Chapter 354 - 191: Future Situation, Seeing Betty Again, Decisive Battle Approaches
"Killing a High-tier Mother Empress so quickly will definitely draw the attention of even higher existences."
"You’ll bring disaster upon yourself."
Lin Feng frowned slightly.
"The Zerg Race’s Cosmic Life forms will intervene?"
Ling Yi swallowed and nodded.
"If too many High-tier Mother Empresses are lost in the same region within a short time, it could trigger a patrol mission."
"My advice is to wait until a large number of High-tier King Spine Zergs appear, and until a Tier Three Late-stage Mother Empress is born..."
Lin Feng knew about King Spine Zergs. Their birth protocol was activated whenever humans killed a Mother Empress, designed to counter the Tier Three Awakeners among humanity.
’But what does that have to do with a Mother Empress reaching the Tier Three Late Stage?’
Seeing the hint of confusion on Lin Feng’s face, Ling Yi continued.
"A Tier Three Late-stage Mother Empress can synthesize large numbers of Tier Three Early Stage Sewn Zerg Species, like Tier Three Pulse King Scorpions, King Flame Armors, and King Hunter Zergs."
"The only drawback is that she can’t grant them Mental Realm abilities. As for physical combat strength, they’re no different from other Tier Three entities—more than enough to handle ordinary Tier Three Awakeners."
As she spoke, Ling Yi thought of the great battle about to erupt in the North.
"The battle for the Federal Capital. Millions of human survivors and over a dozen Zerg Race Mother Empresses have gathered there. A Tier Three Late-stage Mother Empress is sure to emerge after that battle!"
"When the time comes and the situation in Jin City has stabilized, you can make a trip there. Just leave Jiangnan to me."
Lin Feng’s eyes narrowed.
"You’ve already reached Taihu Lake?"
Ling Yi didn’t try to hide it, admitting it freely.
"Yes. But don’t worry, I’m only operating on the bottom of the western side of Taihu Lake. I won’t get in your way."
"The Hai City Mother Empress, however, has probably sensed something. It’s burning with impatience and will likely launch the final battle ahead of schedule. We need to be ready."
Lin Feng nodded and said nothing more.
Nearby, Liu Yueqi was playing a farming game with a clueless Jiang Chengcheng. Every time Chengcheng looked up curiously at the two by the window, the older girl would gently push her head back down.
Since returning to Lin Feng’s side, Liu Yueqi had witnessed too many incredible things. She understood that his current standing was something she could never hope to reach.
Before she could become a Tier Two Awakener, Liu Yueqi knew that it was pointless to know too much, so she had simply given up trying to understand.
For instance, the current conversation between Lin Feng and this mysterious woman, Ling Yi—both their relationship and what they were discussing—were worlds away from her own.
After finishing his discussion with Ling Yi about his future plans, Lin Feng closed his eyes to rest for a while.
Soon, it was lunchtime.
Han Yuxin came to get them, and the group left the office.
Since this was a discussion about an internal faction partnership, Lin Feng had Ling Yi and her group go to the second-floor cafeteria. He, on the other hand, was led by Han Yuxin to a luxurious private room on one of the upper floors.
Upon entering, Lin Feng finally saw an old acquaintance he hadn’t seen in a long time.
Princess Betty sat by the window. Sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains, illuminating her. Strands of golden hair at her temples shimmered, resting against a simple white blouse. The shape of her undergarments was faintly visible beneath the fabric, and below her waist, she wore a black, knee-length pleated skirt.
Her everyday attire was a far cry from her once regal and opulent look, though her hair was still braided and coiled at the back of her head, giving her a youthful air.
She looked like the beautiful girl next door from a sci-fi film.
’Come to think of it, she seems even younger than Liu Yueqi.’
When she saw Lin Feng approaching, a flicker of surprised delight also crossed Betty’s eyes.
Because Lin Feng’s strength was unfathomable.
This was crucial for their future collaboration.
So Betty took the initiative to rise, walk toward Lin Feng, and bow slightly. In a light, pleasant, and respectful voice, she said:
"It’s been a long time, Mr. Lin."
Lin Feng nodded. Betty had grown up in a royal household and was extensively trained in court etiquette, having specifically learned techniques for speech and pronunciation.
As a result, her voice was exceptionally melodious and pleasant to the ear.
The private room wasn’t large. There were only three people at the dining table, which was crafted from a single slab of marble: Lin Feng, Han Yuxin, and Betty.
As Lin Feng sat down, Han Yuxin and Betty took seats on his left and right.
"You may serve the dishes."
Han Yuxin waved her hand, instructing the server.
Soon, a series of river delicacies and mountain treasures were served.
After eating a large wild mandarin fish, Lin Feng spoke nonchalantly.
"So, what are your thoughts on this collaboration?"
Betty set down her soup spoon. She had been eating with impeccable etiquette, even sipping her soup in tiny, delicate mouthfuls. But seeing Lin Feng’s casual approach, she gradually relaxed.
Now, hearing his nonchalant question, she considered it for a moment before answering.
"First, thank you, Mr. Lin, for your long-standing support. It has allowed us to establish a firm foothold."
"We have now put down roots in Jiujiang City and established a stable order."
Lin Feng raised an eyebrow.
Jiujiang City was a major city in the Great River Basin, located in the northwest of Ganzhou.
Upstream from there was the Wuling region, which encircled Dongting Lake—the site Lin Feng had originally chosen for his permanent base.
That place was also destined to be the final battleground against the Zerg Race. If he lost, he would have to retreat further northwest, toward the continent’s center. But if he won, it would mean the end of their flight, and they could establish a true safe zone for humanity in this post-apocalyptic world.
On the map, Jiujiang City was the sole gateway west out of the Jiangnan Plain.
To hold the South, they had to defend Jiujiang, a major city of extreme strategic importance.
Otherwise, if it were breached by the Zerg Race, the vast, watery expanse of Dongting behind it would be completely exposed to their fangs and claws. Even Lin Feng would be unable to halt the Zerg Race’s expansion across a frontline hundreds of kilometers long.
