Ascendance of a Bookworm

star festival

Star Festival Day.

Early mornings when the sun still doesn't make you feel the heat of summer, although the sun is on your face. Already the city was able to enter the festival-specific temper and the enthusiasm caused by the movement of men, and despite the early hours before the opening of the gate, a flow of people was made towards the south and east gates.

"Mother, I'm coming!

"Mine, be careful not to overshake it. Lutz, I'm always sorry, but I need mine."

I left the house with Lutz, who came to pick me up. It was with Touri to leave the house, but Touri seems to enjoy the festival with his own friends, so it's a different course of action. Run to the gate with Ralph and Faye.

"Bye, Mine. Have fun today."

"And Touri."

After waving and splitting at Touri and Ralph, me and Lutz headed to the temple to defy the flow of men. I wear it everyday so I can play in the water today.

When people come out of the alleys here and there, they walk towards the gates with pleasant glances. They all seem to assume that they will get wet, and no one wears sunshine when they say it's a festival.

Go further north past Central Square as you defy the waves of people. By then, the crowd was getting a little smaller. It seems that all the people who are going to the woods at the same time as opening the gate have already gone to the gate.

Mine left a message at the orphanage.

"Huh? Why!?

I was going to go to the woods with everyone and pick up Tau's fruit, and I turned my eyes round and looked up at Lutz. Rutz opens his mouth distorting his face like it's hard to say.

"If you were only going to take Mine to the festival, I was going to pick up a couple of taws in the woods and come back. Instead of throwing it at the bride and groom, when we got back to the orphanage, we were all supposed to throw each other, right? Then we'll need the amount of tau. If I had Mine, I wouldn't be back in the temple by the time the four bells ring."

I was going to go to the woods in a hiking mood with all of us, and I can fall prey to Rutz's theory. As always, I hate myself for only being a foot wrapper.

Lutz lurked his voice a little as he stroked his pompous head to comfort him.

"Besides, maybe someone's coming to see how it goes, and Dean Mine should have stayed in the orphanage?

"Ugh...... Indeed."

It is likely that the side service of the clergyman or temple chief will come to watch out or to see how things are going. If the temple chief finds out that the orphanage is a stubborn shell, then blame may go not only on me, but also on the clergyman who gave his permission.

"Some of them are helpful and they're still there, aren't they? Tau's fruit is actually picked up by everyone, so Mine left a message, too. If you can't do that, I can't help you."

"... ok. I'm leaving a message."

When we arrived at the temple, almost simultaneously two bells rang throughout the city. Time to open the door.

I held my mouth so everyone led by Lutz wouldn't talk through the back door of the orphanage and dropped Fran off with me going out there. The gatekeeper is laughing, and he's going to laugh.

When I saw everyone away from the temple raise their voices and ran out towards the gate, I headed to my room with envy, dressed in blue so that I could be stuffed in an orphanage.

"Is Delia glad she didn't have to go to the woods?

"Going to the woods is something I don't need to be a mistress. I want to learn to write faster than that."

Gil and Delia practicing their letters by trying to compete ahead with the tablet I gave them, but Gil remembers just a little faster. I think it's probably because I take the carta and play with everyone in the orphanage.

"So far we've lost to Gil, haven't we?

"Me too! Isn't that just a little bit! I'll win in a minute!

Leaving the cook's watch to Delia, who stays voluntarily, I decide to head with Fran to the orphanage.

Going down to the ground floor, I saw a glimpse through the open door of Hugo and Ella cooking with impatient momentum, who wanted to complete the dish by the four bells throwing Tau's fruit at each other.

"The Chief Cleric has told us to talk about rituals in the temple this morning. It is forbidden to throw tau fruit at each other in the orphanage until Master Mine remembers exactly."

"Wow..."

Apparently he won't allow any compromise on education. The clergyman just put together my education program. There are quite a few things to remember by the end of the day.

When I look at what's written on the wood tag, I get slackened, and I say, "The chief cleric has imposed an amount that he decides he can do this because of his computational and literacy abilities," Fran says, but the chief cleric misunderstands. My computational skills are a gift of my previous life, and my literacy skills are hard work because they are an essential ability to read. It is troubling when it is used as a yardstick of memory for the rituals of the temple. I don't have such an excellent head.

As I walked around the corridor to the orphanage, I looked perfectly at the blue cleric who saw his face for the first time, whether he was on his way to preparing for the ritual.

"Oh, aren't you a shamelessly blue civilian? There's no children in today's ritual, is there?

"Instead of rituals, the clergyman has given us the service of packing them in an orphanage to keep the children out of the way of rituals."

"Oh, I see. Looking after orphans is a good fit for civilians. Encourage me."

"I appreciate your words of encouragement."

"Hum!"

