Chapter 207: Even a Fool Knows
Logan Holland cautiously looked around. The table was in the center of the RV’s first floor, a good distance away from the customers.
They were all engrossed in their scratch-offs, and the two girls were trustworthy.
He pretended to be nonchalant, fiddling with the cup in his hand as he said in a low voice, "The reason the major bases have been able to develop so quickly is because of the support from The Mysterious Clan."
"They’re responsible for providing resources, and we’re responsible for providing Crystal Cores. But then you showed up..."
’Lily Hart got it. In the eyes of The Mysterious Clan, she was as good as dead.’
She had shattered a balance that had been maintained for ten years. Originally, you needed five or even ten Crystal Cores to exchange for 100 milliliters of water at a base.
But at the convenience stores under Lily Hart, you only needed to spend one Crystal Core to buy a 550-milliliter bottle of mineral water!
If it were you, what would you choose?
It’s a no-brainer, isn’t it?
Lily Hart wasn’t worried about dying. As long as the system was with her, she was invincible.
She asked disdainfully, "Are they that tough?"
Logan Holland was shocked by her composure. "Tough doesn’t even begin to cover it! They’re unbelievably powerful!"
He continued, afraid Lily Hart wouldn’t believe him, "Let me put it this way, if someone from the direct bloodline of The Mysterious Clan were to make a move..."
"The four of them—Frost Shaw, Leo Colby, Owen Warren, and Seth—combined wouldn’t be able to lay a single finger on him."
Lily Hart quietly asked the system in her mind, ’What about you?’
The system let out a soft scoff, its mischievous chuckle sounding like it was cast from the same mold as Lily Hart’s.
Lily Hart felt reassured and immediately comforted Logan Holland, "What’s there to be afraid of? I’m just selling my scratch-offs. If they can’t stand it, they can try selling them too~"
’Logan Holland was speechless. If they could sell them, would they be this angry? They even blocked your mini-program in Central Command.’
But seeing her fearless demeanor, Logan Holland relaxed a little.
In his memory, Lily Hart had never been afraid, nor had she ever been defeated.
Just as they finished talking, an angry shout came from outside the RV, "Lily Hart!" making Logan Holland jump.
Lily Hart looked over. It was a man, plain-looking but with a tall and sturdy build.
She remained seated, merely uncrossing and recrossing her legs the other way. "What is it?" she asked lightly.
Logan Holland whispered a reminder in her ear, "This is one of The Mysterious Clan’s henchmen."
’Tch~’
’She wasn’t even afraid of The Mysterious Clan itself, so why would she be afraid of a henchman? He’s just a lackey, isn’t he?’
Seeing her so calm, the sturdy man’s anger flared even hotter, his eyebrows knitting together like caterpillars.
He strode forward and slammed a fist on the tabletop with a loud BANG—.
The tabletop was completely undamaged, without a single dent. His fist, on the other hand, instantly became red and swollen. The sturdy man’s brow twitched; he had a bad feeling.
He instinctively pulled his hand back, hiding it behind him.
Lily Hart: "Oh, here to dust the table for me?"
The sturdy man’s face turned ashen. After holding it in for a long moment, he came out with a very cliché opening line, "You’re Lily Hart! Who gave you permission to sell things here!"
"Yep, yep, that’s me." Lily Hart, legs still crossed, dangled her foot and nodded in agreement. "What about it? Does your family own Central Command or something?"
"Yes! What of it!" the sturdy man shouted, his arrogance flaring.
Before Lily Hart could slam the table and laugh, a series of clear, mocking peals of laughter erupted from the crowd, causing the sturdy man to glare around furiously.
"Rose Rhodes! What are you laughing at!" Anger brewed in the sturdy man’s eyes, his voice sounding as if it were squeezed from his throat as he spoke through gritted teeth.
"I’m laughing at you." Rose Rhodes stepped out from the crowd, her curly hair swaying behind her head like a blooming flower. Lily Hart uncrossed her legs, her interest piqued.
