Ascendance of a Bookworm

Mine Decimal Classification

"Fran, would you go to the workshop and get three gray clerics, and then, uh, get me a side service outside of Burma?

"What will Master Mine do?

"I will look through the inventory deposited by the Cleric Chief in the library and think about classification"

When I entered the library, Fran layered the materials between me and my desk to make my way. Let me sit down, and put down two wooden plaques of the inventory borrowed from the chief cleric, and I will leave the library early enough.

After dropping off Fran's back, I began to look through the Cleric Chief's inventory in the library where no one was left. The wooden plaque, written in fine writing, feels good if you know who it is.

"Which one? What the chief priest brought to the temple...... a lot!?

The amount was so large that half of the books connected to the chain and more than a paragraph of the bookshelf material became the personal belongings of the chief cleric.

... Who's the Chief Cleric?!?

In the meantime, I know perfectly well that I am a blinding rich man. He used to say that things were going on and he went into the temple, but his parents seem so upstream and money. Otherwise, you can't possibly hold five books in the temple that would require many large gold coins to buy one.

I think a book with a skinned cover and embellished with gold and gems would be a family heirloom, not a normal personal item. The Chief Cleric has brought five books into the temple as personal belongings, and this is how he leads them to the chains and publishes them. It only turns out that my fondness for the clergyman grows steadily.

"Too good a clergyman to hold a book and show it to me..."

I looked at the inventory, and after shaking the general classification number, from the percentage of the classification number, I was going to think of the classification number of the bookshelf, but suddenly hit the wall.

"... where do I classify materials about magic?

Trouble is, there is no such thing as magic in the Japanese decimal classification. However, there is the most material on sorcery among the personal belongings of the Chief Cleric, whether it is for an area that only nobility can handle or which requires research.

I will write down the Japanese decimal classification on the calligraphy board.

If you think about making magic equipment, is it 5 technology? Or should I treat it the same way here as 4 math and science? Even introducing taxonomy is difficult if common sense is different.

"In the meantime, let's look at the material before we think about it. It must be in there..."

I could not hold my face back from laughing, staring at the multitude of materials scattered on the floor.

Because it's magic, isn't it? It's the first real magic you've ever seen, right? Don't you just imagine what it says and your chest is pounding and twitching?

Except for the stuff about magic, it seems like it can be classified normally, so when everyone arrives, I'll have the materials stacked first and the scaffolding made. Subsequently, the primary classification number is shaken on the bookshelf to arrange the material through the primary classification on the shelf. I want that done by the end of the day.

And at a later date, you can slowly put bibliographic matters together in an inventory and arrange them in a neatly subdivided order of classification numbers. The second classification would not be usable without considerable modification.

"Me too! What the hell is this!?

When I looked towards the door at the scream I was used to hearing, Delia was angry with her eyes lifted. Delia, whose job is to keep my room clean, gets angry when scattered. For such a delia, the disastrous state of the library must be unforgivable.

Behind Delia were three gray clerics with other side servants, and I found every face flashed by the tragedy in the library.

"Wow, this. I don't know who did it, but he didn't order Master Mine..."

Fran gently held the stomach area to Gil's words, who knew my thoughts toward the book.

"Fran, what's wrong? Does it hurt in the stomach?

"... given the culprit's end of the line, a little"

I didn't think Fran was worried about the killer's end of the line enough to hurt his stomach. I lay my hand on my cheek and leaned my neck, "I'm in trouble".

"If Fran's stomach hurts, should we cancel the blood festival? I thought it would be a good opportunity to show off my majesty as Lord, in addition to being able to show off against my enemies and raise my side's morale."

"Hey, Master Mine! That's because you don't have the morale on your side! He said he'd freeze in fear!

Beginning with my words, the gray clerics pulled their faces back together. Only Fran came to my sight and knelt, and took my hands and began to plead.

"Abort, please. Master Mine is already intimidating enough."

"Oh?

Fran says with too serious an eye, he decided to cancel the blood festival. Cleaning up the library is more fun than a blood festival, so there's no problem.

"Then the blood festival will be canceled for the moment and we'll clear this place up today. First, I'll explain the procedure. Never, ever be careful not to step on the material, divide it into paper and wood tag materials and stack it at this desk. First, clear the materials so you can make your way to the bookshelf."

"Yes."

With a gentle nod to my unanimous reply, I explain the work that follows.