The blue cleric leaves with his nose ringing like it doesn't seem funny. I also began to walk towards the orphanage. Fran frowns at care and calls out worryingly.

"Um, Master Mine. Earlier…"

"You don't have to worry about it, Fran. If you just say so with your mouth, I'll be fine. No harm done at all."

When I entered the orphanage, there were a few gray witches, who remained in the orphanage. It's just left as a candidate for flower dedication, every kid is of a different type, but he's just a beautiful kid with a nice face.

"Oh, Master Mine. What's wrong with you?

He turns back to me and leans his neck. The trick is so sophisticated that she looks more like a lady than I do.

"I'm going to be packing it here for when someone comes to see how it goes. How may I help you?

"No, we're not that attracted to going to the woods, so we were discussing staying and making soup."

"Well, that helps."

I found a face I saw in one of the gray witches.

She's a mid-teenage girl who tied up her blonde hair nearby the bright orange. No, it could be weird to be a girl because she's more adult than she is tying her hair up. But the girl has the perfect young face.

"Vilma, thank you for painting the carta the other day. It was so nice."

Vilma's ever-smiling bright brown eyes were delightfully narrowed to further accentuate the gentle atmosphere.

"I'm the one who thanked you for letting me paint. It's been a long time since I held the pen, and I was really happy. The kids here looked very intrigued, but they weren't for the orphanage."

"Because that was a reward for my side service. If Vilma draws it for me, though I could order a board for the orphanage kids?

Prepare the board, I can handle it as long as I write the letters, but they say my illustrations are different from the paintings of culture here as long as the people around me are in alignment to stop them. Vilma's cooperation is a must to make a carta.

"Well, definitely! Please."

Vilma sparkled her face. It's full of enthusiasm for painting and love for the kids at the same time. When I cleaned the orphanage, it should have been Vilma, too, who ran to the kids the most and washed them clean.

When I promised to prepare the carta for the children of the orphanage in the near future, the girl next to Vilma looked down sadly.

"If I could paint like Vilma, I'd be of help to Master Mine, too, but..."

"Oh, Rosina's not very good at harp."

The grown-up, beautifully faced Rosina stunt that unfortunately sighed sounds like a harp. What's that, graceful?

I would love to hear Rosina's harp, but the previous lord had the instrument, so I say that I am now without stunts. I'd like to buy it for you if possible, but even in Japan the instruments were basically expensive. The price of a good instrument is set without ceiling knowledge.

"Hey, Fran. A harp is expensive, isn't it?

"You'd better ask Master Benno, but music is a must for the Blue Witch's taste, isn't it?

"If Master Mine can be educated, I think we can help. If you don't mind, please stand out for me."

Apparently Rosina used to serve the same blue witch apprenticeship as Vilma. She was a witch apprentice who was very interested in the arts, and her side of the service seemed to be well divided into gray witches and apprentices to share the arts with gray clerics who perform chores. They say Rosina and the others were every day brushing their arms for songs, instruments, dancing, poetry, paintings, etc.

... Ugh. I've been taught piano for about 3 years, but I've never touched a harp at all. There's no pianica or recoder here, is there?

It's not just about paperwork and the temple, it's about having to wear it up to upbringing, and now I feel sooner than later that I've become a blue witch apprentice.

"So, Master Mine. We're going to make soup."

When the Vilmas went to make soup, Fran and I were left in the orphanage dining room.

"Hey, Fran. If I told you I wanted to put Burma in the sidelines, what would you think? Would the Chief Cleric allow that?

"Get Vilma? Are you sure you want to ask why?

Fran frowned a little.

"Vilma's a good painter, isn't she? So is Karta, but from now on, I'm going to need a painting for what I want to make, so I want to make sure it's taken by other blue clerics. Besides, I thought you might need a grey witch who's grown up and educated."

"Perhaps permission will be given. However, it seems like Vilma is the one who takes care of the young children most in this orphanage, so what happens to the orphans after pulling out Vilma..."

"Yes. Next time we hear from Vilma, we'll think about it a little bit."

Three bells rang as he lectured from Fran about the ritual of the temple. After that, it gets noisy out there on purpose. Looks like the bride and groom have come to the temple for a star knot ritual. I want to go see it, but there's no way I can go.

Four bells rang as I was doing the norm whirling. Looks like the star knot ritual is over, and the deliberate blurring gets a little farther.

Little by little after the quiet returned, the children snuck back through the back door. He comes up the stairs, holding his mouth down, not letting him make footsteps.

"Welcome back, gentlemen. Did you pick a lot of tau fruit?

"Master Mine, don't!

Don't talk, he tells me, he hurries and shuts up. The second the back door of the basement sounds closed and Lutz walks in and puts his hands up all the time, everyone starts talking to each other.

"I've picked a lot of them!

"I keep all the cages in the basement. Lunch first, right?