’Looks like these two know each other, huh?’
Logan Holland provided a timely reminder. "She’s from another one of the mysterious clans."
’A "person" from the clan, not a "henchman." Her status must be higher than his.’
Lily Hart had guessed right. The sturdy man was furious but didn’t dare say anything disrespectful, acting like a complete paper tiger. "Don’t stick your nose where it doesn’t belong! This is Shaw Family business!"
"Oh, the Shaw Family. How impressive," Rose Rhodes said without a trace of fear, her sarcasm levels at maximum.
Veins bulged on the sturdy man’s neck from anger. "Rose Rhodes, I don’t want to argue with you. Get lost, or I won’t be so polite!"
Rose Rhodes stood before the RV, as immovable as a mountain, a mocking smile fixed on her face. She just stared at him without saying a word.
The surrounding customers consciously moved away from the two, giving them space to avoid getting caught in the crossfire, then went back to their scratch-offs, not seeming too affected.
"Miss..." Lily Hart stood up, leaned over the table, and poked Rose Rhodes’s shoulder, her voice gentle.
Rose Rhodes turned back. A strand of her hair brushed against Lily Hart’s wrist, and a peculiar fragrance wafted to her nose. She said in a friendly tone, "What is it, little sister?"
"Move aside a bit." Lily Hart gestured to the side.
"Huh?" Rose Rhodes complied instinctively. Before her brain could even process it, she had already taken two steps to the side.
’Strange, her words have a kind of magic to them that makes you want to obey without thinking.’
BANG—
AHH—
Before Rose Rhodes could react, the sturdy man, who had been a meter away, was thrown through the air. He crashed heavily onto the ground in a spot that was deliberately empty.
No one had time to react to the throw; no one even saw who had done it.
All they heard was the sturdy man’s successive screams, "My arm, it’s broken—! Someone help—! Liu!!!"
’Listening to him made her teeth itch; she almost wanted to go up and give him a couple more kicks. Lily Hart clapped her hands in satisfaction. Let’s see you act so arrogant now, shall we?’
Rose Rhodes: ’So you asked me to move so you could have a clear shot, huh?’
The crowd suddenly became chaotic. Several men rushed to where the sturdy man had landed, pulled out a stretcher, and carried him away in a panicked retreat.
The series of actions was incredibly practiced. It looked like this guy got beaten up and carried off on a stretcher often. Lily Hart couldn’t help but laugh out loud with delight.
It made Rose Rhodes want to laugh too. Although she often saw Alex Shaw get taken down a peg, this was the first time it had been so satisfying and decisive.
’Lily Hart is truly a fascinating person.’
She turned back, smiled at her, and said, "Thanks for that, little sister."
Lily Hart laughed too. ’This big sister looks fierce, but she’s actually pretty funny.’ She called out, "Big sister, are you here for the scratch-offs? I can let you cut in line."
"I’ll take one, then." Rose Rhodes went with the flow.
The surrounding customers all surged forward again to keep buying scratch-offs, completely unaffected. They saw this kind of thing happen every day.
The Shaw Family, The Rivers Family—they didn’t know or care who they were.
Lily Hart casually picked one out for Rose Rhodes. "Here."
"Alright." Rose Rhodes hadn’t originally come for scratch-offs, but since she was here anyway...
Unexpectedly, she actually scratched off a great prize, making the eyes of the nearby customers turn green with envy.
"Are you selling that? I’ll pay any amount of Crystal Cores!"
"I want to buy it too! I want to buy it too!"
Rose Rhodes stuffed the prize into her space and said coldly, "Not for sale!"
Lily Hart also laughed. "Congratulations, congratulations. A prize like that is very rare, you know. Cherish it."
"Can I come up and have a seat?" Rose Rhodes asked, raising an eyebrow toward the inside of the RV. Seeing Logan Holland there, she wasn’t surprised at all.
