Chapter 102: Mini Program Success
Frost Shaw: "Huh? How do I do that?" He silently shut his mouth and went to figure it out on his own.
After studying it for a long while, he scribbled on a piece of paper and drafted a rough chart, listing the products and their corresponding prices.
It was clear enough, but with hundreds of items in the convenience store now, he wanted to add a picture for each one.
But that could only be done on the Light Brain. After another round of fiddling, a reasonably complete price list was sent to Lily Hart’s Light Brain.
Lily Hart glanced over it. The prices were all correct—double the usual—and they even had pictures. Simple and clear. She forwarded it to Logan Holland.
After Logan Holland received it, he meticulously went over it from top to bottom. Only after confirming there were no errors did he send it out to the others.
Everyone’s first reaction was, ’This is so cheap! Is Boss Hart running a charity?’
Little did they know, Boss Hart was making a profit with a conscience—earning money without feeling too guilty about overcharging.
The quantities were quickly decided: two thousand bottles of mineral water to start, five hundred cups of instant noodles in various flavors, and two thousand loaves of bread.
The procurement order was a decent size. When it arrived on Lily Hart’s Light Brain, she was in the middle of discussing the online supermarket with Frost Shaw.
"What do you think?" Lily Hart asked.
After all, Frost Shaw was responsible for the convenience store, and he did most of the work. Her job was just to give orders.
"We can do it," Frost Shaw agreed. ’Whatever she wants to do, I want to support.’
So the two of them began to explore the online supermarket function, which was already a feature within "Lily Hart’s Convenience Store."
The process was similar to opening an online store in the 21st century: you upload product photos, set the prices, shipping fees, and so on. It was all quite simple.
Since they had just prepared the photos and prices for the price list, they could use them directly.
Working together, they got it set up quickly. It was basically a mini-program where you could place orders directly.
Lily Hart tested it out herself by buying a bottle of mineral water. If the exact address wasn’t clear, you could just use the positioning feature.
In no time, an unopened bottle of mineral water appeared on a nearby desk, with a small receipt attached to it. A few lines were printed on it.
"Customer: Lily Hart, Order Time: 11:35."
"Item: Mineral Water x1. Tear off this receipt to confirm delivery."
"Thank you for shopping at Lily Hart’s Convenience Store. Please come again."
"Order Number: 254507080001."
Lily Hart tore off the receipt, and the mini-program on her Light Brain immediately updated to "Order Complete." ’It’s pretty official and professional,’ she thought.
She exchanged a look with Frost Shaw beside her, and a smile slowly spread across both their faces. Lily Hart said, "I’ll send it to Leo Colby to test."
She then sent the link for the online supermarket’s mini-program to their small four-person group chat, which included Lily Hart, Frost Shaw, Roman Rowe, and Leo Colby.
Since Light Brains had to be purchased with Crystal Cores, not everyone had one. The five kids, of course, did not.
After sending the link, she @’d Leo Colby and Roman Rowe, asking them both to test the mini-program.
Less than five minutes later, Roman Rowe sent a photo. He was holding a small spicy stick and wrote, "You’re amazing, Boss Hart!"
Leo Colby also sent a photo of a bottle of mineral water standing on his desk, along with a thumbs-up emoji.
Lily Hart nodded, satisfied. She then forwarded it to Zelda Whittaker, adding a message: "Base Commander Whittaker, this is a new mini-program I’ve set up. You can buy anything from the convenience store on it~ Let me know if you have any questions."
When Zelda Whittaker of Bloomfall Base received the message, her eyes widened in shock. ’I’ve missed Boss Hart so much while she’s been gone!’
Even though there was a scratch-off machine right outside the base, she still missed being able to buy anything she wanted from the convenience store.
She immediately followed the instructions, purchasing necessary supplies like mineral water and instant noodles. After paying the required points...
In less than a minute, the items she had just purchased appeared on the office desk in front of her.
Zelda Whittaker leaped up in excitement, still in disbelief. She looked all around—there was no one there, not even a ghost.
The items had appeared completely out of thin air, without a single warning or sound. ’Boss Hart is just too incredible!’ Zelda Whittaker marveled once again.
Lily Hart also received feedback from Zelda Whittaker: a sixty-second voice message. She frowned as she played it.
Just as she’d expected, it was a stream of nonsense—a slightly-too-excited Zelda Whittaker rambling on incoherently with words of gratitude.
Lily Hart breathed a sigh of relief. ’As long as it works without any issues,’ she thought. The delivery service was real, and it completely ignored distance.
It was like combining a delivery service with an online supermarket, killing two birds with one stone. The only thing was, the prices were double what they were in the physical store.
But no one cared. They were just thankful to be able to buy supplies at all.
The price wasn’t the point.
She decided to just share the mini-program with Logan Holland. That way, the person in charge of procurement at Central Command could place orders directly.
No more need for them to act as go-betweens.
When Logan Holland received the mini-program, he was shocked as well. ’I can’t believe Boss Hart is this efficient!’
He opened it and took a look. It was very professional and clear, and the page design looked high-end and impressive. In reality, it was just a default system template.
Unsure if delivery would work over such a great distance, Logan Holland tentatively placed two small orders. After paying for the items and shipping...
He waited patiently, expecting it to take two or three days. He never imagined that in just two or three seconds, the items he’d ordered would appear right in front of him.
He excitedly picked them up to look them over and accidentally tore off a receipt. The items were identical to what he’d get in the convenience store. ’This delivery speed is insane!’
Logan Holland even sent a message to Lily Hart, asking, "Can this mini-program be shared?"
Lily Hart replied, "Of course. It was made for you guys to use, but about the prices... you understand."
Logan Holland sent back a furiously nodding emoji. "I get it, I get it! The delivery costs must be enormous. It’s only right for you to make a profit."
Lily Hart sent him a thumbs-up emoji. ’Good, he gets it. No need to waste time explaining.’
With that matter finally settled, Lily Hart let out a huge sigh and chugged a large glass of water. ’I never knew being a boss was this exhausting...’
She collapsed into her chair, her eyes vacant and her expression blank. She didn’t even feel like talking.
Frost Shaw, sitting beside her, glanced at Lily Hart several times. He looked like he wanted to say something but held his tongue.
By noon, the group gathered at the dining table again, ready to eat. For Roman Rowe, mealtime was the happiest part of the day.
He spent the rest of his time helping out at the convenience store. While it wasn’t tiring, it was pretty boring.
Only mealtimes could truly get his spirits up. He said excitedly, "Boss Hart, you’re a genius! How did you even come up with something like this?!"
Lily Hart accepted the praise, but mentally passed it on to the system. "You’re the genius. You guys have everything."
The system seemed to chuckle. "There are many more features awaiting development~"
The system said that every time she leveled up, and Lily Hart had always thought it was just making empty promises. She never expected it was telling the truth.
If you just took the time to explore it patiently, there really were tons of useful—and cheap—features.
For example, the online supermarket, home delivery, the scratch-off machine, the lottery, and so on...
Lily Hart was filled with anticipation. What other new features were waiting for her to discover? She was, at heart, just a girl who loved management sims.
