Chapter 94: All Consumption Paid for by Boss Hart
’The trip back to Central Command will have to be pushed back again,’ Logan Holland thought. He just hoped the fruit basket in his spatial storage would last.
He wanted to take it back for his wife and kids to try, and it would only be delicious and fresh if he got it to them soon.
As Logan Holland and his bodyguard left, the person who had been recounting Jason Lynch’s dark history also slipped away, a smug smile on their lips.
There were too many customers, so she didn’t have time to notice such small details. She was focused on collecting money. Missing one payment was a small problem, but missing too many would be a huge loss.
Besides, she always insisted on "pay before you scratch." She even playfully threatened them: if you scratch without paying and win the grand prize, I won’t honor it.
Everyone put themselves in her shoes. Although they felt Boss Hart wasn’t that kind of person, their instincts for self-interest made them choose to pay before scratching anyway.
As closing time approached, Lily Hart received a system notification: the scratch-off ticket machine placed at Hope Base had sold out.
She did a quick calculation. She had been at Nutwood Base for four or five days. One machine sold eighty books, so five machines sold four hundred. That was fast.
That meant... she had earned 400,000! Plus the 200,000-plus from the sales at Bloomfall Base...
And adding the 190,000 she’d earned at Nutwood Base these past few days, the grand total was over 800,000! Oh my god! A fortune!
Just a few days ago, she was a poor kid with only 20,000 to her name, and now, in a flash, she was on her way to becoming a millionaire!
"HAHAHAHAHA—" Lily Hart couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
The customer in front of her watched her laugh so hard she was shaking, tears streaming from her eyes, and really wanted to know what she was so happy about.
After laughing out loud for a full two minutes, Lily Hart was a little tired, but she still couldn’t stop the corners of her mouth from turning up, her shoulders bobbing with suppressed giggles.
’This is amazing! It feels so damn good! Making money here is as easy as flipping my hand.’
’It’s so much better than working my butt off in the 21st century, slaving away like an ox for four thousand a month and putting up with crap every day!’
’Here, even though I have to get up early, all the money I make is mine. I can eat whatever I want, and I’m surrounded by handsome men.’
’This is paradise. This is what paradise is!’
The customers left one after another, and before going, none of them forgot to glance back at the giddily laughing Lily Hart. What on earth was Boss Hart laughing about?
Of course, they would never know. It was best to keep such good news to herself.
When Frost Shaw arrived, he saw Lily Hart and immediately sensed she was in a great mood. She was practically bubbling with joy.
"What are you so happy about?" Frost Shaw asked, leaning closer. The corners of her eyes were tilted up, her lips were turned up—everything about her broadcasted her good mood.
Lily Hart turned her head and saw his youthful face, his pair of sparkling eyes filled with curiosity as they looked at her.
Her mood instantly got even better, and her tone became much more cheerful. "Good news! Tonight, everything’s on Boss Hart! Whatever you want to eat, whatever you want to buy, just say the word!"
"Really?" Roman Rowe, with his shock of blond hair, leaned in too. If he had a tail, it would probably be wagging furiously.
"Absolutely, little bro." Lily Hart put on her best big-sister act, slinging an arm around each of their shoulders.
They both had amazing figures—broad shoulders, narrow waists. It seemed one had pecs and the other had abs. ’Oh no,’ she thought, ’I kind of want to pinch them...’
’So this is the joy of being a rich woman? A handsome man on each arm... this feels great...’
"What’s going on?" Leo Colby walked over, glancing at the three of them, each with a silly grin of some sort on their face.
Lily Hart met his probing gaze and declared breezily, "Whatever you want to eat, it’s on me tonight!"
Although she usually treated them anyway, today was different. That’s right, she was in a particularly good mood today.
A flicker of excitement passed through Leo Colby’s heart as well. It was safe to say that no one living in the apocalypse didn’t love good food.
So, the four of them huddled around Lily Hart’s Light Brain, trying to pick something, but they couldn’t agree.
One person wanted Korean barbecue, another wanted grilled skewers, another wanted bullfrog, steak—anything from a cow—and someone else wanted hot pot.
As for Lily Hart, she wanted to eat everything. Her eyes were always bigger than her stomach.
The five little ones also joined the ranks of those being treated. With nine heads crowded together, it was getting a bit cramped.
Leo Colby was the first to back away. He ran a hand through his hair and said, "Share the screen."
With a swipe of her finger, Lily Hart shared it with Frost Shaw, Roman Rowe, and Leo Colby. Suddenly, there was room to breathe again.
"Alright, alright, stop agonizing over it," Lily Hart said. "Just order what you want, but don’t get too much. Know your limits, okay?"
Everyone relaxed and began ordering what they wanted. There were options for single and double combo meals.
So even big eaters had nothing to worry about~
When the food arrived and filled the entire table, with some still left over, Frost Shaw and Roman Rowe went to the storage compartment to get another table.
They pushed the two tables together, and it was a perfect fit. Luckily, the RV was spacious enough, or they wouldn’t have been able to fit everything.
Now both tables were laden with food. Logan Holland had appeared outside the RV at some point, sniffing the air, swallowing his saliva, and staring without blinking.
The three bodyguards behind him were doing much the same, though their gazes were a bit more subtle...
"B-Boss Hart," Logan Holland called out cautiously, then felt he was being too abrupt and impolite.
But with such a feast before him, did that matter? Not really. The most important thing was to get some food in his belly first.
"Huh?" Lily Hart was busy arranging the hodgepodge of dishes to look more organized and appealing, planning to take a picture. Hearing him, she turned around.
’He doesn’t want to eat with us, does he?’ Lily Hart vaguely guessed.
"Could I spend some Crystal Cores to buy some of this food?" Logan Holland’s gaze was fixed on the steaming delicacies on the table.
"Huh?" Lily Hart replied subconsciously.
’Well, it’s not impossible,’ she thought, but since she was in a good mood, she said magnanimously, "Come on up and eat with us. We ordered too much anyway."
Roman Rowe’s glare shot over instantly, as if to say, ’What are you talking about? Too much? We can finish it all!’
Logan Holland was simply floored. He knew the importance of food better than anyone else there...
But Boss Hart had actually invited him up to eat with them. My god, what kind of angelic boss was she?
He wanted to cry.
Logan Holland led his three bodyguards into the RV. Frost Shaw even went and got four more chairs, so the thirteen of them could all sit down together neatly.
Lily Hart also took a picture, but she didn’t include Logan Holland and his men. She only captured the original nine people and the food on the table.
Except for Leo Colby, whose smile was a bit faint, everyone else’s face was overflowing with satisfied joy.
Lily Hart posted the photo to the "Human Social Sphere" without any caption.
After posting it, she turned off her Light Brain’s notifications and began to focus on eating!
The food on the table was a magnificent mess: mala tang, grilled skewers, deep-fried skewers, cold skin noodles, braised meat and cold dishes, wontons, noodle soups, pizza, burgers, fried chicken, and so on...
It was practically a whole night market condensed onto a table.
Lily Hart wanted to try a bit of everything, and so did everyone else. Thus began a buffet-style meal, with everyone moving around the tables.
But everyone was well-mannered and tidy, using serving chopsticks and spoons.
Want a meatball from the mala tang? Grab one. Want some cold skin noodles? Take a bite. The wontons look delicious, too? Have two!
