her glasses briefly turned black before quickly returning to normal.
