Chapter 130: Woman, You Are Very Interesting
She swallowed and, feigning ignorance, continued to walk slowly forward with one hand on the wall and the other on her hip.
But after only a few steps, Lily Hart caught sight of a shadow on the ground in her peripheral vision. It was tall and imposing, and she could vaguely make out a messy, explosive-looking mop of hair.
’This looks way too much like that damn Zombie King!’ Lily Hart’s throat tightened.
She held her breath and kept walking. Suddenly, a weight settled on her right shoulder. Her heart leaped into her throat, and the hand she had on the wall clenched involuntarily.
The hand on her right shoulder gripped her forcefully, twisting the upper half of her body around. The Zombie King chuckled, meeting her fearless gaze.
"Well, well, Boss Hart, we meet again. This time, you walked right into my grasp..." Before he could finish, a massive Willow Tree materialized between them.
It completely blocked the Zombie King’s view. Lily Hart ducked down, wrenching free from his grip. A branch from the Willow Tree wrapped around her slender waist.
It tossed her over the wall. When Lily Hart landed, she accidentally twisted her ankle. A sharp, piercing pain shot through it, but she couldn’t afford to waste this chance to escape.
There was no time to worry about Roman Rowe and the little boy. Saving her own skin was the priority.
She ran desperately toward the RV, summoning plants to protect herself as she went.
She was certain now that even if the plants died, she could summon them again. They were endless, just with a twenty-four-hour cooldown.
With a wave of her hand, another plant appeared, blocking the Zombie King’s path.
But they were too weak against the Zombie King. As if taking a leisurely stroll, he effortlessly swatted away the plants that rushed at him.
Still, it bought Lily Hart some time. The roads in the industrial district were complex, and the Zombie King was hot on her heels.
Ahead of her was a maze of chaotic alleyways. Lily Hart was completely disoriented. ’This intersection looks so familiar. Have I been here before?’
An idea flashed through her mind. She remembered the system had a GPS function and quickly summoned it. "Quick, quick, locate the RV—"
"Wait, no, I can just summon the RV!" Lily Hart finally remembered.
For just one thousand points, she could move the RV to any location she wanted. She’d really been in too much of a panic to think straight.
Lily Hart rounded a corner, shaking the Zombie King from her line of sight. Suddenly, another person appeared beside her, nearly scaring her to death.
’Stan Sterling?! What is he doing here?!’
But this was clearly not the time to dwell on it. Stan Sterling grabbed Lily Hart, and the two of them ducked into a random building.
They locked the door and huddled in a corner. Lily Hart shook his hand off, gritting her teeth against the pain in her ankle.
She was about to perform the operation to move the RV when— "ROAR—GURGLE—!"
The sound startled Lily Hart so much she fell right on her butt. She slowly looked up...
Through the broken window above her head, a zombie stuck its head in, its massive mouth chomping down on empty air.
"Screw you!" Lily Hart summoned a cactus plant and shoved it right in the zombie’s face, cursing angrily.
The cactus, cupped in Lily Hart’s palm, instantly shot out countless tiny, hard spines, riddling the zombie with holes. It collapsed with a THUD.
Lily Hart breathed a sigh of relief and cautiously peeked out. ’Good, no people or zombies in sight. I can do this—’
The next second, she was pulled down, and Stan Sterling clapped a hand over her mouth. She glared at him.
Stan Sterling pointed outside, signaling that the Zombie King was on the other side and that she needed to be quiet. Lily Hart nodded.
She huddled in the corner, a miserable look on her face. ’That was terrifying, absolutely terrifying. If Stan Sterling hadn’t pulled me back in time, I would have had a romantic corner encounter with the Zombie King.’
Outside, the Zombie King was slowly rounding the same corner Lily Hart had just taken. He was already tall.
Standing at his full height, his head was half a head taller than the walls, allowing him to easily see everything.
He strolled around nonchalantly as if touring his own back garden, his hands clasped behind his back, his sharp gaze sweeping the area.
Inside, Lily Hart held her breath as much as possible. She opened her Light Brain, muted it, and turned the brightness to the lowest setting.
She hadn’t used that function in so long that it took her two seconds just to find the page, making her break out in a nervous sweat.
Worst of all... the sound of the Zombie King’s footsteps outside was growing more distinct, as if he were pacing back and forth right behind the wall.
Under double the pressure, Lily Hart divided her attention, listening for the Zombie King’s movements while navigating the interface.
She quickly paid one thousand points and pressed the confirm button. After, she let out a huge sigh of relief. Just as she expected...
She and Stan Sterling appeared inside the RV. The RV, unable to materialize inside the small building, had parked itself in an open space not far away.
The familiar surroundings instantly put Lily Hart at ease. The Zombie King also noticed the change immediately.
He spun around. Their eyes met through a dilapidated wall. Lily Hart grinned at him, made a face, and stuck her tongue out. "Nyah nyah nyah~"
The Zombie King couldn’t help but smile back, his long, sharp fingernails tapping against his body, making a faint sound.
Her smile was bright and generous. Under the azure sky, she seemed exceptionally pure. Suddenly, he didn’t want to eat her so quickly anymore.
’Playing with it slowly, savoring it bit by bit... that is the best way to respect one’s food.’
The Zombie King lifted his leg and walked over, one step at a time. Inside the RV, Diana Sharp and Tina Jacobs were completely baffled. How did they suddenly end up in the middle of nowhere?
And why was a tall zombie walking toward them from a short distance away? The sense of pressure was immense. The two young women huddled together instinctively.
Lily Hart was just about to drive the RV back to Fortune Base when she glanced over and saw the Zombie King relentlessly walking toward them.
Now she was full of confidence. She stood with her hands on her hips, brazenly waiting for him to approach.
"Woman, you are very interesting." The Zombie King’s thin lips parted, his scarlet eyes fixed on her.
Lily Hart crossed her arms, looking at him with disdain. "You’re not going to follow that up with ’You’ve successfully caught my attention,’ are you?"
The Zombie King froze. ’This woman can read minds? How does she know my thoughts so completely...?’
"HAHAHAHAHA—" Seeing his reaction, Lily Hart knew she had guessed right. ’Zombies really are simple-minded creatures.’
The corner of the Zombie King’s mouth twitched up. He copied her, crossing his arms and tapping his fingers against his biceps.
"Correct."
That single, simple word made Lily Hart’s smile vanish instantly. She pouted and said unhappily, "You’re sick!"
Then she pressed the button to drive the RV, which followed the route she had pre-set at high speed.
In the blink of an eye, the Zombie King was left behind, his figure disappearing from view. But Lily Hart knew this was far from over.
’That guy has his eyes on me now, and he wants to literally eat me!’
’Frost Shaw said I have something on me that attracts zombies, but what could it be? I’m all alone in this world.’
’Other than a badass system, I have nothing... On what grounds does he get to eat me?!’
’It’s so unfair!’
The RV drove on automatically. The Zombie King stood motionless. A High-level Zombie emerged from the shadows.
It spoke in a low voice, in the zombie language, "My King, should we not capture her?"
The Zombie King shook his head slightly, a faint smile on his lips. He turned to look at his subordinate. "No. Without my command, no zombie is to touch her."
