Chapter 43 - 41: The Road to Oakhaven (r18)
The dense, lingering gloom of the Lower Labyrinth slowly yielded to the dim, gray light filtering down through the cavern’s high fissures.
Victor opened his eyes, rising fluidly from his resting position as the final watch drew to an end. His dark coat fell silently into place around his tall frame. He internally probed his mana core; though still fractured and raw around the edges, it remained stable, no longer threatening to violently implode as it had during the depth trials.
Beside the cold embers of their small camp, the others were waking. Elena moved with a light, energetic ease, the golden-blue essence of the Tears of Ancient Dragons had completely restored her drained vitality, leaving no trace of her former exhaustion. Across from her, Kael sat quietly on a smooth stone slab, gently running his calloused fingers down the scaled leather haft of the Dragon Slayer Battle Axe. With every pulse of Kael’s breath, a faint, rhythmic crimson light flared along the dark mithril blades, humming in perfect, seamless synchronization with his bloodline.
Lyra stood near the mouth of the chamber, her rapier resting against her hip, her silver eyes sharp and vigilant as she scanned their surroundings. Everyone had recovered enough to move.
Victor turned his gaze toward the translucent form of Elaria, floating silently nearby.
"Elaria," Victor spoke, his voice cool and measured in the quiet chamber. "The route through the Elaric Forest,is it safe from Garrick’s men?"
The ancient spirit tilted her head, her ethereal voice resonating softly against the stone. "Garrick and his remaining scouts have, in all likelihood, abandoned their search. From their perspective, the structural collapse of the upper levels sealed the entrance completely. They believe the ruin became your tomb."
Victor considered her words. From a tactical standpoint, Garrick had no logical reason to waste time or resources guarding the perimeter of a crushed mountain. Aligning her explanation with his own deep knowledge of the original novel’s world structure, along with the precise instincts that had kept him alive thus far, Victor reached a firm conclusion. Everything Elaria had done since the Blood Trial had proven her genuine intent.
She could be trusted.
"We take the forest route," Victor announced plainly, addressing the group. "We will cross the Elaric Forest on foot and cut directly across to the northern roadway leading into Oakhaven."
Lyra offered a small, cautious nod, accepting his tactical assessment without protest. Kael stood up, effortlessly slinging the massive battle axe across his back where it secured against his heavy leather harness. Elena took her place beside her brother, her focus staff held firmly in her hand, her eyes bright with renewed resolve.
Elaria floated forward, raising her glowing hands. "Before we step into the canopy, allow me to prepare the path."
With a gentle wave of her arm, a soft green light gathered in her palm, condensing until a tiny, luminescent forest spirit fairy materialized. The spirit zipped through the air with faint, chiming sounds, leaving a glittering trail of emerald dust behind it.
"This spirit will guide you along the hidden paths where the canopy is thickest," Elaria explained. "On foot, reaching the main road will take approximately three hours. I have bestowed my Warden’s Blessing upon your group. Ordinary beasts and native forest spirits will perceive you as protected travelers and leave you unbothered." Her expression hardened slightly. "However, take heed, corrupted beings and demonic entities remain entirely immune to the blessing."
"Understood," Victor said simply.
Led by the fluttering spirit fairy, the party moved through a hidden emergency passage hidden behind a revolving stone slab. They navigated a tight, ascending tunnel for nearly fifteen minutes before emerging into the bright, blinding sunlight on the far side of the mountain.
The cool forest breeze brushed against Victor’s face as he stepped out onto the lush grass at the edge of the vast Elaric Forest. He paused, turning his head to look back one final time at the jagged stone facade of the hidden ancient ruins.
Garrick truly believed them dead, buried beneath millions of tons of primordial stone. It was a strategic error on his enemy’s part and an invaluable advantage for Victor. Their enemies would move forward with their plans completely unaware that Victor was still walking the earth, armed with legendary relics and an loyal, empowered party.
"Move," Victor commanded, turning toward the thick woodland.
The tiny fairy darted ahead, weaving through ancient, moss-draped trees whose thick canopies nearly blocked out the midday sun. As they walked, the forest around them hummed with subtle life. Wild beasts watched from the underbrush, their glowing eyes following the party, but none dared approach, held back by the gentle green light of the Warden’s Blessing.
Kael walked near the center, adjusting to the rhythm of carrying the Dragon Slayer Battle Axe. With every mile they covered, his movements became fluid, the initial awkwardness vanishing as the heavy weapon settled against his shoulder like an extension of his own body.
"It really fits you, Kael," Elena whispered, stepping beside him with a warm smile. "It’s like... it was meant for you all along."
