The Giant-Armed Zombie looked like a roasted sweet potato that had been pecked by chickens. Large chunks of its charred shell were peeled away and flipped over, revealing the crimson flesh beneath.
Since the monster was already low on health, Lin Fan didn’t need to risk his life. He kept his stabs shallow, getting driven back by the zombie’s two-meter, hammer-like arm before he could strike a vital point.
The moment its energy bar filled, the battered Giant-Armed Zombie raised its intact arm high and smashed it down toward Lin Fan!
Lin Fan had learned his lesson this time. He hurled a piece of scrap metal at the zombie’s body and quickly retreated several steps, getting clear of the attack’s destructive range!

He raised the spear with both arms, about to thrust, when a sharp, explosive sound suddenly erupted from a building to the north!

’Shit! A Banshee Zombie!’
Following the sound, he saw that several apartments in a row of buildings had been set ablaze by the battery fragments sent flying from the earlier explosion. Roaring flames were now spewing from a few of the windows.
And from one of the fourth-floor balconies, a figure—blackened by smoke and fire but still clearly pale underneath—burst out of the flames and thick smoke and leaped down!
The Banshee Zombie, a master of stealth, had actually been forced out by the fire!
Its pale body traced an arc through the air, spinning, before its entire upper half smashed onto the ground with a sickening SMACK!

The Giant-Armed Zombie, which had been standing uncertainly in the middle of the road, seemed to be drawn by the vibration of the landing. It charged straight toward the Banshee Zombie, raising its arm as if to smash it!
But just as it was about to strike the Banshee Zombie, it stopped abruptly...
Seeing this, Lin Fan couldn’t help but frown. For a moment, he had been worried the Giant-Armed Zombie would steal his kill with one smash, but now the situation seemed to have become even more complicated...
The fight he had imagined never happened.
Even though the Giant-Armed Zombie was charred from head to toe, the two clearly had some way of communicating.
The Giant-Armed Zombie remained motionless, while the Banshee Zombie struggled to its feet and began to approach it.

Its body, as pale as a plaster statue, was covered in a layer of fine scales. Though mostly blackened by smoke and fire, they still gave off a cold glint in the sunlight.
Its woman-like upper body had been split open by the impact of the fall, creating several huge gashes that exposed the pinkish-white flesh within.
Its long arm, seemingly used to cushion the fall, was bent at an unnatural angle at the end, clearly broken.
Its lower half was no longer the nightstand Lin Fan had seen last time. Instead, it was a mass of pinkish-white, fleshy, segmented limbs, like the body of a hermit crab, with several pairs of incredibly tender-looking prolegs.
The whole thing looked like a bizarre fusion of a human and some kind of arthropod...
Its many prolegs were undulating like waves, propelling its entire body closer to the Giant-Armed Zombie.
The Banshee Zombie’s shriek had come from far away, so Lin Fan hadn’t been harmed.
But now, watching the Banshee Zombie slowly approach the Giant-Armed Zombie, he had an extremely ominous premonition. Just like the first time he’d discovered a Banshee Zombie, his sense of alarm was screaming.
’Since it’s clear they aren’t enemies, whatever this Banshee Zombie is planning to do, I can’t let them get close to each other!’
His mind made up, Lin Fan drew the short spear from his waist. Engaging his core, his arm shot forward like the taut arm of a siege crossbow!

Another sharp cry erupted from its thrown-back, anemone-like maw, but it was nowhere near as piercing as the last one. Just as Lin Fan had observed before, it couldn’t unleash two sonic attacks in quick succession!
Its slender arm wrapped around the short spear, trying to pull itself free!

Lin Fan knew the Banshee Zombie’s weak point was in its lower body; he had just missed his mark...
