Chapter 12 - 9: Fairy, As Long as You Are Obedient

As the rain fell, so did heads.

Two heads, their faces still frozen in the gleeful smiles of spectators, thudded onto the ground. Wet soil caked their eyes shut before they rolled to a stop at the Town Elder’s feet.

Those were the two from the Blood Demon Palace.

The Town Elder’s expression changed in an instant. He then wrapped himself in a blood mist and fled for his life.

"Bitch!!!"

A breeze swept through, and something fell from the sky. The Town Elder’s agonized shriek soon echoed across the landscape.

A closer look revealed...

It was the Town Elder’s severed arm.

"Quite the runner, isn’t he? Hah!"

An authoritative and imperious female voice drifted out coolly.

She was dressed in white, her face masked. A Carved Jade Flute was tucked into her belt, and she held a Raccoon Tail whisk. The hem of her robes was embroidered with a pristine white lotus.

Lu Changyuan asked, "Who might you be?"

"Hanyi of Miao Yu Palace."

’So it was Hanyi Master from Miao Yu Palace.’

’The Sixth Realm!?’

’No wonder the Town Elder fled so quickly.’

’So the reinforcements from Miao Yu Palace had arrived. There was no way to win a fight, so running was his only option.’

By all rights, Lu Changyuan should have been relieved, but his expression only grew more solemn.

Qiu Yuehan had sent two distress signals. One went to Xia Lianxue, who was nearby and arrived almost immediately. The other was sent back to the Immortal Palace. Calculating the time it would take for the signal to reach the palace, for someone to be dispatched, and for them to arrive... it should have taken at least ten days.

’This Hanyi Master... she arrived far too quickly.’

Lu Changyuan said in a clear voice, "Hanyi Master, are you here to rescue the two Fairies of Miao Yu Palace?"

Hanyi Master raised her hand, and an even larger Moonlight rose behind her, like the very moon descending to earth to illuminate the towering abyss.

She ignored Lu Changyuan, instead shouting coldly, "Xia Lianxue! How dare you conspire with the Blood Demon Palace to harm a member of our own palace?!"

Xia Lianxue’s mind was a tangled mess; how could she possibly answer?

Hanyi Master flicked her Raccoon Tail whisk, and Xia Lianxue was sent flying sideways, crashing through and felling several trees as thick as a man’s waist.

The impact allowed the Desire Demon to completely seize Xia Lianxue’s mind. She drew her sword and charged back toward Hanyi Master.

Hanyi Master seemed extremely surprised, frowning. "You dare to fight back against me?! So that’s it. The Desire Demon has taken control of your mind!"

The Raccoon Tail whisk swelled in the air, its long filaments blocking all of Xia Lianxue’s attacks. Then, like spider silk, they wrapped around her, binding her completely.

"Disrespecting your elders, colluding with the Demon Dao, and harming your own sect members... Xia Lianxue, there is no need to wait for a palace tribunal. I will expel you from the palace, here and now."

The fine, spider-silk-like strands pierced Xia Lianxue’s body like sharp needles. The Fairy’s white robes were quickly stained red. Her agonized screams echoed across the mountaintop, filling any who heard them with a deep, chilling sorrow.

In this binding that felt like it would crush her meridians, Xia Lianxue seemed to regain a sliver of her sanity, crying out miserably, "True Master... I didn’t do it!"

She could feel it.

She could feel the Realm she had painstakingly cultivated for over a decade slipping away.

Hanyi Master was destroying her Realm!

"No!!!"

The Fairy’s piercing cries came in waves, like a lotus flower in the rain being utterly torn apart, its pink petals withering and falling one by one.

Hanyi Master remained silent, merely increasing the power of her Raccoon Tail whisk. Amidst her painful struggles, the veil on Xia Lianxue’s face finally fell off.

It was a gentle and beautiful face, familiar like that of a childhood friend from next door.

Lu Changyuan stared for a moment, still finding her incredibly familiar.

But he just couldn’t recall where he had seen that face before.

Lu Changyuan sighed. "Hanyi Master of Miao Yu Palace, is it?"

Hanyi Master finally turned her head to look at Lu Changyuan. "And who are you?"

Lu Changyuan shook his head. "Let her go. You’ve already destroyed the Realm she worked so hard to cultivate. Are you really going to kill her?"

"What does it matter if I kill scum like this from the Righteous Dao? Besides, this is an internal affair of my palace."

The implication was clear: this was a private matter for Miao Yu Palace.

Lu Changyuan had no right to interfere.

But having no right was one thing.

This was Cultivation, after all.

It was all about doing as one pleased.

