The Pulse War Scorpions could no longer affect the situation, leaving the Hai City Mother Empress with fewer and fewer cards to play.

After this exchange of long-range fire, the fleet and the desperately charging tide of Spine Zergs had finally clashed!

Although the Pulse War Scorpions were almost completely wiped out, their final volley bought the charging melee Swarm at the front lines a full minute.

And it was precisely this lull in firepower of over a minute that allowed the Swarm, like a surging flood, to charge to within a mere kilometer of the fleet.

Afterward, even with their Shields gone, all the Tanks began to spread out into formation while firing their Shotguns, but it was still difficult to stop the relentless Swarm, which was so dense the Zergs were even trampling one another.

The first to clash with the Tanks was the Black Spine Zerg Swarm emerging from the local Wormholes. Their smaller size allowed them to come directly out of the smaller Wormholes.

Meanwhile, the powerful Tier Two Tiger Spine Zergs, which posed a major threat to the Tanks, had to crawl out from the large Wormhole at the border between the two cities, following at the rear of the entire Swarm.

This, at least, gave the front line of Tanks a moment of respite.

After all, it was still difficult for a Tier One Black Spine Zerg to break through the Lv19 Flying Wing Tank’s shell Defense of 200. At most, they could only leave some dents or gashes.

But close-quarters combat was a huge disadvantage for the Tanks. After all, the number of Flying Wing Tanks was limited, with only sixty in total.

Even if each Tank was comparable to a Tier Two Peak Zerg, they were still insignificant compared to the terrifying scale of the Zerg Race, which numbered in the tens of thousands.

Moreover, what the Tanks feared most was being swarmed and surrounded, which would negate their greatest advantage: their incredible mobility.

Therefore, before the Tier Two Tiger Spine Zergs could reach the front lines, Chen Yanyan immediately ordered the entire fleet to fall back, creating distance from the Swarm and making room for the Thirteenth Division’s elite forces to enter the battlefield.

However, just as the fleet broke free from the harassing Black Spine Zergs, dozens of tall, humanoid Zerg People suddenly burst out from within the Swarm!

They stood over three meters tall, with insect-like triangular heads, and their bodies were covered in yellow-and-black armor plates. They possessed six limbs. A pair of thick hind legs, shaped like a grasshopper’s, supported their entire bodies, allowing them to walk bipedally.

Meanwhile, the two pairs of forelimbs on their torsos had differentiated into pincer-like spurs flanking their long necks, as well as long arms with hands that gripped sharp blades made of Giant Mandible material.

These bizarre, humanoid Zergs were the perfected form of the Samurai Hunter Zergs, which the Hai City Mother Empress had hatched and cultivated through constant iteration!

The previous crude, stitched-together human-zerg hybrids had been phased out.

Human brains were transplanted directly into the Zergs’ heads, causing their necks to become unnervingly long and slender.

Compared to their predecessors, the details of these Samurai Hunter Zergs’ limbs varied greatly, but their overall body structure remained largely the same.

This meant that although they were mass-produced, their appearances after metamorphosing into their complete forms were no longer uniform. The final look depended on the specific human brain implanted and the different Superpowers that had Awakened from the human cells.

Furthermore, a more advanced and seamless integration process had significantly reduced the new generation of Samurai Hunter Zergs’ size. They now stood at around three meters, not much taller than the average two-meter-tall human Genetic Warrior.

However, their debut on the battlefield nearly caused the fleet to suffer devastating losses!

If not for Chen Yanyan’s swift reaction, this group of aura-concealing, blade-wielding Samurai Hunter Zergs would have sliced the Tanks to pieces as if they were cutting vegetables.

But even so, their explosive speed far surpassed that of the reversing Tanks. Several Samurai Hunter Zergs powerfully kicked off the ground and landed on the hoods of the rearmost vehicles.

The spurs on their necks stabbed straight through the engine covers. Then, they swung the flesh-and-blood blades in their arms down into the Tank’s cockpit, impaling the driver through the chest.

The Zerg was only knocked off when the Shotgunner in the Tank’s rooftop observation turret opened up with a frantic barrage.

The grievously wounded driver endured the excruciating pain and, on the verge of death, turned the Tank around. He then slammed his foot on the accelerator before collapsing over the steering wheel, losing consciousness.

This Tank managed to carry its crew away from the battlefield, but the others weren’t so lucky. Their engines were smashed to pieces, leaving them stranded before the Swarm. They were quickly engulfed, becoming isolated islands at the mercy of the Zergs.

Chen Yanyan gritted her teeth. She had no choice but to order a retreat for now.

The reappearance of the Samurai Hunter Zergs had dealt the fleet a heavy blow.

Luckily, in the next moment...

Dozens of fully-armed members of the Tier Two Battle Group...

Finally joined the battlefield!

They wielded hastily forged Giant Mandible Long Sabers, moving to stop the continued assault of the Samurai Hunter Zergs.

At the same time, the roar of heavy gunfire echoed from mid-air. A group of Genetic Warriors with yellowish-green Membrane Wings, also wielding Machine Guns, had arrived on the battlefield.

Leading them was Shen Jie, whose gaze locked with that of a Tier Two Late Stage Samurai Hunter Zerg still lurking within the Swarm...

In the eyes of both,

an intense killing intent flared to life!
