Looking at the grave.

Much of what he lost his life in the Battle of the Dragon Land was buried in a joint cemetery in the Dragon Province. One of the reasons for the slower entry of Gandhian troops into the Dragon House after the war was because it took time to recover the bodies of enemy allies. But still, he said, he couldn't recover all the bodies. For this reason, even after the control of the Dragon House, a unit was formed to recover the remains of the war dead, and they were rolled out to the dragon conscription field more than once.

In that context, the remains of the mercenaries belonging to the mercenary regiment White Shield were recovered shortly after the war by members of the White Shield. Many of the members were eager to return home after their death. That's different from being ready to die wild wherever you are. It would be each one of them to die and become the soil of their homeland, or ascend to the sky of their homeland, but it would be a normal emotion to think that their homeland is better than being buried in a land that has nothing to do with it in particular.

But sending the wreckage home isn't easy. It's not a world where transportation has developed. There is no way to bury them in mass graveyards.

"The remains of those from Logner and Gandia appear to be delivered to their homeland. I've been talking to the Gandia Army earlier."

"... thanks"

The sky clears and the chilling winds of autumn rush through the cemetery. Numerous tomb markers engraved with countless names make us imagine Zalwarn's long history. It was the names of those who died in the Battle of the Dragon Warrior, some of whom were the names of mercenaries belonging to the White Shield, that were newly inscribed on its tombstone. The White Shield is not the only one. The mercenaries of The Pale Wind, the Gandhian soldiers and the soldiers of Zalwarn should be asleep beneath the tomb.

Most of all, not everyone who died in the Battle of the Dragon Warrior is sleeping in this cemetery. The Dragon House is a huge city compared to Myram and Gandion, and such graveyards dot every part of the city. It means they are not buried in one place, but dispersed and buried in various places.

The mass cemetery was home to a large number of people who had come to comfort the spirit of the war dead, and Quon also contributed flowers with those people and spoke to each and every one of them. The soul of what is dead is not there. The only thing buried under the tombstone is the carcass. It stops life activity and is just waiting for the meat mass and the fruitful object to return to the soil.

But still, he couldn't help but utter words. I have regrets. I blame myself. I have a real sense that I've done something I can't take back. Impossible.

This was the first battle for the White Shield that Kuon was not on the battlefield. It was a mercenary group called the White Shield that Kuon created for himself. In that battlefield, there was always a quon. I had to be there. It is the White Shield that acts for his purposes and works for his wishes. The members are following me, empathizing with Quong's philosophy and ideals.

It was Quon's absolute mission to protect themselves.

"No one would have died if I had been in the Dragon Warrior."

When Quon snapped, for a moment, the ambient air was nervous. He is followed by the White Shield executives. Dozens or so of non-executive members acted with him, but the members would not hear it.

Executives refer to Mana-Ericcia, Wald-Mastia, Iris, and Graham. The difference with other members is the sense of distance from Quon, to the extent of their role in the battlefield. but it was only remarkable that they could be entrusted with command on the battlefield, and it was natural for those people to become executives.

Although Illis is more like a Quon escort than an executive.

"That must not be said."

Graham's voice is tough as ever.

"Don't even think about it"

"I don't know... I'm here"

I can understand what Graham is trying to say. It's a matter of great acceptance. Regretting what's happened doesn't help. I can't change the past. Lost things, they remain lost. There's no way I can get my life back. You will never be able to return to the battle of the dragon warrior, nor will his shield protect his past companions.

"But I think about it."

If.

If Quon had been able to participate in the Battle of the Dragon Warrior, this would not have happened. There were no dead from the White Shield, and the damage to the entire Gandhian army could be contained. It was the Shield of Messiah that withstood the dragon's onslaught. The fact that the Zalwarn Army did not come with more destructive power than the Dragon would have made it easy to destroy the Zalwarn Army and other baby hands as if there had been one Quon.

"You knew it. He said this was the fight. You knew this was what it meant to be on the battlefield. This is what unprotected fighting is all about. If you receive an arrow, you will be hurt, if the blade touches you, you will be mutilated, and you will die from a hammer blow. That's the battlefield."

Graham's pale tone didn't seem to mean he was blaming Kuon. Maybe he's trying to educate me. Maybe he's even trying to get Kuon to decide where he's not ready.

"Battlefield......"

What floats behind Kuon's brain is the landscape on the other side of the shield. The appearance of an enemy ravaged by overwhelming irrationality is too pathetic to stand up to the front. The White Shield, protected by the Shield of Messiah, is precisely an invincible army that has not sent any enemy attacks at all and has seized victory with unilateral attacks.

Not accepting enemy attacks means not feeling afraid, and it also means that we have been fighting unrelated to tension.

There couldn't have been any casualties coming out of the White Shield, there couldn't have been any deaths. The White Shield has always been guarded by the Shield of Messiah, and if so, it has been able to do a lot of pulling as an invincible mercenary regiment. If this were another subpoena weapon, it wouldn't have.