"Please arrange the materials on the shelf of the number I said, as the loaded materials will be classified by Fran and me. Please leave the top of the left bookshelf 0, second to 1, and bottom steps empty. The right bookshelf is two from the top and three from the bottom. I will clean up the other material at the end. Regardless of the order of the materials to be arranged on the shelves. Just be careful not to get the wrong number. Okay, let's get started."

I gathered up the material scattered on the floor, but only Fran bows down next to me. Fran, assigned a different task than the others, blinked her eyes as bewildered.

"Dear Mine, what the hell is classification?

"This! Mine Decimal Classification Table. Look at this and decide which number the material is. If you get lost, call me and I'll answer."

I gave Fran a calligraphy board to explain how to classify.

In the meantime, the paper and wooden plaques that are picked up and stacked are piled onto the desk. Fran and I are going to look through the material at hand and divide it into classification numbers for the primary category.

"Rosina, if you can make your way to the bookshelf, put this on a shelf of 1"

"Yes, Master Mine."

It's what I was expecting, but it's a temple dossier, so there's really a large percentage of one philosophy.2 History and three social sciences are also relatively high. Particularly eye-catching are statistics describing the amount of harvest and offering in each rural area. But I don't see anything recent with all the old stuff.

And there's not a single dossier equivalent to eight languages, not nine literature.

"Delia, there's paper pinched in the scroll! Be careful."

"Don't come in here on my own when I'm rolling, too!

The shyness pointed out, or the paper removed, Delia yelled as she corned the scroll. I pick up a piece of paper scattered around such a delia with laughter as Rosina dulls.

The scrolls are so clear that we don't have to classify them. As soon as I left the scroll, the floor began to look wide.

"Gil, give the material here to the clergyman near two."

"Ooh!

All the scattered material is not in the form of a book. Moreover, the size of the documents is not uniform either, so they are fragmented.

I want a large number of boxes and files to organize my documents. I saw a gray cleric fighting parchment trying to fall with Heron, and I thought so. I don't even see a bookend.

"Shall I ask Johann?

"Master Mine?

"No, it's nothing. Rosina, give this wooden plaque to that gray cleric. Now tell him to hold on to the parchment."

"Yes, sir."

The whole library looked messed up, but the temple chief and the clergyman, the shelves with precious books that wouldn't open without the two keys, weren't open, and I didn't see any signs of scratching or abusive handling of books tied to chains. It's really just harassment with scattered material.

The two bookshelves were empty and scattered extensively, so it seemed like there was a ton of material. However, if you clean up the scrolls and lay the materials together, the amount is surprisingly small. There was not so much paper or wooden plaque that I and Fran had to classify.

"... is that it?

Strange that there was no more paper or wooden plaque on my desk, I leaned my neck.

"Yes. I cleaned up unexpectedly quickly. This classification should be cleaned up quickly."

"Now I just roughly divided it in the primary category. From now on, we plan to subdivide it more so that it's easy to find materials. You're going to need a classification number that fits the reality here, so it's hard to shake the number, but it's rewarding."

As Fran laughed and rose as he was relieved, I also rose and looked around. All the materials that were really scattered on the floor fit inside the shelves.

But there's nothing on the shelf that I was going to put in the Cleric Chief's dossier. After cleaning up, I didn't see a single piece of magical material that was on the Cleric Chief's inventory.

"Dear Mine, what's wrong?

When he returned to me hacked by Fran's voice, a side service and a gray cleric waited side by side for my word. I must be clear that the work is done and dissolve it.

"With your help, the library has been cleared. Thank you. Thank you."

Fran told the clergyman I was going to return the library keys, so I decided to go with him to the clergyman's room. I want to talk to you about magic material.

"You'll have to report today's results and return this inventory, too, won't you? Besides, I could ask you something."

"What is it that you want to ask?

"I did not find any material in this inventory. If it's stored somewhere else, it's fine, but if it's lost, it's a big deal, right?

Fran blued. If all the sorcery-related material had been snatched away by someone, I would be the subject of the greatest suspicion after cleaning up the library. There was no damage to the shelves of the precious books or to the books chained together, so I don't think I've done so much nasty, but it's better to make sure.

"I don't want to see your face again and again a day..."

The clergyman sighed tirelessly when he entered the room stating his reasons for wanting to return the inventory. I don't want to see the clergyman's face, either, but I smile and thank him for the inventory.

"Chief Cleric, it was very helpful of you to lend me your inventory"

"Have you finished cleaning up the library?

That was faster than I expected, the chief cleric mutters. Of course. There's no way you can leave your precious material like that.

