The moment Violet opened her eyes, she was back in the room. She knew she needed to test the space and ensure it was effective, so she picked up Dylan’s phone.

The moment she thought about the space, the phone disappeared from her hand in the blink of an eye. Then she closed her eyes and reached into her space, pulling the phone out effortlessly.

She stared at the phone lying in her hand and smiled. The first stage of survival was done.

Now that she had tested the space and knew it was working perfectly, her next step was to check the system and find a way to break through Leo’s resistance.

’System.’ she thought, and the blue translucent panel appeared in front of her.

"Why was I unable to use my mind push on Leo?" she asked. She remembered also feeling a sharp pain shoot across her head when she’d used the system earlier.

Leo’s resistance was high. Host is currently at Level One and possesses Level One penetration. Leo possesses 4/5 resistance.

Violet nodded, her mouth forming an "oh" as she made sense of the information before her. She reverted her mind back to her time with Leo earlier.

When she’d first seen his information, she’d glanced through quickly and hadn’t gotten a good look at the resistance percentage.

Now that she knew what the problem was, she needed a solution. She needed to understand how to work around it, in case Leo had a change of heart.

"System, how can I change that? What can I do to penetrate through his resistance?" she asked.

A ding resounded through the room and the letters on the screen shifted.

Host should increase penetration capability.

Requirement: Level Two unlocks after Mind Push has been successfully executed 12 times.

Current Progress: 2/12.

Warning: Attempting to force Mind Push against a target whose resistance exceeds the Host’s current penetration level is strongly discouraged. Doing so may result in headaches, nosebleeds, or, in severe cases, permanent damage to the Host’s cognitive functions. Proceed with caution.

Violet bit her lower lip, worry slowly creeping into her heart. There was definitely no way she could complete 10 mind pushes within two days’ time. One of the many reasons was that she could only use two mind pushes each day.

She finally understood why she’d felt her head ache and had a nosebleed. It turned out using the system could harm her if she tried to push past her limit.

She bit her finger and began to pace around the room.

"Is there no other way?"

No.

She stood and crossed one arm over the other, her head slightly tilted back.

It turned out the system was not a manipulative device. For now, it couldn’t simply completely overturn the decision of another person or change their mind. It could only influence a person’s decision when that person’s resistance was low.

She needed to think of a way around this if she wanted to scam people out of millions.

Business people were always smart, and Leo was a good example, his resistance was high because he was an intelligent man.

She suddenly halted her steps.

If she couldn’t use her mind push on everyone, she could definitely use their flaws, desires and fears against them. She would exploit them to get whatever she wanted. To succeed in any scam, she needed her own intelligence.

She sat in the chair in front of the mirror, holding her phone in her hand. She opened her notes app and wrote out Leo Kings.

Then she proceeded to write everything she could remember from her past life about the Kings family. By the time she was done, she had written over four pages.

She yawned tiredly, covering her mouth with her hand and massaging her shoulders. Her body felt sore all over, but she knew there was no time to rest. Not yet.

It took an extra hour to completely write out what she remembered.

Violet tapped her feet on the floor, pressing one finger to her temple as she studied her notes.

In her past life, Leo Kings did not inherit the Kings family fortune; it was rightly given to his elder brother, who was his rival.

During his grandmother’s birthday, she introduced Frederick as her heir, and within a week, control of the Kings empire was handed over to him.

Violet remembered this because Leo had not taken it well and had crashed into Frederick’s car, killing him. He was arrested and his face was all over the internet.

This piece of information showed how important his desire to inherit the Kings estate meant to him.

She decided to focus on that: the desire that was strong enough to make him kill his brother.

She lifted her head and stared at her reflection, and an unfamiliar face stared back at her. That was when she realised she still had her makeup on.

Opening her camera, Violet took a photo of herself.

"Kierra Adams, who worked with Jill and Jones." She sighed. She had not planned for that.

Now she had to make Leo believe she truly worked with them and was directly involved in their newest development project, which was the building of an ultra-modern city.

Violet spent the next two hours researching the company.

She yawned tiredly, and slowly her head fell onto the table. Her chest rose and fell slowly, and her breathing gradually evened out. No matter how much she wanted to resist it, she couldn’t fight the human nature of sleep.

The next time Violet’s eyes opened, it was already 9am in the morning. She rose up slowly, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand as she slowly adjusted to the light.

Morning sunlight streamed into the room through the floor-to-ceiling window at the side.

Violet looked disoriented. She was still in last night’s clothes, and the makeup from the night before was still on her face. Strands of hair covered her face and she brushed them off with her hand.

’Can’t believe I fell asleep.’ Violet said slowly, puffing air out of her mouth.

Her phone lay on the table.

She took her wig off first, laying it gently to the side. After she was done, she walked into the bathroom. She brushed her teeth and took a bath.

Violet adjusted the tie on her bathrobe as she walked to the sitting area, where the box of clothes she’d ordered lay.

The plates she’d used the night before had been removed, and the sitting area was clean. She had no idea when the butler had come around.

Violet slipped into a pair of trousers and a white top and returned to the table. She rubbed her stomach, feeling a slight ache from hunger.

She called the butler and had him bring in her breakfast. However, she made sure to avoid him. If she was living as Kierra Adams, then no one must see Violet Sullivan in this hotel.

When she was done eating, she immediately went back to her research. By the time she was done, it was already 2 pm. She had also come up with an idea for how to change Leo’s mind in less than a day.

She stretched her arms over her head, loosening her locked muscles.

’Now, let’s get started.’ she said under her breath, a sly smile forming on her face.
