Chapter 155: Island Royale 24
「Day twelve of the game.」
Perry Yates and Amber Sheridan spent the entire day processing the prey Evan Fuller had brought back.
However, Perry Yates hadn’t been completely idle. She had long since made her vines grow to every corner of the island, and she was also monitoring every move on the island through the widespread vegetation.
Currently, on the entire island, besides the previously killed Dealer Player, Florence Moon, and the other Dealer Player Perry Yates had taken care of, there were eight people left, including herself.
These people were taking advantage of this rare period of peace to make all sorts of preparations, clearly getting ready for the dangers that might lie ahead.
「Day thirteen of the game.」
Early in the morning, Perry Yates checked on the island’s situation through the plants as usual, mainly to confirm the location of prey so she could send Evan Fuller or Amber Sheridan to hunt.
"Hey, something seems a little different."
Perry Yates furrowed her brow slightly as she processed the information fed back from the plants. Feeling a bit uncertain, she tried sensing it again, but the strange feeling vanished.
’Is it just my imagination?’
Perry Yates scratched her head. She then had the plants in that area conduct a thorough search. After finding nothing out of the ordinary, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed she was just being overly anxious.
「Day fourteen of the game.」
Evan Fuller was out for half the day and returned with only a few wild boars and some rabbits.
"The prey on the island is getting scarcer," Amber Sheridan said.
Perry Yates picked up the animals and began skillfully processing them. As she worked, she said, "If there’s no more prey on the island, there’s still the sea."
"Not a bad idea. Young people these days are sharp. But if we want to get a large amount of seafood, we’ll have to go into the sea. Just foraging along the shore won’t get us much food."
However, going into the sea meant facing threats from the ocean. The risks were obvious.
When the risk of something far outweighs the reward, it’s a mistake, and you shouldn’t waste time on it.
Noticing the hesitation in Amber Sheridan’s tone, Perry Yates said, "If the sea is a no-go, then we can only check out that lake. A lake that big can’t have produced just one crocodile, right?"
The image of that crocodile was still fresh in their minds.
But compared to the vast, boundless lake, the crocodile’s size was minuscule. Therefore, Perry Yates was certain that the lake absolutely couldn’t have produced just one.
"We’ll go tomorrow."
Evan Fuller made the final decision.
Tomorrow would be the fifteenth day of the game, the day it would truly begin to get dangerous.
As Dealer Players, they possessed not only strength but also an outstanding sense of crisis. For a freshwater lake this large to appear on such a big deserted island—one that had even produced a giant crocodile—there was no way it was just a simple lake.
Perhaps the final danger they had to face was located in this very lake.
So why go, knowing the danger? First, for hunting. Second, to keep the danger right under their noses.
「Day fifteen of the game.」
Perry Yates stretched, but the familiar system notification didn’t sound.
’Alright, it seems this game doesn’t allow you to quit midway.’
After the three of them packed up, they set off in the direction of the lake.
Along the way, Perry Yates was never still, constantly looking left and right. From time to time, her palm would gently brush against the surrounding plants.
"What on earth are you looking at?" Amber Sheridan couldn’t help but ask.
"Nothing, it just feels a little unfamiliar," Perry Yates said casually.
Hearing this, Amber Sheridan frowned and said, "Unfamiliar? You’ve never been here before, of course it feels unfamiliar."
He then looked away, apparently not giving the matter any more thought. Perry Yates had no intention of explaining, either, and continued to observe her surroundings.
’Oh well,’ she thought. ’I’m not entirely sure, but I should take some precautions, just in case.’
With that thought, a few leaves suddenly began to sprout from the top of her head, wobbling as she walked.
At the same time, countless streams of Wood Attribute Energy flowed from her fingertips, slowly nourishing and changing the surrounding plants.
After doing all this, a black light flashed in Perry Yates’s hand, and a seemingly ordinary black magnifying glass appeared.
[Magnifying Glass
Level: Three-Star
Ability: Can freely enlarge or shrink a locked target.]
Perry Yates held the magnifying glass, turned its power to the maximum, and began randomly aiming it at the surrounding plants.
Because she was busy with all this, Perry Yates’s pace wasn’t fast, and she maintained a certain distance from Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan, who were walking ahead.
As a result, although the two men knew Perry was busy with something behind them, they didn’t know exactly what she was doing and had no intention of turning back to look.
After walking for about two hours, the three of them finally arrived at their destination: the vast, boundless lake.
When they arrived, they were surprised to find they weren’t the only guests.
Perry Yates looked at the other three groups of people.
Justin Shaw was still by himself. Besides him, Veronica Beckett and Ronan Dunn, who had been in the group of non-Dealer Players she’d infiltrated before, had teamed up.
In addition to these three acquaintances, three other Dealer Players she had never seen before had also appeared.
Perry Yates stared, dumbfounded, at the three figures who looked like porcelain dolls. They wore Lolita dresses, carried Sunshade Umbrellas, and had on exquisite makeup. ’Were these three on the plane when it crashed?’
’It must be the effect of an item,’ she quickly realized.
However, she couldn’t tell if she was just seeing things or if it was real, but she felt like the three of them had copy-pasted faces. Aside from the color of their dresses and their irises, everything else about them was identical, right down to their figures and height.
’Are they triplets?’
Averting her gaze, Perry Yates decided to see if she could try approaching them later. She was mainly coveting their Talents and cards. Plus, those Lolita outfits were nice too. She’d have to see what kind of card they came from and, if possible, copy that as well.
Just then, Amber Sheridan and Evan Fuller found a place to rest. Perry Yates took out her inextinguishable campfire, and the surroundings instantly grew warm. Even the damp air became much more pleasant.
Then, Perry Yates plopped down on a nearby rock, pulled out a piece of roasted meat, and began to eat it with big, unladylike bites.