Kael offered a small, rare smile, his hand resting on the haft. "It feels right. I won’t let Victor down after he gave this to me."
Lyra maintained her position at the rear, her silver eyes constantly scanning the shadows between the massive trunks. Even under Elaria’s protection, her instincts as a noble bodyguard kept her on edge. Beside her, Victor walked in silence, his sharp mind already calculating his next strategic moves once they crossed the gates of Oakhaven.
Aria’s Pov
Meanwhile, miles away in the bustling city of Oakhaven, the sun filtered softly through the lace curtains of a high-end inn room. Aria sat alone on the edge of the plush bed ,Victor’s bed.
The room was completely silent save for her quiet, shallow breathing. The rest of the party was gone, off in the dangerous depths of the wilderness, but her mind remained anchored entirely to a single person. She leaned down, pulling one of Victor’s dark, discarded coats close to her chest. She buried her face into the heavy fabric, closing her eyes as she inhaled deeply, breathing in the cold, distinct scent of ozone and dark mana that belonged solely to him. A shiver ran down her spine, her fingers gripping the velvet fabric until her knuckles turned white.
"Victor..." she whispered into the empty room, her voice heavy with an intense, suffocating fixation.
The silence stretched on, but her thoughts burned with an unyielding, possessive heat. She didn’t care about the dangers of the ruins, nor the political storms gathering across the realm. Her world had narrowed to a single, consuming needle-point. When would he return to her?
Aria’s breath hitched, the scent of Victor’s dark mana clinging to the coat like a physical touch. The ozone smell triggered a primal, aching hunger deep in her gut, a void that only he could fill. She sank back onto the plush mattress, the fabric of his bed rubbing against her thighs, fueling the fire spreading between her legs.
She couldn’t wait any longer. Her hand slid down, trembling, pushing aside her clothes until her fingers found the drenched heat of her pussy. She let out a jagged moan, her hips arching off the bed as she slid two fingers deep inside herself.
"Yes... ahh..." she whimpered, her voice echoing in the silent room.
She began to pump her fingers in and out with a frantic, desperate rhythm, imagining it was Victor’s thick cock stretching her open. She pushed deeper, trying to mimic the feeling of being completely filled, her walls clamping tight around her own digits. She shifted her weight, sliding a finger toward her tight back hole, probing the entrance with a needy desperation.
"Stretch me, Master... stretch my holes... use me..." she sobbed, her head tossing back against the pillows. She imagined him standing over her, his cold eyes watching her unravel, his hands pinning her wrists down while he claimed every inch of her.
The fantasy intensified, her breathing becoming a series of broken gasps. She began to finger herself harder, her nails scratching at her clit while her fingers hammered into her pussy, mimicking the brutal, possessive pace she craved from him. She leaned forward, pressing her face violently into the bedsheets, inhaling the concentrated scent of him that lingered in the fabric. The smell of dark mana acted like an aphrodisiac, pushing her over the edge.
"Master! Please... Master!"
Her body suddenly stiffened, her toes curling as a violent orgasm ripped through her. Her internal muscles clamped down hard on her fingers, and she let out a loud, guttural scream of release. As she peaked, her hole spasmed uncontrollably, spraying a heavy gush of clear, hot juices across the expensive floor of the room, the liquid splattering against the dark wood.
Aria collapsed back onto the sheets, her chest heaving, her body still twitching from the intensity of the climax. She lay there in the silence, drenched in her own arousal, staring at the door with wide, obsessed eyes. The pleasure was fleeting, leaving behind an even deeper, more suffocating longing. She was a ruined mess on his bed, waiting, aching, and completely consumed by the need for her master to return and finish what she had started.
Deep within the Elaric Forest, after nearly three hours of continuous travel, the small guide fairy suddenly slowed its pace, hovering near a dense thicket of high berry bushes and ancient oaks.
Through the gaps in the tall foliage, a wide, paved stone roadway appeared, winding through the rolling hills toward the distant horizon.
Elaria floated to the front of the group, her form glowing softly in the dappled sunlight.
"The Elaric Forest ends here," Elaria spoke softly, pointing toward the open horizon beyond the trees. "The road to Oakhaven is just beyond those trees."
The party stepped through the brush, leaving the ancient canopy behind as the vast, open sky stretched out before them. In the far distance, rising above the green hills, the towering stone spires and fortified walls of Oakhaven stood framed against the afternoon sun.
Victor stepped out onto the dirt shoulder of the main road, his dark coat shifting in the wind. He looked back briefly toward the distant, hidden mountain range, then turned his pitch-black eyes toward the city ahead.
The hidden ancient ruins were finally behind them.
Victor had survived the Hidden Ruins.
Now it was time to see what awaited him in Oakhaven.