"Classification in the primary category is over. We will follow up on the second and third categories. By the way, I didn't find any of these materials. If the Chief Cleric keeps it separately, I don't mind, but I thought it might be problematic if it meant loss or theft, and I came to the report."

"That's fine because it's in my room.... Nevertheless, Mine. How did you know from all that material that there was no inventory?

"Because I was standing up to shake the classification number, and I didn't have one."

Not only that, it's a real magical material that I've never seen in Reino's time. Anyone would notice if they couldn't wait to read it at all.

Besides, the chief cleric says all that material, but I didn't feel that much for me with Reino era memories.

"What's a classification number?

"Mine decimal classification. I use it to organize books."

So I answered, and took out the calligraphy board. There's still a taxonomy I wrote inside to show Fran.

"I have no knowledge of magic at all, so I was worried about whether to classify it into 4 natural sciences or 5 technologies, and I was going to look at the contents of the material before deciding"

"Ho...... This is quite interesting, but did you think about it?

The chief priest narrows his eyes and looks at me in doubt. The suspicion is correct. There is no way that such a lovely thing can be produced for me.

"No, based on Melville Dewey's Dewey Decimal classification, I further messed with the Japanese Decimal classification, so it's a Mine Decimal classification."

"Melville Dewey? Who the hell is that? I've never heard of him."

"Since you are already dead, I do not know you directly either. Rather than that, which would the Chief Cleric classify witchcraft?

While indicating the calligraphy board, I consult the clergyman about the sorcery classification number. The chief clergyman seems to be surprisingly serious, lowering his eyes gently as he leaks a small grunt like "The basic sorcery part..." or "No, but when it comes to sorcery..."

As I was excited to await an answer, the clergyman, who had apparently returned to me hah, coughed up Cohon and shook his head.

"I can only say according to the dossier, and I don't need you to worry"

"... why? You can't sort it out without swinging the classification number, can you?

Before me leaning my neck, the chief cleric loosely looked around and laid down his cotton-and-absorption magic equipment. I hold it and wait for the word of the chief priest.

"Magic is only handled by nobles. I am not going to put any material about witchcraft in the library because I should not let it touch the eyes of a blue cleric who hasn't graduated from the House of Lords"

I see, the material loaded in the stash must be magical. At the same time I was so convinced, it made me wonder. In the way the clergyman put it now, it's as if the blue cleric is not noble.

"Only nobles deal with it... blue clerics are nobles, right?

"He who draws the blood of a nobleman, to be precise, and possesses magic. If you don't graduate from the House of Lords, you won't be recognized in the aristocratic community as a one-man nobleman"

"Is that it? But blue clerics and witches have returned to aristocratic society..."

Has he gone to do it with the House of Lords since he was taken over by his parents? According to stories I heard about the Lord in front of gray clerics in orphanages and workshops, some of the blue ones returning to aristocratic society must have been adult clerics and witches.

"It was only exceptionally admitted to the House of Lords for a certain period of time, because the number was so reduced that it required the number of nobles. Still, the assumption that those who had not graduated from the House of Lords would not be recognized as aristocrats in the aristocratic society did not break down. Even if you don't go into the House of Lords, you have the power of your parents' house, so from a civilian point of view, there won't be a big difference between a cleric and a nobleman... but clearly not."

From the knowledge of the Reino period and the behaviour of the blue priests, if they had drawn the blood of the nobility, they would normally have thought it was nobility. If there is a condition of graduation from the House of Lords, all the blue clerics in the temple will not be aristocrats.

"... noble society is surprisingly tough to be noble if you don't graduate"

"Really? It wields the immense power of magic. Noble titles are not given to those who know nothing about how to control it, how to use it, how to make magic equipment. That's all we're talking about.... Therefore, no matter how much you cry and beg, I cannot show you the material. I'm not even willing to show it to you. That's it."

At the end of the day, I was stabbed with an oversized nail. Apparently, the Chief Cleric had noticed from the beginning that it was my primary desire to see the sorcery-related material.

"Chief Cleric ~ …"

"If I say no, no. Go back to your room."

Covered with frozen cold eyes, I return my magic equipment and drop my shoulders and leave the room.

... Yep, magic material, you wanted to see it. Chief Cleric.

When I returned to my room, it appeared that Touri and Lutz were waiting for me in the small hall on the ground floor, finishing the workshop work.

"Mine, welcome back"

"Touri, Lutz. Thank you for waiting."

I also sit back in the chair in the small hall with the two of them.

"Delia, could you make me some tea?

"Yes, sir."