Lu Changyuan bent down, picked up Xia Lianxue’s fallen sword, and weighed it in his hand.

The sword seemed light, but it was actually quite heavy. Lu Changyuan raised the sword and pointed it at Hanyi Master. "The Yuyue Immortal Palace is as disgusting as ever. If you’re going to profit from your scheme and still pretend to be righteous, then today, I’ll clean house on Feng Xianlong’s behalf."

Only old monsters would know the name Feng Xianlong.

Feng Xianlong was the master of the current Palace Master. She had disappeared during a period of turmoil, hundreds of years ago.

She, Hanyi Master, had only been fortunate enough to learn the former Palace Master’s name when listening to Han Shui Master reminisce about the past.

Hanyi Master was stunned.

It wasn’t that she was intimidated by Lu Changyuan’s words—the Cultivation Realm never judged by talk alone. What she feared was the cold glint of light on the sword he held so casually.

’If I can’t dodge it...’

’I’ll die.’

Lu Changyuan had not yet entered the Immortal Dao, but he still had one sword strike left—a final strike at the cost of abandoning his Great Perfection in the Supreme Pure Spirit Forget Immortal Technique.

"Let her go."

Hanyi Master stared at Lu Changyuan. After a long moment, she slowly lowered the blood-soaked, barely breathing Xia Lianxue and asked with a frown, "Just who in the world are you?"

In the end, she was afraid. Afraid of the sword in a mortal’s hand.

Lu Changyuan didn’t answer Hanyi Master’s question.

Words suddenly appeared in his vision.

[The immortal item in Miao Yu Palace that can repair the Five Deficiencies Body is the Drunken Red Simurgh. It is a wondrous object of heaven and earth that has appeared in the last hundred years and has not yet been unsealed.]

[Xia Lianxue is the key to unsealing the Drunken Red Simurgh.]

’Why the fuck didn’t you say so earlier!? You even implied that Xia Lianxue wanted to kill Qiu Yuehan from the start. So your plan was for me to get close to Xia Lianxue through Qiu Yuehan?’

Lu Changyuan ignored Hanyi Master, instead picking up the unconscious Qiu Yuehan. He discreetly tapped her shoulder with his left hand.

’There’s no way I can go to Miao Yu Palace today. I’ll just have to rely on Qiu Yuehan to keep an eye out for this so-called Drunken Red Simurgh.’

’Now that Xia Lianxue is out of the picture at Miao Yu Palace, her own status should soar. It’ll be more convenient for her to look for a treasure within the palace.’

Hanyi Master waved her Raccoon Tail whisk, and Qiu Yuehan floated up to her side. "You still haven’t answered my question. Who are you?"

"That’s not important. What’s important is that you can leave now. Or... would you rather fight me right here and see which of us leaves this forest alive?"

Lu Changyuan’s gaze cut into Hanyi Master, sharp and painful. It was as if the man before her had seen through every one of her sordid schemes.

She hesitated, wondering if she should risk everything to kill Lu Changyuan here and now.

After a long silence, Hanyi Master gave a cold snort. She took Qiu Yuehan with her and vanished in a streak of light.

Only after watching the streak of light completely disappear into the curtain of rain did Lu Changyuan walk over to Xia Lianxue’s side.

The Fairy’s face was pale, and she was still tainted by the Desire Demon.

Even with her Cultivation, Xia Lianxue had been unable to completely suppress the Desire Demon. Now that her Cultivation was gone, she would soon enter the Desire Demon’s next stage: she would lose her human form and become a true monster.

The reason Hanyi Master hadn’t forcibly killed Xia Lianxue was because she was certain Xia Lianxue wouldn’t survive anyway.

Lu Changyuan helped Xia Lianxue up and held her in his arms. He reached out and wiped the blood from the Fairy’s cheeks. "How pitiful, to be schemed against like this. I can save you, but I wonder... how will you repay me?"

The once cool and elegant Fairy was now covered in blood and in a wretched state, but it couldn’t hide her alluring charm. In fact, her fall from grace only stirred one’s desire to torment her.

She seemed even more helpless than Qiu Yuehan had been back then.

"Do you want to live?"

The Fairy’s lips, stained with blood, trembled. She could barely speak, but he could still make out a single, faint word: "...want..."

So Lu Changyuan smiled. He tore open Xia Lianxue’s robes, looked at the Fairy’s delicate skin, circulated his Heart Method, and then began to measure the Fairy’s snow-white body with his hands, inch by inch.

After a moment, Lu Changyuan said cheerfully, "Found it."

And so, Lu Changyuan viciously thrust his hand into the Fairy’s abdomen.

"You must remember to repay me, Fairy Lianxue."
