Are There Only Demonesses Left in the Cultivation Realm?

Chapter 7 - 4: You’re Feeding Me This?

"This is what you’re giving me to eat?"

Qiu Yuehan frowned at Lu Changyuan, then at the plain boiled noodles in the pot.

Lu Changyuan tossed two more logs into the stove. The crackling of the fire mixed with his impassive tone. "There’s pickled radish in the cabinet."

He’d pickled it himself.

Crunchy and crisp.

And very fragrant.

Qiu Yuehan took a deep breath and finally nodded. "I’ll get the pickled radish. Is there anything else?"

Lu Changyuan fell silent for a moment, then said as if making a great sacrifice, "The eggs the villagers just gave me... you can have them."

The Fairy didn’t turn around or say a word.

It had been a long time since she had eaten mortal food. She never imagined that the first time in so many years, it would be this.

Plain boiled noodles.

Not even any salt.

’Does this man even know how to cook?’

CREAK.

Lu Changyuan and Qiu Yuehan turned their heads at the same time.

A gust of wind from outside had blown the kitchen door open.

Outside the kitchen stood two trees—one was a pine tree, and the other was also a pine tree. Both looked as if they were about to be snapped in two by the wind.

Lu Changyuan said calmly, "It looks like it’s about to rain. Would you mind closing the door, Fairy?"

Qiu Yuehan glanced at Lu Changyuan. "I’m afraid we won’t be eating these noodles."

"But I’m very hungry."

"Hungry or not, we can’t eat."

Lu Changyuan slowly stood up and sighed. "They’re here for you. Now I don’t get to eat."

Qiu Yuehan nodded. In the firelight, her eyes seemed to glitter, stunningly beautiful. "Yes. But you have to return to the palace with me, so we’re in this together."

"What are our chances?"

Qiu Yuehan paused. "Of winning, or of surviving?"

’Even in her state, she thinks we could win?’

"What are the chances of winning?"

Qiu Yuehan shook her head. "Winning is impossible."

"Are you still joking with me at a time like this? Then what are the chances of survival?"

"Less than ten percent."

’This is insane.’

Qiu Yuehan was severely injured, and Lu Changyuan hadn’t even begun the path of cultivation. By all accounts, it was a hopeless situation.

But the Fairy remained unruffled. "You must have a plan."

’So your trump card... is me?’

Lu Changyuan stared. "Didn’t your master ever teach you to rely on yourself when you’re out in the world?"

A dry, raspy voice drifted in from outside the door. "You two, are you done talking? If you are, then let’s get on the road together."

The stench of blood suddenly filled the air, slowly condensing into a tangible mist. Vaguely, sounds of wailing could be heard within it.

Qiu Yuehan pressed her lips together. "It’s people from the Blood Demon Palace."

’Blood Demon Palace?’

’What kind of Sect is that?’

"The Demon Dao?"

"The Demon Dao." Qiu Yuehan suddenly drew her sword and swung it fiercely toward the door.

Lu Changyuan hadn’t expected it, and neither, of course, had the people outside. The woman attacked without any warning, putting her full strength into the blow.

A wave of sword light spread out, slicing the two trees by the door in half before piercing straight through the bloody mist.

It was as if the world had suddenly become clear.

But that was only an illusion.

The blood mist hadn’t completely vanished. It writhed in the air, seemingly about to coalesce again.

"That was the only strike I had."

After a day of recovery, Qiu Yuehan was still gravely injured and could only muster that single attack. After unleashing it, she wrapped an arm around Lu Changyuan’s waist and burst through the window.

Of course, she couldn’t take the risk.

If Lu Changyuan were killed by the people from the Blood Demon Palace, it seemed she wouldn’t survive either.

"Run up the mountain."

Without needing Lu Changyuan’s reminder, Qiu Yuehan carried him, transforming into a streak of light that shot straight into the mountain forest.

"I can’t hold on for long. A quarter of an hour at most. If you have a plan, you’d better tell me now."

Held fast in her soft embrace, Lu Changyuan said helplessly, "I’m just a mortal. What kind of plan could I have?"

