Armed Summoners - Black Spears and the Brave Men of the Other World

Episode One Thousand Five Hundred Ninety-Eight: Negotiations with Benoagard

When we entered Maldia territory, we had to stop at the king's capital, Maldion, first.

To greet Julius Ray-Maldia, the current king of Maldia, for his cooperation in this negotiation in Santorea. Maldia was princely Julius in power at the time as a result of the coup d 'état that took place in the middle of Gisellcourt's conspiracy. Though King Jugus did not intend to cede his throne for long, he said he offered to leave Michi when he realized that Leongand had shot Gisellcourt and that the conspiracy had ended in total failure. And Julius came to the throne, and Mardia was carried under the young king.

Maldia has lost much of its total strength due to civil unrest to bring in Gandhian troops led by Leongando and subsequent fighting. More than 10,000 troops were originally depressed to less than half, and anxiety could not be prohibited from the point of view of defence. As a measure to allay that anxiety, Maldia has asked Gandhia to submit, and Gandhian king Leongando allowed it. Being subordinate to Gandhia brought him under the asylum of a great power called Gandhia, thereby making him a disincentive to neighbouring countries. The hustle and bustle that attacking Maldia is synonymous with hostility to Gandhia means that we are preventing the battle from happening.

That's how Julius said he intends to improve his internal affairs while guarding against invasion from foreign enemies by Gandia's glory.

During your visit to Mardion.

And I'm honored that Maldia can be the bridge between Gandhia and Benoagard, he said. Gandia has asked Maldia to cooperate in the negotiations with Benoagard. Neither Maldia nor the ruling Power could refuse the request, and worked diligently for Benoagard. Maldia had a point of contact for negotiations with Benoagard. It was Gail-Safor, the former head of the Stone Brigade who caused the civil unrest, who, after the coup d 'état in Maldia, had responded to Julius' persuasion and had returned to Maldia. Julius seemed to think that there was no more reason to continue hostile to them than that Gail and others' civil unrest had been found to have been caused by Jugus' plot. However, we cannot ignore the damage Gayle and the other rebels have done to Maldia, and Gayle and the others admitted to carrying that sin and returning to Maldia on top of it. That means Gail and the others were aware that they didn't have the eyes to see the truth.

I guess we were shocked to learn that we were moving exactly as Jugus thought.

Gail said he had negotiated more than once with the Knights of Benoagard and that the point of contact was still alive. Julius used Gayle as a point of contact to negotiate with Benoagard in response to a request from Gandia. As a result, Benoagard showed his disposition to negotiate with Gandia.

When Setuna thanked Julius as Gandia's representative, he laughed, saying that the Boy King had only done what was natural as a subordinate country. Rather, it was Maldia who had to be thankful, and because of the mighty back shield called Gandhia, we were able to overcome the post-war chaos, he said.

Also in Mardion, Yuno was waiting. Yuno Lewe-Maldia was on his way to Gandhion as a messenger of Gandhian subordination with Gandhia and was immediately returning to Maldia.

Yuno is on his way to finding Setsuna with the momentum of flying. She already knew about Setuna's marriage to Eryl Alum and made a statement to celebrate her marriage, but she didn't seem very happy from the bottom of her heart.

"The princess must have been after the general, too."

Even without being escorted, I knew her favor far too well.

Yuno was supposed to accompany him to Santorea. He said he would participate in the negotiating table as a representative of the Maldia side who would lend the place.

"It is in the happiness of Yuno that we can stay at the side of Master Setsuna for a little longer"

Her words baffled Setuna. I'm glad you liked me, but I couldn't respond. She is the Princess of Maldia. Faria and Miliu are not on their own.

If we left Mardion, we headed north to Recondor and straight up to Santorea.

About six months have passed since the battle with Maldia as a battlefield.

During the carriage journey, Setuna and the others recalled the battle of Maldia and discussed it. In the end, it is an unquestionable fact that the Battle of Maldia was nothing more than what Gisellcourt had set up to succeed in the conspiracy, and that it was a completely pointless battle. If Gisele Court hadn't even held a rebellion, if he hadn't even committed a conspiracy, there would have been countless things he had done without losing his life. But it's over now. The bereaved life will not return. I won't cover up the fact that I took it.

I just have to hold it.

Eventually, the line reached Santorea.

Santorea is the northernmost city in Maldia.

Sometimes close to the Benoagard border, it is a city that has been used for many years as a place to interact with Benoagard, with a rich Benoagard influence in the landscape. Long cities in the north and south change their appearance dramatically in the north and south. With all the Mardian-style buildings on the south side and many Benoagard-style buildings on the north side.

It was Gail-Safor who used such a long-standing relationship with Maldia and Benoagard, and it was the Maldia government that used that Gail-Safor to set up a seat for this negotiation. Everyone is using someone. So is Gandhia, and so is the rest of the country. That's not a bad thing or anything. Used and utilized.

Apparently, that's how the world is turning.

If they are used anyway, they should be used by trustworthy opponents, and in that sense, Setuna would be happy. I use Setuna because I am a trusted opponent such as Leongand and Ein and I am not dissatisfied with the way they use Setuna.

