Armed Summoners - Black Spears and the Brave Men of the Other World

Episode One Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirty-eight: Where Responsibility (2)

The Capitol of the Mountain Protection Conference is an extremely prestigious building in the heart of the Lyohan Aerial Capital.

Of the three major residential districts of Lyohan, the most ancient and ruins are found in the Aerial Capital. That should be it, too. The aerial capital was a residential area created using a group of ancient ruins at the top of Mount Lyov, and there were numerous buildings reusing that group of ruins intact.

Neither the watchtower, known as the sanctuary where the patron saint sits, nor the Capitol of the Mountain Protection Conference, hits one of those buildings. In other words, it is only an authoritative and intimidating building because the Capitol sees it, but also because it has created such a building for one of the far ancients. It is not the hobby of the senators at the Mountain Protection Conference. It is merely a matter of saying that this authoritative building has been chosen as a result of a review of the buildings from among the group of ruins that deserve to be used as a capitol.

It may have been a building of the same treatment for one of the ancient people who used a group of ruins.

Because the making in the capitol was the right thing to use as a capitol. There were many large and small meeting rooms, and there were numerous rooms available as holding rooms and office rooms. It is no exaggeration to say that many of those rooms, large and small, are used as private rooms for each member of the Mountain Protection Council, and that the chamber is always vibrant by the side of the senator, his men and one who works in the chamber.

There are days when such a vibrant capitol will be engulfed in silence.

It was the day that the goddess of war would participate in the Mountain Protection Conference, and that day was engulfed in tension from the time when the Capitol would move to the time when the meeting would end, with no gain or mention of any place in the Capitol.

Although it is a story not directly related to Faria where she is the central figure of that tension, she was aware that she was causing senseless tension to the one person who normally worked. Because it is also true that there is nothing she can do for herself in the position of goddess of war. The sanctity and greatness of the position of goddess of war are the cause of tension for everyone, so it's hard to do it together.

Lyohan's pillars can be sufficient because the goddess of war is on the cloud for the general public and difficult to touch.

Most importantly, the previous goddess of war was the opposite of authoritarianism, which deals very normally with even if the opponent is an ordinary citizen, and Falia is also trying to be such a goddess of war. But the value of the position of goddess of war is further enhanced by the death of previous generations, and it is the status quo that we have not quite done as we think.

The Capitol is a large building on all three floors. In the deepest part of that ground floor there is a large conference room for this meeting. Meetings that use large conference rooms are not so frequent. Councillors at the Mountain Protection Conference are less than thirty people in total, even if they pull everything from the Aerial Capital, Mountain City and Mountain Gate Street. It consists of representatives appointed by the inhabitants for each residential area, for each compartment, whose opinion may be referred to as the opinion of the respective compartment, but, anyway, is not large enough to require the use of a large conference room.

A meeting enough to use a large conference room required the participation of the goddess of war - that was what would take up the agenda that might hold Lyohan's fate. In the past, the same would have been true of the conference on the Crusade of the Demons, and the dispatch of the goddess of war and the four great heavenly samurai to the small group of nations, which would have used the Great Chamber and had a lively debate. Recently, meetings on the future of Lyohan immediately after the “Great Destruction”, as well as on refugee issues and the Second Lyohan Defence War, are new to my memory.

And this time, it was clear from before it was decided that the conference would be one involving the refugee issue and the Second Lyohan Defence War.

Many of the Mountain Defenders have not even tried to hide that they have an anti-ideology against Faria over here from refugee policy and form a faction called the Anti-War Goddess. The chairman of the Mountain Protection Council, Mordoa-Fabril, was at its head, and the majority of the members under his influence, as enemies of the goddess of war, were on the floor.

As mentioned earlier, mountain protection councillors are not the only ones surrounding the large table in the large conference room. Thirty or so senators alone cannot fill their seats. Even if Phalia, the goddess of war, took three representatives of the Seven Heavenly Samurai there and took part, the vacancy stands out. Joining there were the executives of the Guardian Peak Samurai Regiment, with Samurai Admiral Vistendal-Haukmur and two staff officers, plus the captainship from the most squadrons to the third squadron lined their faces.

Among the participants gathered in the large conference room, they showed a friendly attitude towards Faria only enough to count. Not to mention his grandfather, Alexei-Valdish, to represent the senators, but a few other senators, and his cousin, Captain Three, Skol-Valdish. Skoll was seriously wounded dying in the Second Defense War, but thanks to his men, the squadrons, he had taken his life and his entire body wounds were blocked as well. As much as his smile, there may be nothing like kindness in this conference room.