"Then let's clear our hands and wait for God's grace to reach us, shall we? I'll be back in my room once."

We have Lutz, so we don't go through the corridor, we go through the basement. There was a lot of tau fruit in the basement that everyone had picked up.

"Lutz, can I get four fruits I picked up? The cooks Hugo and Ella couldn't make it to the woods, so I want to give it to them."

"Oh, good."

Fran took Tau's fruit and went back to the room from the back door.

I was already ready for lunch and waited while Hugo cared about the outside. Pass two tau fruits to the two of you through the franc.

"I know it's a festive day, but thank you for coming. It's not much, but he's got it."

"Huh? Wah!? Thanks!

I turned my back on the kitchen and found Hugo rushing out at the same time. I wonder how much I was looking forward to the star festival on earth. And who are you going to hit that tau fruit on? I heard Ella stopping, "Hey, Mr. Hoogo," as she cared about my condition, so I read the air and I did not look back, but went up the stairs.

I'll have Delia serve me in my own room and I'll have lunch with Lutz.

Cappellini extra for lunch today. I had them make raw pasta cut as thin as possible. I chose pomesauce and cheese as unconventional as possible, like tomato and mozzarella, to prepare two kinds: one served with herbs and one made with salt, herbs and garlic dressing ligas in vegetable oils for basil sauce.

Then there is a salad with steamed birds served with seasonal vegetables. I really feel like eating cold noodles, but as always, I can't help it because I don't see anything I can use for Japanese food.

"Lutz worked a lot. You can eat plenty. Thanks to Lutz, guys, it seemed like a lot of fun. Thanks."

"I've been straining and looking for you. Some of them got into the back quite a bit, and I wondered what I'd do if I couldn't make it back by the time I got there."

"...... nice. I also wanted to festive and see. I studied with Fran all morning."

I can't help but envy the way I was picking up Tau fruit for fun in the woods and hearing the thoughts of the orphans who saw people with Tau fruit when they came back to the temple.

"Hey, Mine. Just for a second, why don't you go check out the festival?

"Huh?"

"There won't be any more brides and grooms, and we're not throwing taws, we're just gonna see what the city's like. After we finish our lunch, if those guys are having dinner, we're gonna have a little time, right?

God's grace will be handed out after the blue cleric's lunch, and after the side service is finished, and some gray clerics will be ready for carriages, so there's a little time for tau throws after they're all in place.

"Go! I want to go!

Changing from blue witch clothes to regular clothes, I jumped out of the temple gate with Lutz.

The flooded streets sparkled in the summer sun. It's barely wet near the temple, but as I leave the temple, my feet become numb. How many tau fruits on earth were thrown that even the summer sun did not dry immediately?

My whole body was wet and I could see the kids running cheering as they dripped water from my hair. From where the children are headed, a noisy voice echoes.

"Let's go, Lutz!

"Just look from afar."

Following Lutz's advice, it was only a sneak peek from the shadows of the building that the alley, not so big, was in a huge mix-up. I have no enemies or allies, and anyway, I'm shouting out loud and meaningless words, throwing Tau's fruit around. It echoes because it shouts out between the building and the building, and it's a tremendous amount of voice.

Nobody and he are numb, it is normal for a sister wearing thin summer clothes to stick perfectly to her body and her body lines are tight, what a terrible person is totally transparent. Many men run around naked on the top half just because their sticky clothes are annoying.

... Ugh, sounds like a fuss when the backup team wins football and baseball.

"Wow!?

"Huh!?

Suddenly I heard Lutz's voice and water dripped from Lutz's head. Patapata and herself also came down with cold droplets, and when I looked back in surprise, I saw several children behind Lutz with tau fruit.

"It's not wet in here at all. They're here!

The moment the children raised their voices, the large number of people who were making a fuss turned this way simultaneously. When the brilliance of the hunter's eyes, who finds his prey, is directed at him, he is compelling to relieve himself. A small scream leaked out of his mouth and his whole body shrunk up.

"We're getting away, Mine! Avoid as much as you can!"

"I can't!"

I have trouble expecting such agile behavior. All I can do is raise my arms and prevent a direct blow to my face.

While Rutz ran with my hand like that, he bashed back the fruit of Tau as he flew toward us. I can really play bread with tau fruit hitting the cobblestone like a water balloon.

I was relieved of a direct hit, but Rutz avoided it, which seemed to stir up his opponent's willingness to fight.

"I avoided it! Busy!"

"Guys, do it!

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!"

One flying tau fruit after another pussy! Pattin! and I can hit myself and play it. The feeling it hits itself feels like a boyon, and although it doesn't hurt a lot to hit it, it gives me goosebumps in water that can bounce off droplets of water that transmit the scalp and pour into my spine and hit my back.

"Geez! Cold! Cold!

"Mine, just move your legs!

