Armed Summoners - Black Spears and the Brave Men of the Other World

Episode One Thousand Six Hundred Thirty-six: The End of a Dream (28)

The Balsar Fortress is situated on the border between mainland Gandia and Logner.

When Gandhia was once a weak nation, it was a fortress that served as an absolute bulwark against Logner's invasion, a military stronghold of robustness itself that was perceived as indestructible. It's been a long time since Logner was able to drop that difficult fortress because the absolute invincible shield Quon-Kamiya cooperated, and it's been said that he would have endured what would have been a Logner army onslaught without Quon's help.

It was the fortress of Balsar that was so trusted by now, but given modern warfare, it is clear that it is life-saving to overstate that defense. Doesn't a fortress that has not sent the Imperial Devil and has repelled the Logner army many times make little sense in the current war, which presupposes putting in a large number of armed summoners?

Robust walls are the same if destroyed and blown up by powerful subpoenas. How strong a fortress can be called powerless if it comes in front of the overwhelming firepower of the Summoning Army.

Fortress can't be counted on.

Sigurd-Foglier, director of the mercenary bureau and head of the "Pale Wind" regiment, said away to the members prior to the battle with the Vashtarian army. Only the members of the "Pale Wind" and "Red Wings" gather in front of the Sigurd. Naturally, there's Lux, and there's his wife, Benedict.

"Don't even think about fighting in a cage to outrun the enemy's onslaught."

"In the first place, the Vashtarian army is overwhelmingly strong. Even in the absence of an armed summoner, in front of all those soldiers, the fortress of insidious defeat will be mildly breached."

"So,"

Sigurd glances at the gin.

"But how do we fight?"

"There is nothing but to find and discuss enemy commanders. The enemy is an overwhelming majority. You can't even fight it in our numbers. Being drunk by the quantity and just doomed. But it is the same for the enemy to be flirted with by the numbers. If you can defeat the Commander and disrupt the chain of command, you have a chance."

(You can't have that.)

Though I thought so, I didn't put it in my mouth. Whether Benedict, standing next to him, thought the same thing, he squeezes Lux's hand hard that he was holding. Gripping back, she glanced at us. My eyes, they're laughing.

Jin would have said such a thing to inspire the members of his men at all. The number of enemies is said to exceed 200,000. Probably swelled up when the army that came from another direction joined the army that broke through the Zalwarn side. It's hard to find a commander out of all that. Perhaps we have a main unit in the rear, but in that case, can we even reach the main unit? Even where we have reached the main line and succeeded in destroying the commander, we have decided to be crushed and devastated faster than there will be confusion in the chain of command.

Some battles are so obvious of victory and defeat.

But still, the morale of "The Pale Wind" and "Red Wings" did not go down. Rather, it's up enough to go up.

So is Lux.

In the face of absolute death, Lux's will to fight continued to exalt.

This is not the first battle we have not won. We've fought and dived through those battles many times before. Of course, many times I was prepared to die, although there had never been a more desperate battle of power differences. Each time, we are breaking through, exerting more power than our strength.

(This time, that's unlikely)

I don't think I can do anything about more than 200,000 enemy soldiers, even if I can show more power than I can.

Let the hand of the wearer touch the pattern of the sword. Gravestone. It is the shape of my father, his partner. Having crossed countless battlefields with him, the Devil's Sword will respond to his thoughts.

It will be a desperate battle.

But still, neither the "Pale Wind" nor the "Red Wings" are desperate as one.

It's all that's left, understanding that you're going to die.

Still, along with Sigurd, he chose to fight along with Benedict.

If it's enough to stay alive and away from the two of you, you'd better die with it.

All the idiots thinking about it marched out of Fort Balsar.

Are the Gandians out?

Ahead of Sigurd turning around, some three thousand men from the Fourth and Fifth Legions of the Gandia side were forming an array. The story was that there are few deserters in the Gandhian army either. Maybe the fact that we faced doom made the generals ready. It would also be a manifestation of loyalty to Leongand. Leongand gave them a glorious dream. I can't help but reward you, maybe.

"Naturally. Fortress Balsar is the final line of defense in Gandia."

"I'm falling."

"There is a Setuna in the King's capital."

Lux smiled as he listened to the conversation between Sigurt and Jin.

"Setsuna could do something about it."

"Expecting, expecting?

"That apprentice will overcome any predicament."

It was Lux who answered that to Benedict, but it was also something I believed from the bottom of my heart.

The encounter with Setuna and his apprenticeship were also good memories now. These days, I couldn't do anything as a master, but I should have taught you everything you could teach me about the basics of battle and how to train. All you have to do is learn from Esq-Soma. Esq even feels better as a master.

Setsuna was an excellent apprentice. He took everything Lux said honestly and tried to respond to Lux's thoughts with his whole body. Though it was often at first that he was unable to respond due to lack of strength, there were many things he would take and respond to as he grew. The awesomeness of the growth rate was such that he couldn't help but lux and forbid surprises, and he grew stronger irrelevant, such as the presence or absence of talent. It goes without saying that my mentoring relationship with him is having some effect on Lux.

Setsuna would do something about it.

It has always been so.

So, I'm sure.

It stretches out in front of you in the forest area of the northern Balsar Fortress. The forest areas where fighting between the Gandia Liberation Army and the Lucion Army took place are scattered with traces of destruction caused by the clashes between the two. It is a claw mark of destruction by armed summoners and Demon Crystal Dolls. There should have been a plain on the other side of that forest zone.

But I didn't see any plains or anything in Lux's sight.

Because a Vashtarian army general is painting the plains white. I guess this is exactly what Yunxia's army means. As far as I can see, every place is full of Vashtarian generals. It is only natural that a number of countries, the Zalwarn side and the Logner side, have fallen without the art of exchange. Even Gandhia's total strength exceeds its capacity.

"Steady, that's an awesome number to look at again"

"It's still part of the force, so that's the corner of the three forces."

"Damn, I was wondering how we could equalize these people with each other, etc."

"Your Majesty, are you?"

"That's a great way to do it."

"Yes."

But such a great dream will soon come to an end.

It has to end.

Even Setuna, isn't it impossible?

Huh, he was stunned by the undeniable fact that he had a feeling it was just behind his brain.

Even though the 200,000 in front of us says it's too much, it's still just part of the enemy's power. If this more than ten times more power arrives in Gandion, how little Setuna, he may not be able to fathom.

(Setuna)

I guess the only reason I care about him to the end is because Lux is the only hands-on apprentice.

"I can't help but talk in here. Let's go, bastards!

Sigurd's decree has begun the mercenaries' march.

The Gandhian army also moves along with it.

Finally, the last battle of Lux began.