Qiu Yuehan shot Lu Changyuan a hateful glare and sneered, "So you only have a plan when you’re dealing with me? What was all that about a Curse Pattern? You threatened me so easily."

Despite her words, if it weren’t for Lu Changyuan’s Demon Pattern, Qiu Yuehan truly wouldn’t have recovered enough to unleash that strike.

The two of them fled up the mountain path as the blood mist spread behind them, withering flowers and grass wherever it passed, as if devouring all life.

Lu Changyuan said suddenly, "Two in the Fourth Realm. Not even close to the Fifth Realm."

The Seventh Realm of Cultivation is divided into the Lower Four Realms and the Upper Three Realms.

Those two Cultivators from the Blood Demon Palace hadn’t reached the Upper Realm yet.

Qiu Yuehan said coldly, "I’m also only in the Fourth Realm, the Megrez Realm!"

But that wasn’t entirely true. Qiu Yuehan was only a tribulation away from breaking through the Lower Four Realms and entering the Upper Three Realms, becoming an Immortal in the eyes of mortals.

If she were at her peak, she could have taken on both of those Blood Demon Palace members at once without any trouble.

BANG!

A huge, bloody hand erupted from the earth, reaching for Qiu Yuehan’s leg.

SHRIEK!

In that instant, Qiu Yuehan couldn’t control her speed, and she crashed into a tree, taking Lu Changyuan with her.

"Cough."

The Fairy’s dark hair was stuck to her face. "If you have a plan, hurry up. Otherwise, we’re both going to die here today."

She was exhausted. The wound from the Heart-Eating Monk’s attack throbbed faintly, feeling as if it might tear her entire body apart.

Suddenly, the sound of something slicing through the air came from the distance.

The two from the Blood Demon Palace would be here soon.

Lu Changyuan shook his head, his mind clearing. "They’re so slow."

Qiu Yuehan nearly choked. "Enough nonsense. Do you have a plan or not?"

Lu Changyuan then looked up at the sky beyond the forest.

There was a white mark in it.

This white mark in the Cultivation Realm, known as Bai Hen, stretched across two domains and had existed for five thousand years.

"Lend me your sword."

Qiu Yuehan’s breath caught in her throat before she tossed the sword to Lu Changyuan.

The sword had been with her ever since she first began Introducing Qi into the Body. Lu Changyuan had already touched it yesterday.

’What’s the big deal if he touches it again?’

Lu Changyuan caught the sword smoothly. With the fingers of his left hand held together and his right hand holding the sword behind his back, he gave off an indescribably wondrous feeling.

’I really wasn’t wrong about him.’

’This gentle, jade-like youth is an Old Monster. Who knows how many tricks he has up his sleeve.’

The Fairy leaned against a tree, her white robes stained with dirt. She looked weak, but her words were firm. "If we make it back to the palace alive, then counting the last time, you will have saved me twice."

"Is this your way of telling me you’re the type to repay a kindness?"

Qiu Yuehan’s expression didn’t change. She neither denied nor confirmed it. "Surviving is what’s most important. Besides, my life is practically yours now. If I lose it, it’s your loss too."

Lu Changyuan gave the sword a flourish, finding it somewhat amusing. "Trying to bribe me now, you’ll say anything, won’t you?"

This Fairy from high in the clouds was even more direct than the people from the Hehuan Sect.

’I can’t tell if she’s a Fairy or a Demoness.’

The blood mist arrived in an instant.

The two figures materializing from the mist looked at Lu Changyuan in confusion. "A mere mortal?"

Lu Changyuan smiled. "A mere mortal for now."

The two exchanged a glance. "Kill him."

The blood mist surged forward, reaching Lu Changyuan in a flash.

With the Blood Demon Palace’s Bone Melting Technique, a mortal would die on contact, not even leaving a trace of bone behind. Yet Lu Changyuan stood his ground as if he knew nothing, simply watching the mist approach.

Just as the mist was about to engulf him...

SHIIING.

A flash of light tore through the mist.

It was another sword, a longsword as gentle as flowing water.

Someone said, "Senior Sister, I’m late."