Only the first shot Rutz was able to pay off. Adults also interact, so there's no way they can get away with it. Quickly surrounded by circles, passive by many.

Rutz and I, who received intensive fire from people who were naturally high because of the festive fervour, could neither avoid nor escape, quickly wandered off.

"Haha! Didn't you work hard to protect him for your little one?

"He's a promising man."

Laughing with guerraggera, they left like a storm in search of their next prey, with words of labor on Lutz, who was trying to protect me to the end.

"... Lutz, this will definitely catch a cold, right?

As I picked up the potato and the falling skirt of water, I shook my head with a pull, and as I flew the droplets, Lutz nodded as well.

"That's for sure. For this matter, Aunt Aefa may scold me once and for all and never let me go to the festival again."

"... I get the vibe. I knew better than to hate it. When you're done, make sure you're feverish. It's a festival not for me."

If you squeeze your hair all the time, the water drips off by making a flutter. Narrowing down here and there, me and Lutz return to the temple.

Preparations had begun in the well square here and there, whether the north was more focused on the dinner party ahead of them than on throwing tau fruit at each other. Hand me a board between the crate and the crate, set up an impromptu table, and the food is being transported from the house here and there.

"If I was hungry, I'd stop by."

"You're just not available yet, are you?

When the food begins to be carried, the people who were making a fuss with the fruit of tau must also remember their hunger.

"Me too! Oh, my God! How fitting!? Will you stay outside until you are ready for a bath because your room is dirty!?

Delia yelled at me before my mother scolded me. "You're scarier than Aunt Aefa," Lutz muttered, but nodding small and agreeing, a flan came out dressed in old clothes to go to the woods so it could get wet.

When he sees us wet, he presses his temples as if he were in trouble.

"Master Mine, it looks like the orphans are ready, so let's head straight to the orphanage. Delia, just get ready so you can use the bath as soon as you get back."

"Yes, sir."

Delia said she couldn't throw Tau's fruit at each other, so Delia left a message. I hear Gil has gone to the orphanage for a while.

"I was contacted by a gray cleric who was preparing a carriage for the Blue Clergy to head to the Noble City. The Blue Cleric and all his servants headed to the aristocratic district, so they closed the main entrance."

When we went from the back door to the orphanage, they all changed from clergy clothes to old clothes and brought out the fruit of tau, which they had left on the ground floor.

Split into two teams at Rutz's behest, they will throw each other, and Franc will divide them appropriately, considering their age and the number of men and women. Make him promise not to go outside from there by specifying a range that may run around.

"Be sure to clean up after. Then, be careful not to make too much noise and wonder about the people in the city. Finally, having fun without getting hurt or fighting. Do you mind?

"Yes!"

"Then distribute the fruit of tau"

Lutz glanced at some cages. I'm supposed to be the most high-profile at times like this, and I have to be the first to move.

Even though the tau fruit I saw in the spring in the woods was only about the size of the first joint of my thumb, the fruit in the cage was actually bigger than my fist. It seems to contain plenty of moisture and is puffy.

I had my eyes almost closed when I was being hit in large quantities, so maybe this would be the first time I've seen Tau's fruit carefully.

"Wow, he's getting really big"

The moment I took one of the fruits above, I felt the magic sucked away just as it did at the time of service, and at the same time began to change my appearance as the fruit of Tau bubbled with bumps.

"Wow!?

"What's up, Mine!?

"The magic is sucking away!

In the fruit of tau, which was translucent red like a water balloon, seeds that seemed as hard as pomegranate emerge one after another and begin to increase.

"Disgusting! What is this!?

"Do I know!?

While I was going right and left while holding it in my hand, the color of the fruit, which was light red, grew slightly darker, and in the fruit the seeds were more numerous than the moisture. The skin that was boyo boyo hardens and I can't see inside.

I finally figured it out when I got here. The red fruit must be a trombe seed I've seen before.

"Lutz, this, it's a trombe! Get the knife ready! They're coming!

"Seriously!?

Leaving Tau's fruit in his grip, Lutz rushed to the basement where he was immediately locked, peering at Tau, who I said was changing his appearance. Skip the instructions to the orphans as they pull out a cage containing blades like knives and tweezers.

"He's used to collecting, put up a knife. Expensive paper ingredients come out. No one left to prune!

"Ha!"

As the orphans arrived at the knife, the hardness of Tau's fruit grew and fever grew. If I'd thrown it in this state before, the trombe would have come out a little.

"Master Mine, we're ready!

Gil stands next to me with a blade like a squad hero. Lutz, who grabbed a knife in one hand, pointed to the cobblestone-free, grassy bush.

"Mine, throw it to the dirt!

Hearing the voices of Gil and Lutz, I threw the fruit of Tau full of strength toward a part of the earth.

"Go, little tree on!