After I saw Delia off to the kitchen, I turned my gaze to both of them.

"Touri, Lutz, have you finished the book?

"These guys at the orphanage, it was their first time touching a needle. That's about half as good as it gets."

Touri nodded loudly at Lutz's words.

"Yes, yes. I was more surprised that everyone touched the needle for the first time.... but you've never touched a needle and you don't have sewing tools, so you can't fix it even if the hem is unraveled. Shouldn't I tell you?

Children working in workshops work in cheap second-hand clothes for when going to the woods. As a result, it is not uncommon for the sleeves and hem to be broken. I just can't fix it, unlike the kids downtown.

I'm not good enough at sewing to be taught people, and I thought if I wore it out without any specifications, I should rag it and buy my next used garment.

"... If Touri can teach me, I'll get my sewing tools ready. Because I basically can't work here and I'm not good..."

"Sure, it wouldn't improve if Mine taught you. If you can just sew the festival on the hem, I think it's a lot different, so get your sewing tools ready and up."

I guess Touri can't believe that you can't cook or sew that is the basis of your life. He looks worried, like when he asked for a cooking class teacher.

"Thanks to Thuri and Ella for telling me, I can make soup now. This is Dr. Touri's sewing class."

"You better know than you don't"

Touri points her lips slightly to what she made fun of by saying she was a teacher. Then I dropped my gaze a little bit.

"... the kids here can read a little letters, can't they? I was reading by the way when I was bookmaking. I was a little shocked that the little one in the orphanage could read the letters"

"Because those kids are playing in Carta. Touri can play with you next time."

Karta seems to contribute very much to remembering the letters. The Children's Bible puts in all the words of Carta, so it's easy to attach to for the orphanage kids.

But I don't think it's very easy for anyone other than the Temple officials to attach to it. I want to show Benno first and see how he reacts.

"Lutz, are you ready to give Mr. Benno a dedication?

"Oh, I brought it because I could give it to whoever took care of me."

With a face Rutz seemed to be good at, he took out four books. Take a book properly spelled fourth, and I will immerse myself in joy.

"Wow, thanks! Tomorrow I'll give it to Mr. Benno."

"Ooh."

"... the Chief Cleric has to write another letter requesting an interview"

Benno can basically go flutter or see him, or give it to Marc without him.

But if you want to give it to the clergyman, you have to start with a letter requesting an interview. It takes days for me to see him, so I just have to send him a letter requesting an early visit.

"Dear Mine, may I speak for Rosina?

In the questioning system, there is a leak in the air from Fran's expression and phrase "I want to see if Rosina can actually do it". It is a side job to substitute the writing, so it would be better to practice with a letter addressed to the clergyman who knows the circumstances. Just like in my time, if there were mistakes, they would exactly add and give it back.

"Right. Let Rosina handle it."

"Yes, sir."

Rosina moved in with Pickle, but Nicole laughed gracefully and acknowledged. I must also apprentice.

Second, I noticed Delia looking at Rosina with envy. I can't help but look envious to be entrusted with a new job.

Gil is related to the workshop, so if I make a new product, that will increase the number of new jobs, and Fran will increase or decrease the number of jobs depending on my scope of activity. Rosina isn't good at paperwork, but she can't, so Fran's work inevitably gets turned around and increased. I guess only Delia, who doesn't move from this room, seems to be in a stepping stone situation.

... I'm trying my best to remember the letters and numbers.

Gil remembers faster with a competitor named the orphanage kids. I can't feel the growth no matter how hard I'm going to try, and I know how it feels to be a little rushed Delia. Because there are times when I don't grow up and feel left behind in Lutz the same year.

... Haven't you praised me enough?

Gill has reported the results in an understandable way, and while it's easy to praise because he complains "praise," it's hard to praise because Delia does her daily job with her natural face. Making daily work serious is the most important and amazing thing to do, but once again, there are few opportunities to praise it.

"Delia, this is for the Cleric Chief, so leave it in the desk drawer."

"Yeah, I get it"

On the hand of Delia I have received, I place another book.

"And then this is for everyone. Will you put it in this little hall? Most of all, I'm glad Delia read it and gave me some thoughts."

"... am I the best?

I nodded slowly, blinking my eyes at Delia.

"Yep. Gill was the one who did the workshop work for me, but without Delia, I couldn't keep this room. I want you to see the finished product first."

"Oh, yeah. Thanks to me!

Delia raises her tung and jaw, holds the book to her chest, and goes up the stairs early enough. Everyone's eyes were soft and narrow as they looked at it.