"It looks like the people of Benoagard haven't seen you yet. We often have to wait for you in Santorea."

Although Yuno seemed to be sorry, there was no way she was bad, and Setsuna didn't even care.

"What, you just have to stretch your wings slowly until you see the Benoagards"

Setuna said so, and let him try to stretch. In fact, it was a pleasure to get some time to rest. Since Ichika, there hasn't been much of a time to rest my heart. He returned from Ishika to the King's capital and was told that he could rest for a little while and that he would marry politically. This is not about where my heart rests.

It was the other day that I was ready, engaged, and finally, I could afford it in my heart. Until then, there was no room or anything at all, and I had to rot to calm Miliu or Sheila, not if I was spending time for myself.

I can finally calm down.

Just a few moments before Benoagard's negotiators arrived, Setsuna was able to rest plenty, even as she dealt with Miliu, Sheila and Yuno.

It was two days later, on September 13th, that the negotiators on the Benoagard side arrived in Santore.

Sid Zan-Rufaus presented himself to Santorea as a negotiator, as imagined by the Knights would naturally be the Knights executive, or thirteen knights, if he were to be the representative of Benoagard, ruled by the Knights. There was no sign of Bain Belbail Zan-Lanacourt, Rowfa Zan-Seivas, and it was strange that Terius Zan-Kayloon was accompanying him. There seem to be twenty other knights of the Knights, serving as their perimeter guard, but if you know the strength, you can only hope you don't need that.

Negotiations were to take place at the Maldia military facility in Santorea, in the conference room.

From the Gandia side, Setuna was to be represented and the military teacher Ayn-Rajar was to participate in the form of an escort. From Maldia, Yuno will be present as a seer.

The representative of Benoagard was Sid, as in the case, and Terius was present.

The negotiations themselves proceeded without any obstacles, without even minor problems.

Sid has indicated that Benoagard is prepared to respond to Gandia's request and that it also wishes to respond in the form of an alliance. Ein smiled at Setuna for more liking than he could have imagined, but he is quickly pulling in a grin. I guess I perceived something swirling deep into Setuna's mind. At the time of the negotiations, Setsuna had tried not to think about Ragna at all, nor was she hostile or averse to Benoagard. The loss of Ragna was due to Setuna's helplessness.

Had we been able to extract the true power of the black spear, we might not have had to lose Ragna. Even if he was no match for the thirteen knights, starting with failing to ring, he could have escaped from Benoa with Ragna. It was transferred from the vicinity of Benoa to Gandia Kernall. It could also have broken through the XIII knight's line.

Asking Benoagard for the cause of Ragna's death is just a transfer of responsibility and only an escape from reality.

With that in mind, Setuna was able to remain calm even at the negotiating table. That is also significant that the negotiator on the Benoagard side is Sid. Sid was still a conversationalist. He was keen to bring Setuna into the Knights, and he hasn't given up on Setuna yet, apparently, and during the negotiations, he troubled Setuna by saying such things.

Ein, who had been entrusted with negotiating with Benoagard, showed his disposition to respond without a single word or two to the offer of the Benoagard side. There is no hope or fulfilment other than to jump over friendships and have ties as allies.

Benoagard was the country that could be the biggest obstacle to small group reunification. Let's forget about the fact that such a country is hostile, and let's put our hands together. Ein, who had his head troubled by the difference in power in the event of an intensification of hostilities with Benoagard, couldn't help but rejoice in letting go.

There was no longer anything unknown in Gandia about the strength of the thirteenth knight. Threatening force that can maintain an advantage even when dealing with multiple armed summoners. Nor is that true strength, and the fact is that even a black spear setuna could not be fattened if real power was exerted. If the thirteenth knight were to fight Gandhia with all his might, its victory and defeat would not be obvious.

Gandhia is more overwhelming in terms of force differentials. But how about a war power difference? If all thirteen knights freed their true bodies, they would cease to make sense, for example, of force differences.

The thirteenth knight wields his power by the great protection of God.

It's not just a human opponent.

Because we know that, Leongand tried to negotiate with Benoagard and at least defuse the hostilities. He was about to enter into a national deal and build up a friendly relationship.

But more than Leongand thought was about to be realized by an offer from the Benoagard side.

It is no exaggeration to say that if an alliance with Benoagard is achieved, there will be no Gandhian enemies in the small group of nations - and during the break of negotiations, Ayn-Rajar's nose went wild too. He was rarely excited. Not only will the problem be solved, which would have been the seed of headaches since we learned of the strength of the XIII knight, but it could also be a powerful ally.

If the great Ethosea and the powerful Benoagard become collaborators in the reunification of the small group of nations, the cause of reunification will accelerate.

To the concept Ein spoke of with excitement, Setsuna had no choice but to narrow her eyes.

That means Leongand's dream comes true.

It was the realization of Leongand's dream that was Setuna's dream.

That is why Setuna accepted not a single dissatisfaction with the political marriage and also undertook to assume the role of negotiator with Benoagard.

It's all because of Leongando's dream...

"Always fight for someone and throw it all the way to life. Aren't you tired?

Not knowing what Miliu's question was meant to be, Setsuna shrugged her neck.

Without answering, the break was over.