If it was not the Shield of Messiah that Quon summoned, but the Chaos Blinger, the damage done to the enemy must have increased, but also the damage done to his fellow citizens.

The Shield of Messiah is certainly powerful. Completely indispensable shield. Absolute protection. It was Kuon and the White Shield mercenaries who had fought under that asylum. Of course, there were not many fierce men in the group other than Quon who had dived through many battlefields by then, and the two armed summoners, Illis, Graham, etc. know the real battlefields.

Quon, what do you think?

Kuon and I have not always deployed shields to fight. But the only time he doesn't use a shield is in the very limited circumstances in which he himself has to be an attacker, and whether that was what could be called a real battlefield.

"They would have lost their lives in another way, even if they hadn't died on the battlefield of the dragon conscription. Death is what it is."

"That's a trick."

"Whether it's a trick or not, it doesn't matter. I'm preaching my mind."

"Mindfulness…?"

"Dear Kuon, You should be more aware that you are the leader of the White Shield. The team is prepared to go to the dead with one of your orders. Only then did they fight without fear of death, defeat their enemies, and be killed by them, even on battlefields without you. Deciding not to have that death is nothing more than an affront to their determination and readiness."

Kuon tried to burn the sight of the collective cemetery to his eyes as he listened to Graham's sermon. Under an overly sunny sky, the numerous flowers dedicated to the standing tombstone must not seem to indicate the vain of the battle.

"No one will complain if they use the lives of their members successfully. For your sake, we will gladly die. We White Shields are not just mercenaries. It's all about fulfilling your dreams, your wishes, your wishes."

I don't feel like Graham's thoughts are mixed with madness, but none of the executives or members around him seemed to have any objections. I know Ellis with no other place to go or Mana and Waldo with whom I have a deep relationship think so. Being a newcomer, I also don't know that Graham, who joined his subordination by God, falls into those thoughts. But that's what everyone in the group thinks, it's hard to think.

But Kuon knows that Graham interacts more with the group than he does with him, the captain. At least, he must be more familiar with the inside of the White Shield than Kuon, and it's only with his efforts that he can act as a newcomer but an executive. I mean, it's more convincing than Cuon's personal assumptions.

Still, Quon didn't want any more members to die. To do so, he must become stronger himself. Getting stronger, doesn't just mean strengthening the flesh. It is of paramount importance that we build our spirit and increase the efficiency of the Summoning of the Shield of Messiah.

For example, if it is possible to protect the members of the Dragon Warrior while on the trail of Fort Vridia, there is no longer anything to be afraid of.

"Graham. Let's inscribe in your words, in your memory"

Kuon looked Graham in the eye. The eyes of your son at birth are as clear as ever. I wonder whenever I see it. Why did people like him come to Quon? Shall I say Quon unto the LORD, and cast my life?

Quon never thought he was special, etc. I was born and raised in a very ordinary family, I recognize that I am a general citizen, and there will be nothing to change that perception. That's all when it comes to it, although it's only unusual in that by chance you've been summoned to another world and somehow gained the ability to summon.

There are dozens of tenacious warriors gathered under such a human being. No, it's not just warriors. A large number of collaborators besides the combatants were gathered around him. What they want and what they want should be different from each other. Some may want a place, others may want fame. Some of them will have gathered attracted by the thunderous name of the Invincible Mercenary Regiment, and some of them brought to Swirl. "White Shield" is a collection of cluttered consciousness.

Do you think those people, like Graham, are not afraid to die for Quon?

But I want to protect everyone.

Graham remained a cool face, even as Quon told him. Next door, Waldo's in trouble. Iris is on the same Buddha top surface and Mana is smiling a little troubled.

"I have the power to do that. That's all I have. Of course, we know we shouldn't just rely on the Shield of Messiah. But I don't want to lose anyone."

There is pain.

Excessively painful pain, more than wear from the battle against the dragon, has stabbed Quon in the chest.

It was this morning that the unconscious Quon woke up during the battle against the Dragon. September 29th. Two days had passed since the Battle of the Dragon Warrior was over. In the meantime, Quon has been asleep for a long time, but it's still the two Iris and Mana who watched me sleep Quon. Graham ran to post-processing, and Waldo said he was sober and sleeping drunk at the victory celebration.

Waiting for Kuon to wake up was the first report since the establishment of the White Shield that there had been a death toll from war, and the number of those killed. No, numbers are not the problem. The fact that we have lost the dead has come to grips heavily.

It is an unquestionable fact that Kuon was unable to participate in the Battle of the Dragon Warrior, but that the dead were. If only Quon could go to the Battle of the Dragon Warrior, no one would have to die.

No, this would not have happened if we had been able to protect our fellow dragon conscripts while we were in Vridia.

Kuon blamed himself.

And I understand.

You can't stay like this.

As it is, we will continue to lose our people.

We have to be strong.

What can I do to do that?

"Well, I knew it. Master Kuon is kind. That's why we're all following you."

"You tried?

"No way. I'm just saying I don't care which way I fall"

Graham narrowed his eyes cool, but didn't know what his sincerity was.
