Chapter 80: Arrived Floor 9
The new passage rose at a steady incline, its walls smooth and deliberate where the rest of the buried structure had been jagged and organic. Leon walked without haste. Behind him the great chamber remained silent, the mountain of ash that had once been the Buried Sovereign already settling into the black stone floor.
The two relics in his inventory—the yellowed shard and the larger incomplete core—no longer pulsed. Their resonance had ended the moment the sovereign died. Whatever link they had shared with the sealed presence was severed permanently.
The Aura of the End-Game moved ahead of him, testing the air. The heavy pressure that had filled the lower depths was gone. In its place hung a clean, empty quiet, as though the floor itself was still adjusting to the absence.
After several hundred meters the passage widened into a long ascending hall. Faint system light began to appear along the edges of the floor—thin lines of pale gold that had not existed in the deeper bone galleries. The architecture was changing. The old buried design was giving way to something the current World System recognized.
Leon paused once and opened his status.

The gains from the sovereign had settled cleanly. His frame felt denser, the flow of power through his channels smoother and more absolute. He closed the panel and continued upward.
The hall eventually opened onto a wide stone platform that looked out over a different section of Floor 8.
Gone were the cracked white plains and bone ridges of the Bleached Expanse. Below him stretched a region of dark, glassy rock shot through with slow-moving rivers of pale blue mana. In the middle distance, geometric structures of black metal and crystal rose in clean, deliberate patterns—Concord architecture, but of a higher order than the forward fortress he had destroyed earlier. Watchtowers swept the land with steady beams of light. The air here carried a sharper, more structured density.
A system notification flickered at the edge of his vision, brief and formal.
[Deep Restriction on Floor 8 has been lifted.]
[Regional authority residual has been erased.]
[New transit pathways are now accessible.]
Leon stood at the edge of the platform and studied the layout through the Ashen Fog. The Concord still maintained a presence on this floor, but the deep, older power that had anchored the Bleached Expanse was gone. The system was already rewriting routes and permissions around the change he had forced.
A single transit gate stood at the far end of the platform—an arched frame of black metal filled with stable violet light. It was active and unguarded.
He walked toward it.
As he approached, the two relics in his inventory shifted slightly, as though reacting to the gate’s frequency. Not in warning. In recognition.
Leon did not slow.
He stepped through the violet light without hesitation.
The platform and the glassy highlands of Floor 8 vanished behind him. Cold spatial current wrapped around his body for a brief moment, then released.
When his boots touched solid ground again, the air had changed once more.
The sky above was no longer iron-gray. It was a deep, starless black, marked only by distant, slow-turning rings of silver light. The ground beneath him was seamless dark metal that stretched in every direction without visible horizon. Tall spires of the same metal rose at irregular intervals, their surfaces etched with circuits that pulsed in steady, cold rhythms.
A new system message appeared, clean and final.
[You have arrived at Floor 9, Sector 00: The Iron Circuit.]
[Local authority protocols are active.]
[Warning: Unregistered high-tier signatures will be challenged.]
Leon adjusted the collar of his duster coat and let the Aura of the End-Game settle around him once more.
