Chapter 236: Southern Frontier Zone

After a week had passed, in the eight night of the first world-event, not a single monster was within sight.

The Lewis Guild and the Vikings Guild had already anticipated it, albeit their preparations were nothing compared to Max and his Guild, given that they had been fighting against monsters while they were building their defensive tactics against the demon invasion.

Whereas Max’s Demon Hunters Guild did not participate at all, leaving behind the Monster Hunters Guild to wrack up contribution points in the Mirefall province.

As Max had already informed the monster hunters about the absence of the monster on the eight day, what remained in the Mirefall Province was the demon hunters and the Imperial Army, while the Monster Hunters Guild stationed in the Mirefall Province since last week returned to the Stormfall Province.

Max was currently in the main command camp near the Crow’s Crossing.

Over the past week, the Demon Hunters Guild established demon-hunting camps as their temporary forward bases throughout the threatened provinces.

Given their understanding of the ability of the Void Race, Max and his high-ranking guild members were able to calculate the distance that the Void Race could cover and anticipate the possible location they would appear.

These bases were positioned several kilometers behind the frontier villages.

Despite the possible emergence of demons behind the frontier villages, not monsters was within sight.

Clearly, the Demon Lord of Wrath’s army had already arrived and were resting not far from the monster tribes.

In the main command camp, Max, Danny, Matilda, and several high-ranking individuals in the Imperial Army, especially the High General, a rank just below the Grand Marshal. gathered in the Central Command Hall.

He was already an S-rank.

With him cooperating with the Demon Hunters Guild, Max doubted if they could ever lose.

Although it was already a common knowledge that only four or five early Demon Lord could naturally fight an S-rank human, due to the superiority of their race.

The innate characteristics of a demon was something that humans could not compare.

It was indeed absurd to parallel a Demon Lord to A-rank in human, but the humans simply based on the demon’s progression that could be parallel to humans.

In other words, demons also has a D to SSS rank on their own.

Hence, it was indeed truly terrifying to fight against many Demon Lord while only having a single S-rank human.

Although Max, this time, was confident for the S-rank human.

He was, after all, the patriarch of the House of Drakemont.

Lancelot’s Father!

Lancelot’s Father received the Imperial Commission in the Army and became the Imperial High General.

He was stern and treated Lancelot more as an Imperial Special Officer rather than his own son.

At this moment, as the high-ranking members of the Demon Hunters Guild and the Imperial Army were present in the Commander’s Situation Room, they gathered around at the two maps and a board.

The Southern Frontier Map showed the area from Willowmere in the north to the Ashen Expanse in the south, especially the border.

The Greyfen and other frontier settlements could be spotted between them.

From the past week, the frontiers settlements that failed to survive from the monsters’ aggression from the first night was able to be rebuild with more powerful humans residing to defend against them.

They successfully hold out until tonight, due to the participation of the players and the Imperial Army.

The Southern Frontier Map showed five different zones.

The Interior Support Zone was located on the willowmere to the northern side of Fenwatch Crossing.

The color marking on the zone was light green, conveying that it was relatively the secure part of the Southern Frontier.

It showed where the supplies and the reinforcements originate.

The area from the fenwatch crossing to the Crow’s Crossing was marked as yellow, conveying its status as a Central Military Zone.

It was the logistic and command center of the Southern Frontier.

The zone essentially represented the command, logistics, and reinforcements.

It was why the Crow’s Crossing in the map was marked with a large command symbol because the Demon Hunters Guild’s Main Command Camp was located there.

The Western Frontier Defense Zone—the western part of the southern frontier—was marked as orange.

It was one of the most detailed areas on the map.

It marked the Greyfen and the rest of the western frontier.

There were many camps on this area, and Gareth, the Deputy Commander of the Field Operations, were currently stationed here, coordinating with other Imperial General in the western frontier.

The Eastern River Defense Zone, covering the eastern river frontier, was marked as blue.

The river itself was one of the most obvious features on the map because it naturally divided the eastern frontier into different movement corridors.

The Imperial Army mainly stationed most of their officers after their agreement with the Demon Hunters Guild.

It turned out, the demon hunters were more proficient in fighting demons in the land rather than near the bodies of water.

Although they didn’t have knowledge regarding demons that appeared from the river, making them confident that demons would fight on land, their uncertainty in fighting against them caused the Imperial Army to take the responsibility instead.

Lastly, the Southern Border Zone.

It was marked as red.

The highest threat section.

Despite the higher possibility of demons appearing behind the frontier villages, Max and the Imperial Army high-ranking officers still concluded that most of the demons would invade through the southern border.

It was the most direct and easiest approach for the demons, given that the Rift Binder’s ability to summon rift was a bit random.

Furthermore, Max was confident that judging by the demons’ attitude, they would certainly choose the most direct approach.

It was precisely why he had Angelo, the Grand Magister, and Maurice, the Expeditionary Corps Commander, stationed in the southern border zone, albeit the latter was also a mobile reserve.

Max and the Imperial Army were fully prepared against the demons’ invasion...