This time, everyone who knows the agenda to be covered, be it the senator or the Guardian Peak Samurai, was waiting for the meeting to begin with a tense face.

Faria, in such tension, is alone, in the feeling of floating in the void. Her mental state was extremely calm and stable in a situation in which members of Parliament would begin to pursue their responsibilities towards Faria. In time, I can calmly look over the situation because I know what they're thinking is in their hands.

Eventually, when the meeting began, one of the senators raised his hand and was nominated for Moldova. An old gentleman with a beard opens his mouth.

"The fact that refugees in Foothill District have become gods and attacked Yamagate Street as spikes of the Divine Army seems to me to have to be judged to be an obvious failure of Goddess of War's hectic refugee policy, but let's see how everyone gathered here thinks"

The senator took a glimpse of the senators, the Guardian Peak Samurai executives and the goddesses of war surrounding the conference hall table.

"Indeed, the Divine Army left, and Lyohan prevailed. That would be great. Let the fact that you saved Lyohan from a crisis of survival be shameless in the name of the goddess of war. But you also know that the goddess of war cannot remain happy to let go, ignoring the damage she has suffered, the people she has lost and the crisis she has faced for that matter. We have heard that the Guardian Peak Samurai Corps has suffered a great deal, but Captain Vistendahl"

When the mustache senator spoke to Vicendahl, Vicendahl opened his mouth strictly with the same promptness as the events that had been decided since before the meeting. What was spoken out of his mouth was about human harm.

"As I said, the Guardian Peak Samurai lost as many as three hundred and five hundred people in the battle ahead. The Guardian Peak Samurai is a military organization of two thousand competent armed summoners. Those two thousand, too, are not just kids who have learned armed summons, but an elite array of picks and workouts. I fought bravely and resolutely without any one cowering at my divine opponent. The goddess of war must have remembered it."

I nod as I stare back at Vistendahl's dull and shining eyes.

"Of course it is. Without the intellectual courage of every squad member of the Guardian Peak Samurai Corps, everyone, including me, would not have been able to hold out either. Their death, which was fought out because of Lyohan, because of the Mountain, and because of the people burning their lives and risking their souls, is never in vain. Because Lyohan was able to survive because of his honorable sacrifice."

"I have no objection to that"

Vistendahl took Faria's word and said so.

"On the contrary, you may consider that the damage to the Guardian Peak Samurai Corps is much lower than assumed prior to the war. The total strength of the Gods was two hundred thousand, and they besieged our mountain. Originally, it was no surprise to see the worries of devastation. But thanks to Lord Ramles taking on much of the Divine Army, we were able to concentrate our forces on the enemy formation. You could say that it minimized the damage."

Only because Vistendahl understood how difficult it was to defend the Second World War, even though there were three hundred and fifty dead. There were more than 2,000 Lyohans available for 200,000 enemy fights. Although all Lyohan's side are armed summoners, it's a different matter of whether they can cover up as much as 200,000 items.

Fighting is about numbers.

Because he understood the logic, Vistendahl even considered the possibility that the Guardian Peak Samurai might be devastated, which is why he damaged three hundred and fifty people and cut it off as if it were less than expected.

"That should be acknowledged by the Mountain Protection Conference."

"Hmm..."

"I see, I understand. The Guardian Feng samurai believe that the Goddess of War is not responsible for the loss in this battle?

"Exactly. You may accept it as a token of our Guardian Peak Samurai."

When Vistendahl said it out strongly, the mustache senator fluttered a little. Some unfortunate look peeked in that moment of fright, probably because Faria is aware that the senator is an anti-war goddess force.

"Now, that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Lyohan faced a critical situation through the dehumanization of refugees. The goddess of war must be aware of that. Different?

Vistendahl's rigid, sharp stubbornness pours on Faria. At the same time every human being in the conference hall watched Faria. The feeling of being turned on the battlefield with the blade of the stripper strikes Faria, but she, with her cool face, opposed them.

As for pursuing responsibility, it was something I knew, something I was thinking about.

In fact, the problem, Lyohan faced the crisis of doom, was all caused by Faria.

Had Faria not enforced refugee protection, it could not have developed into such a situation.

At least, without a refugee-populated neighborhood, 30,000 gods would not have arrived in Yamagata Street and Malik would not have been forced to lift the protective bond. In other words, Lyohan remained overshadowed by the junction and was never exposed to God's attacks.

The responsibility for doing so lies with Faria.

Only in Faria, there is.

"No."

Faria told Rin, aware of her many gazes, staring into Vistendahl's eyes.
